Does anyone else on here every go through spells where you have trouble sleeping and cant even figur

Posted: Nov 13, 2011

I have been in one of these spells where I dont sleep well and not sure why.  Maybe just the holidays or job or whatever but I really cant put a finger on it.  I hate when I get like this and sometimes it goes on for awhile.

Yes I have been going through one lately. I thin - mine is probably just

stress induced. I normally go to be sometime around 11 and then waking up where I can't go back to sleep extremely early. Also, not to mention how many times I wake through the night. I think also time change has me messed up a little bit. My fix this week as been work. I covered for someone on vacation and had a lot of extra work. I only had a few hours of sleep most nights this last week because I was working so much. So, this weekend I have slept great. Hope it gets better soon for you. I know how hard it is going on no sleep.

that you can pinpoint. The obvious things, like increased stress, etc., having been eliminated, it can be anything. Sleep is a precarious state and it's easier than we think to throw your rhythms out of whack.

I've come to just accept a few nights of insomnia or difficulty staying asleep once in a great while (in my case it's most likely part of being postmenopausal) instead of worrying about them, because the paradox is the more you worry about not sleeping, the less sleep you'll get. You WILL have a good night's sleep eventually; your body will make you.

If it goes on for quite a while, though, I'd check with your doc to make sure there's not something else going on health-wise.

My issue was GERD. - Rainy

I never had the usual symptoms of GERD, and never would have guessed that diagnosis, but in hindsight, one symptom was not sleeping well. After my doc put me on Prilosec, I have been sleeping well. Apparently reflux in the middle of the night was the culprit. But, of course, as others pointed out, there are many other factors for interrupted sleep and I am not advocating anyone trying antireflux meds without medical advice first. I will send good sleep vibes your way.

You don't say how old you are, but for me it's menopause. Never had trouble sleeping in my life until that came along. Had it last night, I look like a rag doll today. I will keep a good thought for you and all our sleepless sisters out there!

sometimes for weeks afterwards. Body time clock is all out of whack. I hate the daylight savings thing twice a year, as I go through this every time. However, I have found taking 250 mg of magnesium at night helps me to sleep quite well, but I only take it at those times, and not on a daily basis.

We can avoid the sleep disruption from the time change. - sweetgirlsmom

On standard time, I go to bed at 9:00 p.m. and I get up at 6:00 a.m. That gives me 9 hours to fall asleep, sleep for 8-plus hours, and have time to wake up naturally.

Having our sleep interrupted by an alarm clock when we're in the deep stages of sleep can make us feel tired even after a full night's sleep. We wake up naturally after the light stages of sleep and there is no interruption of the deep stages. We will feel more rested if we allow time to wake up naturally.

On daylight savings, I go to bed at 10:00 p.m. and I get up at 7:00 a.m. Since 9:00 p.m. on standard time is 10:00 p.m. on daylight savings, to my body it feels like both are the same time. That keeps my "sleep time" constant all year long and with regular sleep patterns I feel more rested.

If I kept my "bedtime" the same all year long, my "sleep time" would spring forward and fall back. Since 9:00 p.m. on standard time is an hour earlier than 9:00 p.m. on daylight savings, my body feels the difference as gaining an hour or losing an hour. That frequent back and forth disruption is what wears us out.

The solution is for our "bedtime" to spring forward and fall back along with the time change. That keeps our "sleep time" constant and we can maintain regular sleep patterns. We will feel more rested and it is better for our health.

that would not work for me. I go to bed at 8 p.m. and I do not use an alarm clock to wake me. I consistently wake up by 6 a.m. everyday without one, so do not need it. The problem I have is "staying asleep" once I get to sleep. I will sleep for a few hours and then be wide awake and staring at the ceiling until maybe 5 a.m. and then will want to go back to sleep. I can't do that though, as I have to be awake and up by 6 to start work, or with the stupid pooling of jobs, there will not be anything left for me to work on. I need to get to sleep promptly, stay asleep, in order to get up at my usual time to work. it is the waking up at 1 or 2 a.m. that has me bonkers.
That only works if you can move your morning - commitments out an hour

When I have to be at work at 7:30 am whether it's daylight savings time or not, your plan, while seemingly a good one, just doesn't work in the reality of day to day, at least for me.

For the last few months when turning on the unit you could hear the audio but then would pop and go back off. The last time this happened not only did it pop but also a pouff type sound and then went off. The only way we have found is unplug and plug back up. Gramps TroubleFeb 16, 2011
So just a few months ago, my grandma passed away and it was very sudden. My grandparents were married for 67 years and she predeceased gramps. My grandpa was never the kind of man to "take care" of himself, meaning grams always did the cooking and cleaning , took care of the kids and so on, she was a good wife. Now that she has passed, dealing with gramps has become a real issue. I"m sure he is very lonely after having been with someone that long and suddenly without. But he is already contempla ...

Trouble In Not So ParadiseJul 06, 2014
Without going into too much detail I need some advice.  Basically, my husband and I have been married for 9 years.  I knew when we got married that he had anger issues, but he showed his temper only rarely.  We now have a 4-year-old little girl, and I have noticed his anger comes out a lot more, sometimes two to three times a week.  He has not hit us but he was physically abused as a child. He does yell and scream and sometimes throw things, not at me or her, but still. &nbs ...

Why We're In Trouble In This Country.Aug 25, 2015
We're in trouble because democracy absolutely depends on an electorate that is sufficiently well educated to be able to assess the claims of candidates, to reject the falsehoods and misinformation that political campaigns, their supporters and the press spew into the atmosphere, darkening the sky in an effort to hide the truth from the light of day, and having the ability and the intellectual honesty to objectively judge the character of those who aspire to political office. Democracy is f ...

SEIU Causing Trouble Again-Apr 02, 2015
