taxpayer money these democrats are wasting by hiding in Illinois. Unfortunately those 5K-6K workers soon to be laid off will be able to thank not only the MIA democrats in WI but also the protesters.
They are not losing collective bargaining on their pensions or healthcare. They are losing collective bargaining on the wages over the CPI. Their wages can still go up...just not over the CPI.

Lots of hate, anger and frustration is being directed toward the protesters by certain minority groups pretty much nonstop. It is as if they do not understand that unions represent real people. I think that is even more shameful.
What is shameful is that the unions have become - corrupt thieves, and some poor people

are so ignorant to this! Wake up, America. Get out of your sleep. I used to be a prisoner of a union for 10 years.. never ever again!
anger and frustration maybe - but hate?
[ In Reply To ..]
I can see the frustration and some people are angry, but it's a pretty big stretch to say people are being hated because they are protesting. Really? Hate is pretty strong word. What minority groups are being targeted "pretty much nonstop?" By who? Are you watching the same protests that I am?

She did not say minority groups were being targeted. She said the protesters were being targeted by certain minority groups. It not hard to understand she thinks the Tea Party is a minority political group taking out anger, frustration and hate on the protesters. It this board is any indication this does not appear to be far-fetched at all.
Is it any more shameful than people wanting - their benefits and raises

on the backs of other workers in their state? People who are on jobs funded by taxpayers should be willing to cinch up their belts and tough it out like everyone else. And since they seem incapable of doing that on their own, what is the alternative other than busting the union? Of course Dems don't want unions busted...it is their major cash cow.
Where is the care for the common man Dems claim they have? Only the common man in a union qualifies?
It sounds selfish to me. But then, birds of a feather flock together.

one of the WI democrats admitted to using his own money to buy underwear - WI MT
[ In Reply To ..]
Saw it on one of the news clips. That made me chuckle. So apparently he was not wearing underwear before or he was proud that he was able to go to the store and buy it himself? As far as the hotel bills and food who knows, but at least we know that we taxpayers aren't on the hook for underwear in addition.

More grandstanding. He knows very well they are not at home. He is beginning to look pretty desperate since he is trying to make good on his self-imposed looming deadline of Friday (as promised to Master Koch) before he gins this up into a full-blown direct assault on public workers with his Monday morning layoffs of "thousands". He just keeps digging himself in deeper and deeper and deeper, doesn't he?
Reminder: The solution to his bogus budget crisis is on his desk, which he continues to ignore. All fiscal concessions have been made. Stripping workers of CB does not balance budgets. His transparent personal vendetta against unions, aspirations to become the reincarnation of Reagan and crown himself King Domino The First are on display for all the world to see. Poor Scottie Boy. His budget is DOA by his own hand. That sucking is the sound of his career going down the drain.
Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!. How typical and predictable - of you to place blame on others.

so the 15 people laid off in our school district are a ploy? - WI MT
[ In Reply To ..]
If the runaway democrats were here to vote on the bill by tomorrow these jobs would be saved. However, our school district, like so many others, has to make cuts because there is only so much money in the budget and until the new budget is passed by the state they have to base it on the old budget. This bill would get rid of collective bargaining and make the teachers pay a minor percentage toward their benefits and would give local school districts and towns the ability to balance their budgets without being caught in a stranglehold by the unions. Our local paper stated that most of these jobs could have been saved had the bill passed in time, but unfortunately notices have to go out Monday. Walker was trying to avoid laying anyone off and he would have succeeded if only the democrats would quit whining like little kids and come back and vote. Now 12,000 people state wide are going to lose their jobs. It makes me wonder if perhaps the protestors were on the wrong side of the protest. They should have been pushing to pass the bill so that everyone could keep their jobs. Now a lot of people are going to be unemployed. I hope it was worth it.

the governor is not laying off teachers - WI MT
[ In Reply To ..]
It is up to the individual school districts and towns to make cuts to stay within their budget if that means cutting teachers or programs or increased fees. The governor has no say in that so place the blame where it belongs, with the runaway democrats for stalling on voting in the new budget.
As far as state employees that is a different argument and yes the governor will be forced to hand out pink slips to some state employees.
You dont know what you are talking about! The Gov - does not lay off, the district does.

