Good TV tonight--Rep. Nancy Pelosi, House Dem Leader

Posted: Nov 15, 2012

Nancy Pelosi will be on the Rachel Maddow Show tonight.  Two smart women talking to each other--should be good.

Nancy Pelosi was the first woman Speaker of the House and has been the highest-ranking female politician in American history. She is someone to be admired and respected. I am dumbfounded when I hear Luke Russert and others insinuating she should step down because of her age.

i won't be watching - MT

unless I want my blood pressure to go up. Pelosi is nothing but a liar and Obama brown-noser, and both of them are so far left it's ridiculous.

Ok, everyone, start jamming that dislike button!

I agree. Peelousy has done nothing to earn - respect or admiration - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
There is nothing she has done in office deserving of respect or admiration. She is a pathological liar, that is incapable of telling the truth even when it stares her in the face.

Who cares if she is first women of anything. It's what she has done while in that position. She like Obama is a great divider.

Her age is a factor. When people get to a certain age they start failing with memory problems. She needs to step down, go back to her hole and finish her life with her family. She should be done with politics. But more over than stepping down because of her age she should step down because of her incompetence at the job.

Make no mistake Peelousy is nothing but a cold hearted calculating "human" (for lack of better word) who cares about nobody but herself and her family. They threw Martha Stewart in jail for way far less than Peelousy has done.

Reid, McConnell in 70s, Ronnie was late 70s - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I guess they should/should have never started (RR) if age is a factor. Are you in favor of raising the retirement age to 70(?) for everyone?

I agree with you, Martha should never have gone to jail.

And what lie has she told? Did you feel the same way about romney and ryan?
Unsure what you are referring to, please explain - respect or admiration - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Should have never started what? I think retirement age should be 65 if people want to retire then or work up til 70 if they want. Each case and each job is different. Being 75 years old and a greater at Walmart or other similar job is a whole lot different than being 70 and having the power to make decisions like they do. I think politicians should abide by the same laws civilians do. 70 years old and then your out of there. It doesn't matter what political party you belong to.

What lies have she told? Really? I'd like to know if you are serious. The list goes way past the RAM space this computer has. From Obamacare to briefings, to Obamatax, to...just about everything she does on a daily basis.
Almost half of the senate is over 65 years old - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
You said you think she should step down because age is a factor. The peerless Republican leader, Ronnie Reagan, was 70 to 78(?) when he was president, and yes, he should not have been president. However, by your rule, Reid, McConnell, McCain plus about 40 other senators should resign. Boehner is very close. Do the TV talking heads ask the men if maybe they shouldn't resign? Very rude and disrespectful of the elders and women.

Except raising 5 kids, leading a major US political party, being the - highest ranking female pol in US history.

[ In Reply To ..]
accomplishments GOP women can only dream about. Jealous much?
Not even close to being jealous - of her.
[ In Reply To ..]
Thanks, though - that made me laugh :)
Thank you back. Rhetorical question was meant - to bring a smile, not a torrent of

outrage and ridicule. Caveat. GOP leaders and voters who who cannot take their demographic divide seriously, do so at their own peril. Have a good one.
Nope, Not at all - respect or admiration - sm

1. Never wanted one brat, let alone 5.

2. Who cares about her leading a political party. Pretty boring if you ask me.

3. Who cares that she is a women in politics. Especially one who is impressed with herself .

4. I'm not at all jealous of evil.
Spoken like a true sore loser choking on a mouthful of - sour grapes.
[ In Reply To ..]
Fascinated by #1. How does a fire-breathing ProLifer stay bratless for the duration of their reproductive years without availing themselves of abortion services and evil birth control pills, the access to which their reps are so focused on eliminating? Did you take a just-say-no vow of celibacy?

What do you do with all that extra time on your hands while being bored to death by the notion of political leadership? Monitor political forums after switching a disengaged brain into attack mode?

