In the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, respondents were asked who “would be better when it comes to being easygoing and likeable,” and 58 percent selected President Obama, while just 23 percent chose Romney and 15 percent said the two were equally good.
But when they were asked who would be better at improving the economy, Romney beat out Obama by a margin of 44 percent to 38 percent.

...exactly how trickle-down economics and the policies that got us into this mess are going to improve the economy.
"got us into this mess" - liberal mantra

and hurling liberal "mantra" projectiles is a not-so-slick - way to try to duck the subject, IMHO.

Again, national presidential campaigns play by a different set of rules than political forums. What flies here on the MTStars could be viewed as a failure to launch at the national convention or debate stage level. Time will tell.
Since that is not their plan, your statement is - mute

"trickle-down economic"??? The economy has been getting worse and worse thanks to your guy and party. One thing for sure is if there is no "change" things will only continue to get worse.
I.E....
1. More unauthorized wars.
2. More bankers and CEOs getting rich thanks to The O.
3. More jobs continuing to go overseas.
4. More ignorance shown about lack of knowledge of basic economics,
etc, etc, etc.
But hey, nice use of those liberal buzz words (tricke down economics). Must get a whole 10 points for that use. But then since it wasn't used properly take away those 10 points and that's exactly what we have because of your guy - zero
I don't think my statement is "mute" at all - KLG

The Republican plan is to cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans and further deregulation of Wall Street. The phase "trickle-down economics" refers to the theory that benefitting the wealthy and big business will "trickle down" to the poor and improve the economy. History has shown that this theory does not work. Also, those are not "liberal buzz words" - I believe Will Rogers coined the phrase during the Depression in the 1930s. Other economists have referred to it has "supply-side economics." Whatever you want to call it, it does not work and has never worked.
I'm not understanding your mocking tone in responding to me. I'm just trying to debate respectfully. I understand that differences of opinion can make people angry sometimes, but that's no reason to get hostile. At the end of the day, don't we both want solutions to the financial crisis we're in? Peace.

I gave my opnion about what you wrote. I thought that was what the board was for - mute
[ In Reply To ..]
Having a difference of opinion is not hostile. Having a difference of opinion is actually rather healthy. It stimulates the old noggin. People share opinions, differences, and thoughts. That's what this board is for. That is what I did. I gave you my opinion. It was neither "angry" or "hostile". Those two choices of words floored me because I guess I could have used the same words about your post I replied to.
Giving our opinions is what this board is for. When someone doesn't share the same opinion it does not mean they are angry or hostile. If you only wanted replies back that agreed with you maybe you should have said so and therefore it wouldn't have been confusing (i.e. someone giving a different opinion that is neither angry or hostile).
As for the statement you had made with the so called "Republican plan" you wrote in your message is the Democrats plan. Has been for many many years. The democrats have been detrimental in cutting taxes for the wealthiest of wealthy. That is why wall street and CEOs buy the democrats. No democrat since JFKs time has ever made it better for middle income (people like me). The last democrat in office (Clinton) dang near put the middle income in the poor house (not saying that angrily or hostile, just stating a simple fact). The rich are had always have benefited. Actually I take part of that statement back. They always benefit under BOTH D & Rs. There is NO difference.
Just the lie of how democrats help the middle and poor get's nauseating. To me it does not sound like you have read anything the republicans put out. I'm hearing the same old same old fear mongering that was passed around last election (vote for a republican and they'll bankrupt you, they'll steal all your savings, kill the people over 65 years old, take away your benefits, etc, etc, etc.
I'm not angry about the lies the democrats put out. Sometimes it can be pretty amusing that they think people will actually believe their lies. Guess a better term would be tired of the lies. If they want to continue to lie at least they should get some new material because everyone is on to them now.
So, no "angry" or "hostile" here. Just another citizen in hopes that the next person elected will do a better job than we've had the last 19 years. One day I hope for a president and congress that actually care for the people and work to make it a better place for all of us, not just themselves.
I'm sorry if you thought that - KLG

...I was being angry or hostile, because that was not my intent (which is why I ended my post with "peace). I was responding to your tone when you said "But hey, nice use of those liberal buzz words (trickle down economics). Must get a whole 10 points for that use." Sounds a bit hostile and sarcastic to me. I will admit that it's sometimes difficult to convey tone in written form on a message board.
I honestly am not here to argue and snipe with people who have different ideas than I do. I just think it would be so nice if we could be a little bit more kind to one another. I'm not your enemy, just a fellow American.
my apologies too - mute
[ In Reply To ..]
I will admit I should not have written that. I am sorry. I guess it just old and tiring when I keep hearing the people in the democrat party (not you - the people in office and the liberal media) use the scare tactics to lie about the republicans and their plans.
When you ended your post with peace I thought you meant it in a condescending way, and I apologize for taking it the wrong way.
So I will leave it at this. I'm sorry for what I wrote. I should not have done that and I will respectfully disagree with your statement about trickle down economics because that simply is not how they are going to fix the mess. It won't be easy. This mess has been going on for over more years than anyone will admit (23 as far as I can remember) and when the uber rich, the uber elite buy politicians and in elections when you see more support and more votes for one person (Gore I'm referring to) and yet you wake up and mysteriously find the guy who was losing has been chosen) then it doesn't give me much faith that votes count. It's whoever they can buy to keep them in the top 1%. No democrat or republican president yet has done anything to lessen the burdon on the middle income.
Thanks... - KLG
[ In Reply To ..]
I agree with you that nothing has been done to lessen the burden on the middle class. It would be so nice if our political representatives would put party politics aside and come up with some viable solutions but there seems to be nothing but bickering. Most of the people who post on this board can't get past the partisan bickering, so I guess our leaders aren't much different.
FYI. - sm

Moot point: In the U.S., this expression usually means that there is no point in debating something, because it just doesn't matter.
Mute point: But what’s this about a “mute point”? Some people say this thinking it means, “Let’s put the mute button on and cease any discussion on this.”
ROFL laughing - yes that is what I meant - moot, not mute - too funny

Okay, WHO Will Be The Next Big GOP Leader BothDec 22, 2012Right now apparently, from the talk about such a thing, a third party is looking pretty good to a lot of conservatives. A party known for, and powerful through, its discipline and willingness to fall in line behind its leaders has become anything but. The inability to come together behind Boehner isn't due to his incompetence--it's structural.