Who said anything about teachers? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
These attempts to digress are really getting old. The governor is the one threatening to withold paychecks, hand out pink slips, initiate layoffs, etc, etc, etc. Whether or not he has the authority is another question. He sure acts like he thinks he does and he wants the rest of us to believe that too.
It does not really matter anyway. This transparent ploy has already been exposed by Fake Koch. Governor Reagan Wannabe is not going to get the results he seeks with by threatening and throwing his weight around. He is just making himself look ridiculous. The dems are going to stay put. Strategy-wise, Walker has over-reached and has been outsmarted. That's why the tpots are in such an uproar. The dems have managed to ignite the labor movment nationwide, open dialog on behalf of the beleagured middle class and expose the gov for the charlatan he really is.
You did - WI MT
[ In Reply To ..]
I made the comment about the 15 teachers in our school district being laid off as a repudiation to your comment that the layoffs were a ploy and you responded that the governor does the lay offs. Honestly I am trying to follow your logic and I give up. It is obvious all you want to do is argue. The school districts and towns will be laying off people too, not just Walker. This could have all been avoided. But you are right on one thing. The union movement is fired up but so is the majority who oppose unions. I don't see this fight ending any time soon.
No I didnt. Nowhere in either post - did I include the word teacher. sm

You may have been talking about teachers. I was talking about the governors threats to lay off PUBLIC WORKERS, which I specified in my post. Those Democrats already agreed to Walker's budget. It's - the busting of unions (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]
that the Democrats are fighting. Walker has his budget. He could put this whole thing to bed today if he wanted to. Instead, he's trying to bust up unions.
Of course, he's going to get a fight and he should. The unions are the last thing keeping the middle class alive in this country.
Do you want to live in a country that has no middle class? Look at the graph that has been posted on this board and see how much you can relate to it. The new "middle class" is someone who earns $200,000.00 or more a year. Where does that put YOU?

can change the fact that Walker has lost credibility, made a fool of himself and been upstaged by the dems. From now on, where the budget is concerned, all he can do is shoot blanks. The dems did what they set out to do, which was to support working people and the unions and to provide them a platform to make their case and in the process they energized a workers movement all over the country. They beat Walker at his own game by refusing to cave in to his decrees and demands and in the process exposed a weak strategy that has backfired bigtime and blown up right in his face. The message the tpots need to take away from this is that if they are going to wage war on unions, workers and the middle class at large, they had better be prepared for the fight of their lives.
You couldn't be more right. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Without even taking into consideration the prank call where Walker showed his cards to the world, it should be pretty obvious by now that the Republicans only care about the rich and want to bust up unions and anything that promotes the middle class.
They actually blame unions for the existence of the middle class. Private wages are much lower than for those who belong to unions. They just want private companies to continue decreasing salaries of what's left of the middle class, relax laws on child workers and create a nation that exists only of the rich and the poor.
Why the Republicans on this board can't see that is way beyond me. They aren't on the side of the regular citizen. They're on the side of big business and the rich. Heck, they're all rich themselves.
Sheesh, people! Wake up!
Bring it on! How can anyone find your message... - credible.

Because it is all about you, you, you! That is the quintessential Democrat. Take from not only the rich, but the nonunion middle class...and let the nonunion middle class shut up and cough it up, right? As long as your freebies or union bennies that THEY pay for don't go south? Even in an economy like this?
The old chestnut of middle class loving liberals has been exposed for what it is...lies, lies, lies. It is not about the middle class, it is about "I don't give a fig about the REST of the middle class, I just care about ME (and getting re-elected, of course, by the receivers of the gimmes).
If you are going to wage war on the nonunion middle class workers who support a lot of you, then YOU better ne prepared for the fight of your lives AND for 2012 to make the midterms look like a cakewalk. Put a fork in you folks...you're done. America is awake and they don't like what they woke up to.
