The U.S. is selling Patriot Missles to Taiwan. China is furious. Read the articles and then read the following debates. China believes Taiwan belongs to them and has been trying to make them reunite with the mainland. Taiwan doesn't want to do that, and selling weapons to them makes China furious.

Then go to the debate link below. You will see commentary on the left side that states "Support". Click the full button in each commentary. Just do not click on the support or oppose buttons. You are casting a vote for one or the other. Most are NOT good, and face it, China may just take some of the debaters up on their suggestions. On the right side is "Oppose". They make better sense, but still show somewhat of a 'hatred' for the US.

Here's the thing. We cannot bomb countries into democracy, threaten terrorists into submission, set up puppet governments and bankroll foreign militaries in an effort to set up geograhic hegemony that promotes no other purpose but to advance our own self-serving interests (especially at the expense of regional national security and sovereignty) or bribe, ply or buy our way into favor with our next colonial targets.
Our global interests would be best served the old-fashioned way. Respect is not something that can be demanded, assumed or taken for granted. It must be earned.
Jiang Yu made the most sense by observing that, "The two nations should take a strategic and long-term view on relations". As abrasive and disturbing as some of those "full" comments on the support side are, they too are perfectly logical and viable suggestions in terms of China's right to respond to this provocative, ill-advised and short-sighted attempt to gain favor with Taiwan.
