Not about politics at all but I'll be we can all

Posted: Aug 2, 2012

agree that no matter the party we all love to see our athletes competing in the Olympics, including Ann Romney's horse.  I was wondering what others here would say was their favorite part of the Olympics.  I love watching all the competitions but my absolute favoite is at a US Gold medal ceremony when they play the National Anthem.  Canada is also my very close neighbor and "Oh Canada" is a favorite too when the Canadians win.

I agree about the ceremony and the national anthem. - ZvilleMT

My kids thought I was crazy the other day for having the Olympics on during cycling - I just can't stop watching! I got all teared up when the women's gymnastics team won the gold Monday :)

Maybe it's also the emotional part of it, too. You hear the stories of all these athletes and what they did to get to this point - no matter what country they're from, I just feel so good for them when they do well (and so sad when they don't).

I am happy when an athlete from a Scandinavian country wins (I am usually happier in the Winter Olympics :) )

On the other hand, just like I believe that in the church, marriage is between 2 people, I do not think horses should really be in the Olympics and be used for a tax deduction. JMO.

However, if the horse wants to be in a civil union, fine with me.

is watching the national and personal pride of each and every individual that has the opportunity to participate and show what they have worked for on a world stage....no so much for the horses..lol...The olympics were made for human competition, not a human's ability to manipulate an animal.

Not to mention the fact that the equestrians typically are very rich...

Breaks my heart to see some of these youngsters sobbing after missing out on a medal because they feel they've let their family down.

BUT back to the question... I'm lovin' everything except maybe hand ball... what's up with that sport?

My fav is coming up... track and field. Archery was lots of fun too.

I just wish I had resources and time to watch everything.

Love the Parade of Nations... - Bindi

I'm not a big sports fan but I am absolutely glued to the TV when the Olympics comes around. Also, it's the only time I EVER read the sports section of the newspaper. As for the opening ceremony, I think it's gotten a little out of hand over the past few years. I do love the Parade of Nations and the lighting of the torch, the more traditional aspects. I think part of that comes from watching it with my dad as a kid and hearing his stories of attending the Olympics as a young boy in 1932 when it was held in Los Angeles. He actually saw Jesse Owens run!

Also, love hearing the personal stories of the athletes.

From a friend... ATTN: Trump dies in Jerusalem Donald Trump-45 passed away on a fact-finding visit to Israel. While he was on a tour of Jerusalem he suffered a heart attack and died. Wouldn't it be great if we had an MT union (not going to happen; too late for that) and we see headlines that say, "We are troubled because union MTs make 12% MORE than non-union MTs."   Just a thought. I think that might be a very good thing. ...

The Trouble With Politics Is The Most Popular...smDec 18, 2011
politicians are the ones who tell their constituants what they want to hear even if they have to lie thereby leaving the honest politicians who tell their constituants the honest if painful truth out in the cold.  In politics, it seems that honesty is not always the best policy. Another Observation On The Politics BoardSep 20, 2012
I have been thinking how boring and pointless this Board has gotten in the last couple of months with the incessant Obama bashing and anything Democratic or liberal.   I noticed that apparently I am not the only one thinking this because next to each post there is the counter that says how often a post is viewed.  I notice that most original posts barely get over 50 hits and most secondary posts get maybe 10 to 25.  I did a random search of the achives and found that th ...