Women serving in the US House of Representatives, a rare breed indeed, care. A total of only 229 women had EVER served in the House by 2009. Voters sent 76 back to the House in 2012. Among those, the democrat females lined up behind Pelosi during a press conference this week and hissed and booed out of loyalty, respect and admiration when the ill-fated reporter asked his question about her age. Millions of other women, particularly seniors who do not accept common misperceptions that they are socially and professionally irrelevant and, therefore, disposable, as "the norm." The fact that younger female House reps stood in defiant support of her was the media's soup du jour just yesterday. They drove home the message that age discrimination ON TOP OF gender discrimination is not "fair game" for runaway press speculation. Impressive enough to be reported nationwide.**

I am so done addressing fringe references to "evil," especially when it refers to everything that moves left of insanely irrational.

**Footnote: Nancy Pelosi has promoted the cause of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council since day one as a fierce advocate for expanded opportunity. It is worth noting that age discrimination is a double-edged sword, just as often aimed in the direction of the youth populations as it is the elders.
LOL - Nope, didn't vote this time - wanna try again?

I haven't read your post, just opened it to scroll all the way down to the reply button. I figure the rest of your post must be an assuming as your subject line.

Not sour grapes at all. Didn't vote for either because I didn't want either and knew the election was rigged and that people just don't understand the political system and how someone is chosen. Romney never had a chance, which is fine by me. Guys a little scary, but no, they never intended to put him in the position. Besides, just because you don't support someone, that you can see through the lies, that you can even ADMIT they lie, well that's not "sour grapes". Nancy Pee-lousy is nothing to be "sour grapes" over. She's an evil person.

I do actually get a laugh from the liberals on the board that when someone doesn't agree with something the latest liberal buzz word is "sour grape".

I mean, cmon people, can't you come up with something better? ROFL
Nope. Not in the habit chasing red herring arguments upstream - in reply to

I just cannot stand to hear that woman talk - it's like fingernails down a blackboard! Every word out of her mouth is either a lie or something completely disrespectful! She has done nothing to earn my respect OR admiration - just MHO.

Yet no one will post proof of a specific lie. - Women are tough on women

[ In Reply To ..]
It kind of reminds me of a big Ladies' Aid group. Always making one woman the scapegoat of the snippiness and back-biting for no real reason except they don't like her hair, voice, or hotdish.
it's easy... anytime she's talking - MT

Something that really comes to mind is when the Tea Party got going... and she was talking (with fake tears in her eyes) about how frightening it was... the rhetoric! the violence! oh, it was just awful! Funny, there were never any arrests at any Tea Party rally. They were always peaceful. And when they left, they cleaned up after themselves. But then when OWS started up, well, she was all for them! I lost count of the rapes, arrests, acts of violence, total disrespect of people and property, and filth that was part of all that.

Just a second... I just thought of something she said that was true. It was about the health care bill. She said, "Well first we have to sign the bill before we can find out what's in it."
Who's cleaning up after the Tea Party now? - bootstraps
[ In Reply To ..]
The Tea Party set the Legitimate Republican Party back exponentially. Something they may not recuperate from before the next Presidential Election.

And the Legit Republicans are left with the mess. They are doing their best to clean up and move forward, but there are some that just want to hang on; most of whom have actually no political relevance.

Mitt Romney continues to confirm that he meant what he said (on his phone calls to supporters) about the 47%, much to the dismay of Bobby Jindal who all but called him a disgrace to the Republican Party today.

Senate and Represenative seats picked up by Democrats thanks to Tea Party agenda, including encouraging ultra right wing statements including those related to rape. A false sense of security, "The Tea Party's got my back."

Maybe she was crying tears for the deterioration of what was the GRAND Old Party.

I doubt if she'll cry when the Tea Party meets it demise.

Who is the liar? Spreading Glenn Beckisms - Truth fairy
[ In Reply To ..]
That little quote is something Glenn Beck deceptively cropped from a speech from the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in order to make it seem like she was saying something about health care reform that she wasn't.

