most people that have signed up are paying their premiums. It will be interesting to see how much Obamacare reduces the amount of bankruptcies in this country. Some of the uninsured just haven't signed up as a matter of principle, others because they cannot afford the premium and their state has not expanded Medicaid. I think it will take a few years but I think the positive effects of Obamacare will become more apparent.
But, according to Obama, there were only 30 million UNINSURED - Truthhurts

before they even passed Obamacare. In fact, that's why they pushed for health insurance so hard.

So your number of 25 million uninsured would mean only 5 million signed up and are paying their premiums. Who's lying...Obama or HHS? I'd say both of them because everyone knows Obama doesn't really deal with numbers and HHS. It's just too boring dealing with facts.

They were forced off their policies by exorbitant premium increases because they might have a health problem.

Women of reproductive age had higher premiums than men because "they might get pregnant."

Millions were refused insurance because they had a pre-existing conditions.

Millions were forced into bankruptcy pre-Obamacare due to unpaid health care costs that insurance companies denied payment of.

Millions delayed needed medical care because of a lac of insurance and suffered the consequences including great pain, loss of ability to work, and even death.

Add that up.

Over 25 million have LOST their healthcare because of this. More people have lost their health insurance then those who got health insurance.

This has been a disaster from day one. Millions of people thrown off perfectly good health plan to find themselves and their children without healthcare.

And we're not even talking about the fiasco with the subsidies, which many people are going to have to pay them back.

Only certain people with pre-existing conditions will get health care, not all.

I guess the people who lost their health insurance don't matter.

Obama apologizes for insurance cancellations due to Obamacare - ProMT

[ In Reply To ..]
President Barack Obama apologized Thursday to those Americans whose insurance plans are being canceled due to the federal health law he championed even though he said repeatedly they could keep their coverage if they liked.

"I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me," he told NBC News in an exclusive interview.

"We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this," he added.

Obama's comments come days after he attempted to clarify what he meant when he assured Americans in previous years that they would be able to keep their plans under the Affordable Care Act, a controversy that is prompting legislation in Congress to address it.

Obama further alters 'you can keep your plan' pledge

Republicans have hammered Obama over the promise since insurers began discontinuing coverage for some of the 12 million Americans who buy individual policies on the private market that don't meet Obamacare requirements for more comprehensive care.

Insurance companies appear to be doing this for a variety of reasons; some are pulling all their plans from certain states where they have fewer subscribers in order to save money.

In many cases, affected policyholders are being squeezed. They either don't qualify for subsidies to lower the cost of new premiums or they may have to pay more in the health care exchange marketplace.

When Obama says he's looking to fix it, he primarily means steps that can be taken administratively, senior administration officials said.

Some experts suggest one possible approach would be to ask insurers to delay the cancellation of plans and extend them into the New Year so that people are not left without insurance. That has been done, for example, in the state of California.

But House Speaker John Boehner said an Obama apology was in order and said the Republican-led House had its own plan in mind.

"What Americans want to hear is that the President is going to keep his promise. That's why the House will vote next week to allow anyone with a health care plan they like to keep it," Boehner said. "If the President is sincerely sorry that he misled the American people, the very least he can do is support this bipartisan effort. Otherwise, this apology doesn't amount to anything."

The administration eventually knew that many policies would be changed by the insurance carriers after Obamacare was introduced, and the associated political uproar since its October 1 online rollout has also angered Democrats and fueled Republican efforts to extend related controversies onto the campaign trail.

Vulnerable Senate Democrats voice concerns

In 2010, the Health and Human Services Department estimated that 40% to 67% of individual plans would eventually lose their "grandfathered" status, which only was conferred if a plan was purchased before the health care law was approved in 2010.

Although Obama said the "buck stops" with him on Obamacare problems to date -- including the rocky rollout of the website -- he still was resolute that his initiative to provide coverage for the uninsured and better coverage for many others would be better for the country.

"Most of the folks who ... got these cancellation letters, they'll be able to get better care at the same cost or cheaper in these new marketplaces," Obama said, also noting that "we have to make sure" people do not feel as if they've been betrayed by an effort carried out with their best interests in mind.

"They'll have more choice, they'll have more competition. They're part of a bigger pool. The insurance companies are going to be hungry for their business. So the majority of folks will end up being better off," he said.

Key elements of the health law prohibit discrimination for pre-existing conditions and require new plans cover maternity care, mental health and other areas. The program was developed to put comprehensive care within reach of millions of uninsured Americans.

