I am co-leader of a brownie troop. This is my second year. The first year went okay. I was the co-leader and did not mind being second in command. We earned 10 try-it patches and went on 4 field trips. The leader would not put my name on the checking account though, which I thought was a little weird.
This year has been a nightmare. The leader cancelled EVERY field trip at the last minute. The council insisted I be on the account and I refused unless I got to see the account activity, so she just got someone else to sign on it instead of showing me the books. We have barely earned 2 patches. She brings a baby she is sitting for to the meetings and expects the adult volunteers to change and feed the baby. Her own daughter behaves badly and she spends a lot of her time busting up that behavior. I volunteered to be the cookie parent this year and she has become obsessed with me communicating constantly about how much money I am putting into the account. I am miserable, bossed around and she acts like she is hyperventilating, needing to control everything. The change from last year is so drastic I am sure she is skimming the troop money. I am so out of here next year and I am taking my kid with me.
Ten more meetings to go. I am crossing them off as we go. Any advice how to cope until May! Ugh!
