#BlackLivesMatter leader robbed, demands more police protection.

I certainly don’t want anyone robbed at gunpoint. Not even to a local leader of the Black Lives Matters movement despite the Black Lives Matter movement having taken on an anti-police call to action. There is great irony, however, when such a leader then also calls for more police protection, as happened recently in Houston with Jerry Ford, Jr. ;

With all of these cases that have been in the news lately, some of them may have been guilty of breaking a law, and actually some weren't guilty of anything, but they are in fact dead at the hands of a cop. No cop has the right to be judge, jury and executioner! I believe everyone, regardless of color, should be afforded the same opportunity, yet statistics show clearly that is not the case. Now does that mean every cop is bad? Not at all. Does that mean I agree with anyone breaking the law? Absolutely not! But how African Americans are treated by some of the police and get away with it is definitely a problem.

The police across this country handle tens of thousands of - citizen contacts every single day...

...with people of every race, creed and nationality. They are called upon to deal with the worst in society, to apprehend people who have no intention of complying and some who attempt to avoid capture or even initiate violence against the police.

Yet by far, the vast, vast majority of police contacts are resolved without involving any sort of misconduct on the part of the police.

BY FAR THE MAJORITY - ON THE ORDER OF OVER 99%.

So do we have "a problem"? No, we do not. Will there sometimes be police officers who cross over to the dark side? Yes, there will.

Now, let's talk about a couple of problems the black community does have that bear directly on the rate of confrontations between them and the police:

1. The highest rates of crime and number of criminals per capita of any ethnic group.
2. Fatherless homes.

Never mentioned by those who make an industry out of whipping up racial hatred and mischaracterizing the law enforcement profession for their own purpose.

Why should he not expect the other 99% to do their job? I don't believe anyone has said 100% of cops are all bad. There's a group of them, small as it may seem, that are not being held accountable for their actions. But even 1 life lost is too many at the hand of this group! Would it be okay for your son/daughter/family member/friend to be that 1 life?

as I stated before, I don't believe anyone has said they believe all cops are bad! So why would he not expect them to still do their job? Is he not like any other citizen who pays taxes and expects the same service as anyone else? Just because we stand up and protest this group of police not being held accountable for wrongdoing, does not exclude him from the same services he's paying his tax money for!

I have no clue what that number is, and obviously u don't either or u wouldn't be asking me. If you believe there is an issue, protest, start a movement. It's your right just as it is our right to protest as we are. I personally care about all lives. But I agree there is a problem with this group of cops, whatever the ratio is, taking black lives which is why this movement has formed. These cops are not being held accountable for their wrongdoings. I asked earlier if you would be okay if one of those lives taken was someone close to you. It would NOT be okay for me.
