Sandra Fluke took the stage. Her delivery was just embarrassing. Fluke’s first words, met with a cheer, were a lie. She said, “Some of you may remember that earlier this year, Republicans shut me out of a hearing on contraception.” It was a hearing on the First Amendment and religious freedom, not contraception. She’s not a First Amendment scholar, so she had no business testifying there. In fact, the Rev. Barry Lynn was supposed to be the witness Democrats were going to call, but they changed their mind to Fluke after the submission deadline, knowing she would be rejected so that they could cry foul. They didn’t want a hearing on religious freedom; they wanted one on birth control. I'm working on Bill Clinton's list next. Thanks, Mark.
;Sandra Fluke was invited by Democrats to speak at a hearing by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the new Administration rules on Conscience Clause exceptions in health care. Democrats requested the committee add Sandra Fluke to the first panel, which was composed of clergy and theologians. Committee chairman Darrell Issa (R-California) refused, stating that Fluke lacked expertise, was not member of the clergy, and her name was not submitted in time. Democratic members criticized the decision not to include Fluke since it left that panel with only male members, when the hearing covered contraception coverage. The next week, the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee convened a meeting to invite Fluke to speak.
She was invited by the Democrats....I didn't know Fluke was the clergy or theologian when this committee met? When did she get her theology degree or was ordained?
In part of her speech last night, she noted that under Romney, the nation "would be an America in which you have a new vice president who co-sponsored a bill that would allow pregnant women to die preventable deaths in our emergency rooms.” This quote is all over the news. When did ERs stop treating pregnant women????
Evidently, you’re okay with her lies? I'm not...and she doesn't speak for me or more women than she realizes. When reading articles, I also read the comments and 9 times out of 10, the comments on her by other women aren't positive.