About 95% of legal U.S. residents receive health insurance through private employers or the federal government, the Obama administration says. But more than 48 million Americans don't have any coverage.

Obama's apology comes a week after similar refrains were made by Vice President Joe Biden and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius regarding the botched Obamacare online rollout.

Asked if he thinks Americans will be able to trust what he says in the future, Obama said he thinks he'll ultimately be "judged on whether" Obamacare is better for Americans overall.

"When you try to do something big like make our health care system better ... there are going to be problems along the way, even if ultimately what you're doing is going to make a whole lot of people better off, and I hope that people will look at the end product and they're going to be able to look back and say, you know what, we now have protections we didn't have before," he said.

In the NBC interview, Obama reiterated the administration's line that he's "confident" a "majority of people" will be able to use the website and apply for insurance by November 30. But he did not say whether he would push back the March 31 deadline to enroll or the penalty for those who do not purchase insurance.

Obamacare depends on younger, healthier Americans to buy into the program and pay premiums to offset costs for covering older people who need more health care. Those without insurance who do not sign up for a plan face a fine.

What else could go wrong with Obamacare?

A Gallup poll conducted just over a week ago showed 36% of Americans said they didn't think that in the long run the Affordable Care Act would make much of a difference to their family's health care situation. Just over a third said the health care law would make matters worse, and one in four said that Obamacare would make things better.

A Look Back at Obama’s Healthcare Promises - ProMT

[ In Reply To ..]
The government is in shutdown, and the first days of Obamacare are here. October first saw the opening of the healthcare exchange and the launch of the exchange website. After its launch, the website came crashing down. High traffic and severe technical problems have brought the website to a standstill. This has made the unpopular law even more unpopular and has effected President Obama’s now all-time low approval rating, which is now at 37%. With the public now focusing on Obamacare and trying to find the merits among the many faults, we are going to go back and evaluate a couple of healthcare promises that the President made:
“You can keep your current plan”
As comforting as this statement was when President Obama made it, he had no idea of the economics behind the scenes. Take a look at just a couple of companies like IBM and Time Warner. IBM is now dropping tens of thousands of Retirees from their health insurance plan, and telling them to find another provider of insurance.
Companies are now beginning to cut the hours of their employee’s in order to avoid the 30 hour full-time threshold. For larger companies, once the 30 hour work week is passed, they have to provide healthcare to their employees. Take a look at the fast food industry. Companies across the country are cutting employee’s hours to part-time in order to save on insurance costs.
“Lower health care premiums by $2,500”
If you want the answer to this question, ask people around you if their premiums have gone down. Across the country the exact opposite is happening. Premiums are rising, and its foolish for the president to say that after adding millions of new people to the health care systems the premiums will go down.According to Forbes, Obamacare will increase the premium of an individual by 99% for men, and 62% for women.

Four More Insane Years

Submitted by: GREGORY H. B.

With the re-election of Barack Obama, the United States has officially become a banana republic. From a nation that produced patriots like Ronald Reagan and John Kennedy, we have knowingly selected the lowest common denominator as our commander in chief.
From China to Iran, the enemies of freedom can now breathe a collective sigh of relief as the citizens of the United States have placed an empty suit at the helm of state. To think the American people would select Barack Obama over a man like Mitt Romney is a national embarrassment that we will not soon overcome.
Never in history has a nation so great fallen so far, so fast, as ours did on Nov. 6, 2012. Albert Einstein said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Using this definition, anyone who expects anything different from Obama must surely be insane.

That is all behind us. After a rough start, Obamacare is on the road to being a big success. nm - oldtimer

Health Policy Analyst: Obamacare a Failure at Age - ProMT

[ In Reply To ..]
The goals that President Barack Obama spelled out for his signature healthcare overhaul are nowhere near being achieved five years into its lifespan — time enough to recognize, as most Americans do, that the law needs to be scrapped and replaced, says a health policy analyst and writer.

"The American people are not happy on this birthday," Sally Pipes, president and CEO of the Pacific Research Institute, told "MidPoint" host Ed Berliner on Newsmax TV on Monday.

Pipes said the Affordable Care Act, which turned 5 on Monday, has meant rising premiums for policyholders, fewer choices in insurer-shrunken networks of medical providers, new Medicaid enrollees struggling to find doctors at all, and a ballooning of the country's healthcare tab.