Need I say more? Glenn Beck? Who even Fox had to fire?

If so, Beck left off is the rest of Pelosi's statement. After commenting that discussion of health care reform had been focused on "the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill," she said in full, "But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of controversy."

This was in a talk to the media. You know, where they fire off many ignorant questions at you.
well, first of all, he wasn't fired - MT
[ In Reply To ..]
He left because he wanted to get out of New York and move to Texas. And the health care bill is a lot more than 700 pages, I think it's around 3,000. I'm sure none of them have read all of it yet. I think it's ridiculous that you have to pass a bill BEFORE you find out what's in it. We are soon going to find out lots of things that were in that bill that aren't even health-related. Like the new tax for selling your home. There's more to come over the next few years and we ain't gonna like it. It's already killing jobs. I believe their goal is to put the insurance companies out of business so they can have a one-payer (the government) system. It will be expensive and inefficient, because that pretty much describes everything the government does.
Whoosh. That's the - sound of
[ In Reply To ..]
a message passing clean over the heads of Beck apologists. I suspect his decision to move to secessionist paradise was preceded by the gentle nudge Fox gave him when serving their out-to-pasture notice.

The point you're trying to make has been mooted into oblivion by the REaffirmation Obamacare got on election day.

I noticed a photo of Obama and the group yesterday - backwards typist

I thought the Majority leaders are always supposed to sit next to the President?

Not in that photo. Pelosi on one side and Reid on the other. Guess Pelosi is in her glory to be able to sit next to her honey again. As noted, I can't stand her and would love to tie her hands down at her side or at least behind her back so she can't talk. LOL

Republicans not connecting with women according to election results - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
It is interesting that after the results of the last election:

Senate: Women Democrats hold 16 seats and Republican women hold 4 seats, a 4:1 ratio.

House: Women Democrates hold 58 seats and women Republicans hold 20 seaets, an almost 3:1 ratio.

Any ideas why?

They're certainly not connecting with women - like Pelosi!

[ In Reply To ..]
I personally don't have a problem with that!

Meaning you have no clue why that is. - Got it! nm

[ In Reply To ..]
More than a clue - I'll clue you in
[ In Reply To ..]
Perhaps Republican women have a more domesticated side. Perhaps they want to be around to take care of their families and watch their kids play soccer or baseball or dance. Perhaps Republican women are not as interested in power positions. To those women who are interested in representing their country I salute them. But please keep in mind it was their decision to run for public office and it was others decision to not.
You are aware that Nancy Pelosi raised her kids BEFORE - she ran for office, right?
[ In Reply To ..]
Her youngest daughter was a high school senior when she ran her first congressional campaign. Silly straw man argument.

Newly elected GOP Rep. Susan Brooks of Indiana begs to differ with your analysis. When responding to John Boehner's appointment (as opposed to a directly elected position) of Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers to the #4 GOP "leadership role" (a post so secure it doesn't seem to have a formal title), Rep Brooks said:

"It does show our party values strong female leadership." Brooks thinks her party needs to " try and do a better job of getting our message out to a broader audience."

The GOP is dabbling in gender and ethnic demographic tokenism, failing to realize how much more desperate it makes them look.

I cannot stand either one of them. - Vote for revenge.

[ In Reply To ..]
Cannot even look at them. Both of them again like the last 4 years which means no change, but a downhill economy in rapid demise. Oh... if you get a pink slip coming and you voted for Obama, then you deserved it.

He didn't just insinuate - bootstraps

[ In Reply To ..]
I was kind of surprised at his persistence. It just about verged on "not respecting your elders."

I wonder what NBC's take was.

Respected? - NOT

[ In Reply To ..]
I suppose it's okay that she can have a jet at her disposal courtesy of the taxpayers to fly her family across the country from Cali when she is in Washington too huh? She needs to step down - she has tunnel vision just like her cohort, Harry Reid. It's time for a real CHANGE in this administration.

I think that's old news - fyi
