Role of women according to Mormon doctrine: Bear and raise

Posted: Oct 19, 2012

Romney's "If you must have women working" attitude is a direct reflection of this instruction to women from "The Role of Righteous Women,"

"Some women, because of circumstances beyond their control, must work. We understand that. We understand further that as families are raised, the talents God has given you and blessed you with can often be put to effective use in additional service to mankind. Do not, however, make the mistake of being drawn off into secondary tasks which will cause the neglect of your eternal assignments such as giving birth to and rearing the spirit children of our Father in Heaven. Pray carefully over all your decisions."

It also explains how fewer and fewer women worked at Bain over the years and were not replaced: The Mormon employees (Mormons hire fellow Mormons as much as possible) of course left as soon as they could to fulfill their roles as women. Other women were either not hired in the first place or were not promoted and left as a result. Note that promoting woman would encourage them to go against the will of God instead of devoting themselves to tending children at home, and the children's fathers too of course.

Long ago I worked for a few months in a Mormon owned business. During that summer, the college-student and doofy high-school grad sons were given jobs in sales, dressed in suits, and groomed for executive positions.

The lovely, intelligent daughter, who'd just graduated with a bachelor's degree in business management, was made a file clerk, running files back and forth for the customer service representatives in cubicles (the "if you're going to have women working" women, i.e. me). She was not happy at all but was too dutiful to go get another job; she'd just run into a reality that she hadn't thought through before.

I left soon after for a better job, BTW, having only come to get on-the-job training for a higher position I wanted (and would never get here), and also knowing Kathleen would not even be allowed to train for my skilled job (clerical that required 4-year degree, had a fair number of men, and paid well enough to support a family). Her first and last outside job would be file clerk in the family business, then marriage as soon as the families could bring her together with a suitable mate for eternity.

How embarrassing for me!

Not to worry, RC, if that includes husband too. God will not allow you to spend eternity - alone. Although...maybe you should. BTW,

polygamy is only illegal here on earth. In heaven, men can have multiple wives. Women can only have one husband--the same one here and for eternity--which obviously can present a problem for widows and abandoned wives, not to mention divorcees.

I just like that someone is actually disappointed in your spiritual failure as a Mormon.

Personally, I'm converting to the Mormon religion. As a guy, if I was a good Mormon, I'll get multiple wives and my own planet! Not a joke, actually part of the deal. Men get their own planet. It's great. I haven't decided if my planet will have a particular theme or not, like a gangster planet or cowboy planet. Also, you get to be your own god, as long as you remember that you're still a subordinate god to the big God. They're a bit vague in the scripture as to what kind of divine powers you get with that, but still a good deal any way you look at it.

Plus, me and my wives and endless generations of progeny can always visit God and his wife on their planet Kolob. Our wives can have a chat about what it's like cooking and cleaning our respective planets while God and I can talk about the ongoing war with Lucifer and his planet. Good times will be had by all. Unless you're not Mormon. Or a woman. Or divorced. Or a guy who wanted to be married to an intellectual, social and spiritual equal rather than some kind of live in maid/wet nurse/child incubator. Other than that, it sounds great.

I also like how they baptize victims of the Holocaust. Being half-Jewish, that warms my heart. My great grandparents would love to know that just because they died with their own spiritual and cultural beliefs because of a tyrannical madman, they still get to go to Mormon Heaven. All's well that ends well.

LOL! Hope it was one of our regulars from the dark side. I really don't - want to offend any Mormons who might be here,

just trying to poke a hole or two in Moromney's newest just-regular-joe schtick. Religion can matter very, very much, and I'm sure if he could he would be keeping that secret too.

My own MIL was 100% Jewish, and I'm just glad she's not around any more. Or maybe not. We'd have some good fun together, and I could still clean spit off the TV screen quickly. She was a very elegant lady normally (and I a constant ongoing project), but she could get a little overexcited around election time when they wouldn't come out and fight).

cowboy. definitely - (you get more animals)

Older Women Versus Younger Women And Trump/ClintonOct 10, 2016
Women who "like" Trump are invariably older and don't like Hilary Clinton because they were raised in an era of economic competition with each for men. In the old days, men generally took care of their women, and some women lucked out with good men and some stuck it out with bad ones. Young women can take care of themselves economically so aren't as threatened by other women so they're more apt to go for HIllary. Older women also don't like Clinton because she stuck with her ...
