Why do people take politics so seriously? It's

Voting has become pointless, as well.
I'm so over all of it.

Learned a long time ago that votes don't matter. We don't actually choose who is president. That has already been decided by the bankers and people who run the country/world. They decide, make it look like we vote, manipulate the numbers so that their guy looks like he won. When you know the game it is pretty entertaining to sit back and watch.
But I think a lot of us take politics seriously because the rules/laws/policies, etc that the numbskulls are setting forth affect our lives (and these past few years in a negative way) and there is nothing we can do about it.
I wish things were different, but I know they aren't and that we have no control. Nothing we can do or say will matter and so I have learned to live it with. I too am over all of it.
By any case, could 40 million people with your attitude - have created that situation? I

don't know your politics, but many Tea Party candidates were elected to the House in 2010 specifically because lots of impassioned far right people came out to vote, while a larger number of non-TPers sat out that midterm election. Like you, didn't vote.
That's why we have this do-nothing, feed the wealthy, starve the "weaklings" (ordinary people) Congress. Because people who really wouldn't have wanted it didn't realize what was at stake.
There are 300 million of us. The top 1% of the top 1% - are 30K. They are in big, big trouble if

I just stated my opinion about the fact that wall street runs and chooses who is president. I never stated my opinion on specific issues. Which issues are you talking about? Who is stating "get their greedy hands out of your pockets"? Whose pockets? Are you assuming that's what I think? Cos I'll tell you this. If there is someone worth voting for I will vote for them, whether or not I know it will not make a difference (kind of that brainwashed thing still in me thinking my vote counts). I've voted for all parties throughout my adult years.
Just who are you lumping me in with when you know nothing about how I feel about certain issues because I never said how I feel about certain issues.
Wanna try again?
Do you really think that circus lineup on the right - or a black moderate liberal were
More to your point, because every presidential election splits the vote almost evenly, the campaigns on both sides virtually ignore the millions who will be voting for them to concentrate on people like you.
They choose 3 issues out of many to concentrate on to not confuse and drive way people they're trying to convince to vote.
They limit statements on them to brief phrases to not confuse or bore those they're trying to draw to the voting booths.
They plot statements and make commercials outrageous enough to get on the evening news to reach those who don't otherwise pay attention.
Those 2-year-long campaigns and endless e-mail and phone drives, the whole multi-billion dollar effort these days is about getting the group you belong to to vote, because, pathetic as it may be, these days it's people who don't give a damn and haven't spent an hour total finding out what it is they don't give a damn about who choose our president.
Now, state and local elections, and our national Congress--you're more correct there. But it's not a cohesive Wall Street banking/financial group of buddies. It's a broad range of special interests and very, very wealthy people who've been creating safe districts, then choosing and buying people to fill them. Again, though, this would be totally impossible without your contribution.
How many don't vote can be as determinative as how many do, as hard-right Republican strategists especially appreciate. Most people don't like what the hard right wants, so they've known for decades that the lower the turnout the better they do in elections.
If you're so disgusted with the whole process that you don't want anything to do with it--they won their battle to keep you at home. Convincing people to be disgusted with both parties is, by far, their most effective method of winning elections.
