Barack Obama is the world's most respected leader.

Posted: Dec 5, 2010

President Barack Obama is still the world's most respected leader, according to a new six-country poll.  Personally, I would love to see Obama slaughter Palin in 2012 just like Palin slaughters innocent animals for sport.

Your quoting a poll by France????? LOL... - You do know France is socialist don't you?

[ In Reply To ..]
Of course they will say he's the best thing since sliced bread. Socialism supports socialism. However, this supposed "poll" means absolutely nothing. Out of over 623 million people they polled 6100 people and someone (France) is trying to claim he's the favorite of all 6 countries. The whole article is too pathetic. They asked 6100 people out of over 623 million??? (That is 1% of the population). That is not an honest poll. That would be like interviewing 3000 people in the US if they support the Obama's health care bill and they say no so then someone claims that all of the US does not support health care. And, by the way, who are these lone little 6000 people. Do they favor socialism or do they favor a free country? And who were the choices they chose from. Someone old and ugly or young and good looking. And they really expect people to believe that?? LOL That is the epitime of pathetic. Nice try France...not. And what is this "Harris Interactive Poll" Never heard of it. Looked it up and it's mostly associated with college football. So I guess if I created a poll and call it The Brangelina Interactive poll and ask 3000 people if they want Obama care and they all say no I could pass that off and say the whole country does not want the health care. And that would fly in people's books??? I don't think so. Neither does this. Way to fuzzy.

But a poll from France??? ROFL...nice try.

The poll is - not

[ In Reply To ..]
French. It is called the Harris poll and you can find it easily online. There are quite a few countries and you can join too if you like. They do all sorts of polls of the people who join. Sports, politics, etc., etc.

Your still ignoring the fact that they only polled 6000 people out of - 623 MILLION people

[ In Reply To ..]
That is roughly 1%. That makes a poll invalid. 6000 out of 623 MILLION. That certainly does not represent those countries.
How many do you think should be polled? - nm
[ In Reply To ..]

[ In Reply To ..]
I would say 50%. Even then the article should say only 50% of the country favor this or that president. Over 50% would be more accurate to say that certain countries favor a certain president. But 1% of the countries population? If a poll came out and said that 6000 people out of 623 million were surveyed and they don't like Obama, so therefore those 6 countries don't like him you would be the first to scream that that is not a fair or accurate poll. 6000 people out of 623 MILLION is a huge difference.

If 6000 people like someone but the other 620 million don't, you'll still go with the 1% and say oh yeah, the whole world loves him.

Now...if the article came out and said 1% of the 6 countries population favors this or that person, that would have been accurate, but they did not. They are trying to claim that since only 1% of the countries were polled and we'll just take their word for it cos if fits what we want. Sorry, aint gonna fly.
That is interesting. I looked up how Gallup does it. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
The Number Of Interviews, Or Sample Size, Required
One key question faced by Gallup statisticians: how many interviews does it take to provide an adequate cross-section of Americans? The answer is, not many -- that is, if the respondents to be interviewed are selected entirely at random, giving every adult American an equal probability of falling into the sample. The current US adult population in the continental United States is 187 million. The typical sample size for a Gallup poll which is designed to represent this general population is 1,000 national adults.

The actual number of people which need to be interviewed for a given sample is to some degree less important than the soundness of the fundamental equal probability of selection principle. In other words - although this is something many people find hard to believe - if respondents are not selected randomly, we could have a poll with a million people and still be significantly less likely to represent the views of all Americans than a much smaller sample of just 1,000 people - if that sample is selected randomly.

To be sure, there is some gain in sampling accuracy which comes from increasing sample sizes. Common sense - and sampling theory - tell us that a sample of 1,000 people probably is going to be more accurate than a sample of 20. Surprisingly, however, once the survey sample gets to a size of 500, 600, 700 or more, there are fewer and fewer accuracy gains which come from increasing the sample size. Gallup and other major organizations use sample sizes of between 1,000 and 1,500 because they provide a solid balance of accuracy against the increased economic cost of larger and larger samples. If Gallup were to - quite expensively - use a sample of 4,000 randomly selected adults each time it did its poll, the increase in accuracy over and beyond a well-done sample of 1,000 would be minimal, and generally speaking, would not justify the increase in cost.

Statisticians over the years have developed quite specific ways of measuring the accuracy of samples - so long as the fundamental principle of equal probability of selection is adhered to when the sample is drawn.

For example, with a sample size of 1,000 national adults, (derived using careful random selection procedures), the results are highly likely to be accurate within a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points. Thus, if we find in a given poll that President Clinton's approval rating is 50%, the margin of error indicates that the true rating is very likely to be between 53% and 47%. It is very unlikely to be higher or lower than that.

To be more specific, the laws of probability say that if we were to conduct the same survey 100 times, asking people in each survey to rate the job Bill Clinton is doing as president, in 95 out of those 100 polls, we would find his rating to be between 47% and 53%. In only five of those surveys would we expect his rating to be higher or lower than that due to chance error.

As discussed above, if we increase the sample size to 2,000 rather than 1,000 for a Gallup poll, we would find that the results would be accurate within plus or minus 2% of the underlying population value, a gain of 1% in terms of accuracy, but with a 100% increase in the cost of conducting the survey. These are the cost value decisions which Gallup and other survey organizations make when they decide on sample sizes for their surveys.

