just got back from signing papers on my chapter 13

but I don't. Just feel like a loser with 5 years of payments being taken out of my check. Can't apply for a loan or anything. Hope my car holds up

You are NOT a loser, OP! Millions of hard-working Americans are in the same boat. Nobody can judge you, because they don't know when they might be in the same situation. Or already have been.

Did you consider chapter 7? I hate what you're going through with 13. Is it too late to file chapter 7, or is that even possible?

I dont have the money to do so right now. I can convert - but not until I get my tax return

You need to file a 7 and make all of this go away. Most BK attorneys take payments toward the Chap 7, you usually have to pay the filing fee up front. Mine took the filing and atty fees in 3 payments.

Should have filed Chapter 7, sorry. It will still affect your credit either way, 13 or 7, and 13 is a tough burden to bear. Hang in there.

a lien means not much of anything, have had 1 on my house before and? All that means is you have to paid it off if you want to sell the home. I got it paid off when I got around to it, no big deal. As far as that goes, I filed bankruptcy before and again no biggie. I just paid cash until years later when I went to get a car and my slate was just wiped clean. Now I have excellent credit. Don't sweat the small stuff and this is what it is. I never felt like a failure, not this lady.

I still have another year to go before I can collect Social Security. I have no medical care other than Medicaid, no source of income except for babysitting and other occasional cash transactions. Yet I'm happy, healthy, and have found I can still survive with next to nothing. Your survival skills in today's economy are definitely something you can feel proud of, because we have to get pretty creative to be able to do it.

We have been in chapter 13 for a year. Our payment keeps going up. However, I found some interesting information from the IRS for expense list that my lawyer did not include in our expenses and we have for expenses. Has anyone dealt with this? I asked my attorney about me moving out and he said it makes no difference if I live in the house or not, I still own the house and will get at least half if we sell after the past due taxes are paid.