The primary Obamacare goals of universal coverage and lowered costs are unreachable under the existing plan, said Pipes.

"The Congressional Budget Office has said by 2025, 25 million Americans will still be uninsured," she said. "The president wanted a healthcare bill that cost $900 billion over 10 years. The CBO costed it out at $940 billion. Now, the gross cost is about $1.7 trillion from 2015 to 2024.

"Are those things that the American people would want to celebrate?" she said. "The president did not achieve, and will not achieve, what he's promised the American people."

While the percentage of people counted as uninsured has fallen, the picture is more complicated, said Pipes

"The administration has come out and said about 8.8 million people, as of the beginning of March, are now covered under HealthCare.gov," she said, "But it's also being pointed out that about 20 percent of those people … will probably not pay the premium."

Among an estimated 11 million new Medicaid enrollees, "we're finding increasingly that people on Medicaid cannot find a doctor," said Pipes. "So, we've seen emergency room use go up, which is expensive, which the president promised would not happen."

"If you can't find a doctor and you have coverage, but you can't get a doctor, what does that mean?" she said. "It means we're headed down a path to rationed care and lack of access with long waiting lists."

Pipes called it "an unhappy birthday party" for the Affordable Care Act, adding that clear majorities in polls want the law, with its mix of mandates and penalties, either repealed or replaced.

"Now that the Republicans say that they have a plan … which would of course allow people who have been receiving subsidies to have a transition period — which is a good thing — we need to repeal and replace the whole law," she said, "getting rid of the employer mandate, individual mandate, getting rid of the tax advantage that people who have employer-based coverage get.

"This can be done," said Pipes, "but we have to be resolute in pushing that this is the best so that Americans can achieve affordable, accessible, quality care for all."

...but can't afford to use the insurance thanks to Obamacare. All Obamacare did was open the flood gates to all of these greedy insurance companies to now force us to buy insurance plans with huge deductibles and out of pocket expenses. Funny since Obamacare was implemented all insurance companies are switching to this type of plan and raising premiums on top of that.

And if you have employer provided insurance you are stuck whether you like the plan or not.

So even if 100% were insured how many of that 100% would be able to afford to use it? I know I pay through my employer $400.00 per month for myself and my husband but don't use it because of the high deductibles. But we have insurance. Last year I paid $4800.00 in insurance premiums and they paid 0 dollars for us. So what good did that insurance do for us.

So who is winning here? Think the insurance companies and hospitals are all for Obamacare and do you wonder why.

I am glad Obamacare is helping some but it is not helping all. But maybe in 10 years our lovely politicians will make the entire country dependent on them so then maybe we will be able to afford to go to the doctors, if we are still alive them.

Yet, because of the Obamacare law the insurance....sm - VTMT

companies, cannot refuse you coverage, cannot cut your coverage when you get sick or impose a lifetime cap. They must supply preventative screenings with no copay or regard to your deductible. They must also prove that they use 80% of insurance premiums for actual patient care. Surely these are all good things? When insured, if you have a catastrophic illness where medical/surgical care goes into the hundreds of thousands of dollars you no longer will need to resort to bankruptcy. The peace of mind is priceless.

You are fooling yourself. - nana7

[ In Reply To ..]
Before Obamacare if I was admitted to the hospital I had a $250.00 copay regardless of how much the hospital charged. Now we will use my husband as a for instance. Two years ago he had an outpatient surgery with a $250.00 deductible and the bill for that surgery was $17,000. Now we have to pay all of our yearly deductibles which for one person is $3,500 and then 20% of the rest. So 20% of the 13,500 after deductible equals $2700. So for that one surgery instead of us paying $250.00 we now would have to pay $6,200. And then 3 months later he ended up in the hospital and had to have another surgery and that stay was over $50,000 because of the ICU stay. Do the math, we would have another $10,000 to pay on top of the the $6,200. Which would you rather pay $500.00 or $16,200?

And if you say you would not mind paying such a huge difference you know what I would call you.

I read an artical not to long about about this and bankruptcies are going up becuase of these high deductibles and copays. And people are not using their insurance because of it.

We call my grandson a million dollar baby. How would you like to pay 20% of that?

Catastrophic events do happen and if it did happen today we would have no choice but to file bankruptcy.