France is not some scary, goose-stepping military regime or whatever it is you are implying. Here is a description of the French government:

The government of the French Democracy is a semi-presidential system determined by the French Constitution of the fifth Republic. The nation declares itself to be an "indivisible, secular, democratic, and social Republic". The constitution provides for a separation of powers and proclaims France's "attachment to the Rights of Man and the principles of national sovereignty as defined by the Declaration of 1789."

The national government of France is divided into an executive, a legislative and a judicial branch. The President shares executive power with his appointee, the Prime Minister. The cabinet globally, including the Prime Minister, can be revoked by the National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament, through a "censure motion"; this ensures that the Prime Minister is always supported by a majority of the houses.

Palin does not slaughter animals for sport. - Backwards Typist

They eat what they shoot, as do many hunters and fishermen in this country.

Slaughter is not a correct word to use. Although it is a term that means the killing of animals for food, most often the word is used to define indescriminate killing or in large numbers of animals or people.

You must be joking! - Palintology

Sarah Palin earned approximately $14,000,000 dollars last year, and you want me to believe that she has to slaughter animals in order to feed her family.

If you truly believe that, I have a beautiful bridge in New York to sell you.

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't really know why you'd say the definition of slaughter is exactly as used but then claim it's still not the right word. It's exactly the right word.

Besides, she shoots animals for television and for ratings, not for food. You can't tell me she eats it all. Does she pack herself a moose meat sammich before jetting off to the Fox News studios to be a pundit? Give Bristol some deer jerky on her way to "Dancing With the Stars" rehearsal? That's silly.

You don't have to defend everything Palin does. You seem compelled to, but you're not required to. Sometimes, Sarah Palin does jerky things, and killing animals for fake reality TV is one of those things.

Funny how this board was screaming and yelling when Obama's kids were brought up. People were yelled at that Obama told people to leave kids out of politics and therefore people on this board were yelled at if something was said about Sasha or Malia. I think it's really sad that people have nothing better to do than get enjoyment of bringing politicians children in for the attack. I guess I like to think people are good and that adults protect children, but when I read the hateful things said about children or hear on the news that a sick pedophile has killed an innocent child, then I just think its very sad. Actually pretty scary that there are predators out there that actually get enjoyment out of attacking innocent children when they have done nothing wrong. I guess some people are just unscrupulous and have disregard for decency. People who get their jollies from attacking innocent children when they have done nothing wrong were probably abused as children or not loved themselves. And were bullies in school too.

Disliking a politician is one thing. Too bad more of Obama's followers don't have the decency to follow his own words. He even said children of politicians should be left alone.

But if people hate with such bitter venoum and they get their jollies from attacking young children well I think it's just a very sad time in this country. If people think than infants and toddlers are "fair game" when they have done nothing wrong except to have been born. Then people who go after them and get their jollies out of it is just very creepy. I just don't see how anyone gets their jollies from attacking an innocent child and thinks that its fun and "fair game".
If Palin was truly interested in protecting her children... - Palintology
[ In Reply To ..]
She would not feature them on reality television shows. You don't see President Obama exploiting his children on reality shows, do you? Sarah Palin made a conscious decision to exploit her children via "Dancing with the Stars" and "Sarah Palin's Alaska." It was her choice to make them fair game for public pot shots, and she is getting exactly what she deserves!
By the way...Palin is no longer a politician. - Palintology
[ In Reply To ..]
Please remember that Sarah Palin up and quit her job as Governor of Alaska after only 2-1/2 years in office. Politically, that makes her absolutely nothing but a quitter and a loser. Her only claim to fame now is being the star of a boring television reality show where she exploits her family, including her young child who was born with Down syndrome. She has become the perfect role model for all young girls who want to grow up to be a quitter or loser!
Then why are you bringing her up. This is the - Political Forum

Any time someone of your ilk tries to insult me, I take it as a compliment. Your kind words have brought a smile to my face and given me a warm and fuzzy feeling! Wish I could do the same for you, but...
Then if she's longer a politician why are you discussing her - here - should be on the gab board

and has announced the possibility. It is probably just to keep attention (and money)flowing though. Heaven knows she's doing everything she can to stay in the spotlight. But, who knows.
Then like other politicians you should leave their kids alone - Can't have it both ways
[ In Reply To ..]
Okay, so people in politics kids are off limits (or rather only democrat politicians kids are off limits?), and everyone elses kids are "fair game", so you consider her kids target practice because she's not in politics, but you won't discuss her on the gab board because she is in politics. Huh?

I think what it is is the hate for SP is so great people would prefer her innocent children slaughtered and her even worse.
You missed the part about where she - is

So you find it okay to make fun of a child born with Down Syndrome. I sure hope you donĂ¢€™t teach your children to bully and hate. That is not being a good role model.

In all honesty, I do feel sorry for you. I hope you can find some happiness in your life. Being bitter, hate-filled and jealous is just not the way to go through life.

Have a Merry Christmas. I will say a prayer for you.
Thanks for your kind wishes. - Palintology
[ In Reply To ..]
You are way off base in your assumption that I am making fun of a child born with Down syndrome. As a matter of fact, you might want to speak with Sarah Palin about that issue, as she is the main culprit.

However, I do appreciate your well wishes. I am fortunate enough to be blessed with much joy and happiness in my life. I agree that you should not live your life being bitter, hate-filled, and jealous. Hopefully, you will be able to work on these issues and make your life as joyful and happy as mine. I don't pray, but I will be sending positive thoughts your way and hoping that you are able to find peace and happiness and learn to live without the bitterness, hate, and jealousy you have exhibited on this forum! Namaste!
