in a reported disagreement over direction. Freedomworks, of course, is largely backed by the Koch brothers and others who seek an end run around our silly little one-man/one-vote system. This is a counterpoint to the resignation announced just days later, of course, of Senator Demint to run the Heritage Foundation--continuing the shakeups on the far right after their election losses.
Officially, Armey disagrees with the "direction" of his organizaiton. Armey declined to specify his disagreements with FreedomWorks. Asked if they were ideological or tactical, he replies, "They were matters of principle. It's how you do business as opposed to what you do. But I don't want to be the guy to create problems."
As an indicator of the sorts of "how" problems, though, it's recently come out that FreedomWorks received $12 in donations from two shadow corporations set up to hide where the money came from, and its official head honcho Armey is on record as saying that he knew nothing about the donations, was never told about them. Another executive also claims to not have been told, so some really strange going-ons behind their backs there.
$1.2 million of this was used in a failed run against disabled veteran Tammy Duckworth. Walsh, of course, famous for opposing abortion even when the life of the mother is at stake.