So I think when you look at the figures I am not sure how you can claim we are better off. Would love to hear how you figure that one.
You nailed it! Before my insurance pays one penny, I - have to pay out of pocket $13, 000 cash
[ In Reply To ..]
now. Prior to Obamacare, my deductible was $ 2500; which included anything paid for a copay.

This Obamacare wanna-sycophants are only kidding themselves. The rest of us fully understand the damage this mess has caused. These outrages increases are exactly why so many not bothering to get any medical care at all - SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD IT UNDER OBAMACARE.

When I got the notice, I posted that and was immediately called a "liar". Lost my insurance 3 different times under Cobammie, and each new policy was more, covered less, and was worse than what I had before he ever stuck his nose in my health care.

What I had prior to Obama I really liked. Now, every single day, the stress of what he has done to disrupt my finances is beyond anything I had before. I am not alone. Unfortunately, those clinging to the Obama altar refuse to ever see any damage of any decision Obama has mad.

But then again you think that is part of the big plan?????? I certainly do.
Yes..If you read Obama's very early history (his words) - he subscribed to the theory
[ In Reply To ..]
as did M. Sanger of Planned Parenthood, about the socialist idea that those "undesirable" to society should be removed, receive the least amount of care, services, health aide because they were either to old or sick to any longer be useful to society. Hillary C. also holds to the same theory. That was the purpose of abortion and basis for the abortion...never was about a woman's right to chose. Only way someone knows that is if they do all of the research regarding what the Dems wanted to accomplish with this.

Since so few people ever "really" dug into Obama's past, and a lot of his information and records were sealed, they believe only what Obama tells them to believe.

It an come right from the horse's mouth, but if it does not fit within their circle of adoration, they refuse to believe it. That's even scarier.

This is not on the news and not even on Fox news so the powers that be are being underhanded and devious as per normal. http://www.silverbearcafe.com/private/10.09/warnning.html   ...

Obamacare Meltdown Has Arrived. Tennessee Is Ground Zero For Obamacare'sOct 07, 2016
last month the state insurance commissioner, Julie Mix McPeak, approved premium increases of up to 62% in a bid to save the exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act. “I would characterize the exchange market in Tennessee as very near collapse,” she said. Then last week BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee announced it would leave three of the state’s largest exchange markets—Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. “We have experienced losses approaching $500 million over the course of ...

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. I believe that was one of Bernie’ ...

New Year's EveJan 01, 2011
Another year has come and gone.  We ended up going to the movies to see the Little Fockers.  It was pretty funny.  We went to the grocery store beforehand to pick up some snacks for today and then grabbed dinner at a fast food place the kids picked. Overall, it was a pretty good evening.  I went to bed about 11:30 (I tried but could not stay awake), but the kids stayed up till a little after 12 with DH.  After that, they went off to bed.  I'm actually looking ...

It's A New Year And I Just Want To Cry...Jan 01, 2015
I'm the parent of a toddler, no other kids.  I'm 42 and she just turned 3.  My husband is at home too, but he is disabled from physical issues as well as mental ones.  I was a stay-at-home transcriptionist way before I became a mother and I am overwhelmed with it all.  My husband is there for us maybe 50% of the time, which just isn't cutting it.  He is my only source of support, as we have no family, no friends (thank you isolating career move), and we ju ...

How Much Is Your Gas Today?Jan 07, 2011
A while back I posted a message that the oil commodity prices were going up and the last time oil was about $90, gas went to over $4.00.  Do you think there is less oil out there? The last time gas prices increased that much, oil companies reported record profits and Bush was president.  Hmmm.  Republicans have the House.  I think I will go buy some oil stock. ...

Wow, I Can See TodayJul 26, 2016
I cannot believe it. I had hardly any pain yesterday except after the drops were put in and today I can see to read quite a lot, not fine print, but can read this board and some other things. The colors are so bright and the white is so white and bright. I feel like I have new eyes. Thanks so much for praying all of you. BTW, they had to delay surgery for me and the first patient because something was wrong on the light. They finally got that fixed and I was only 20 minutes late going ...

DHS Did Something Right Today.Mar 03, 2015
Supposedly, DHS shut down 20 of these birth tourist homes, all in California. It costs up to $50K for the Chinese mothers-to-be to come and stay here, having their babies in a regular hospital, and then go home. The Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution grants automatic citizenship to everyone born in the United States. It was intended to ensure that freed slaves would be able to claim citizenship they rightly deserved. Today, however, some creative "birth tourists" are ta ...
