Now Obamabomination Care Is Going to Raise Your

Posted: Mar 12, 2013

Okay, so it's been clear from day 1 that the idiots who put together Obamacare had absolutely no idea what they were doing - or the many unintended consequences that are already surfacing - among them:

1.  No, you can't keep your physician.

2.  No, the cost of healthcare isn't going down; it's skyrocketing.

3.  The preexisting condition insurance plan already has had to be shut down.  Announced today they can't accept any new patients.  135,000 signed up for it and the cost is unexpected despite the fact that 135,000 is really a very SMALL number of people served relative to the cost.

4.  Well, now the tax on medical equipment is going to impact your vet bill because they also use scalpels, syringes, IV tubing, etc.  It was explained by a congressional staffer that "they tried to exempt vets, but it was too complicated".  Too complicated for THESE idiots, yes.  So - just let it go through as is, right?

"It's too hard, mommy!"

"That's all right, honey.  You just tell that nasty old teacher that you aren't going to do your math!"

http://miami.cbslocal.com/2013/03/11/obamacare-may-bite-you-at-the-vets-office/

The buyer's remorse on both sides of the aisle continues to grow...and grow...and GROW.

I'm not surprised at the stupidity - but I am appalled at the pre-existing thing - people were counting on that. But those of us with half a brain and a lick of common sense knew this wasn't about healthcare in the first place - it was about total control or people's lives, bankrupting the economy, and building it up again - in their own image. God help us.

Obamabomination and some unintended consquences - Disgusted

[ In Reply To ..]
This is long, but I need to rant: A close relative is dealing with the ramifications on the WONDERFUL new health care plan. She lost her regular physician - he is not in her "plan". Her new physician issued a prescription for her diabetic medications and the plan refused to pay because he "wasn't her regular doctor". They transferred her call to another department, which showed that he IS her doctor and it is not their fault. It is the first department's fault and they need to correct some sort of number. Numerous attempts at explaining this by both the new physician AND the old one have failed. They claim to have no record of her EVER having seen the previous physician, whom she saw for over 20 years prior to all the changes. She is terminally ill with lung/brain cancer, she is also severely diabetic and cannot get any of her prescriptions filled for anything that is not cancer-related. She has been trying for weeks to straighten this out. She can see her oncologist, but he isn't allowed to write prescriptions for anything other than her chemo meds as they won't pay for them. They are removing most of her oxygen support equipment because they have decided from a distance that she no longer needs it. One department says they will only approve half the dose of one of her insulin meds, the meds they are no longer paying at this point anyway, from 240 units a day to barely 100, because they think her A1c doesn't support that requirement. NONE of this is being decided by a doctor as far as she knows, but rather by statistical charts. She is high-risk, high cost and she has become convinced that they WANT her and others like her to die to save the money for her care. Unintended consequences? Maybe, but this is a human LIFE in case anyone in Washington wasn't paying attention when they PASSED this "Obamabomination"...

This is sad beyond belief - I am so sorry she and you are going through this - The Sarge - sm

Your post really touched me. Maybe because my mom suffered from cancer. I don't understand how anyone can be for this and call themselves sympathetic. This is as bad as animal and child cruelty.

I'd write more, but it's too heartbreaking that they so proudly stand behind a system that they know will not be helping people.

But hey, why should they care, they have exempted themselves from this. I'm still hoping and praying that someone saves us from the monsters that are doing this to us.

My sincerest heartfelt best wishes go out to you and your friend. It is a hard struggle that nobody in her condition (or anyone for that matter) should have to go through. I have friend who supported this Obamabomination (i.e. Obamadontcare). Said she would be taken care of, would get the same level of care that he himself gets. Now she is struggling with trying to get her normal medications filled and having to go through similar situation. We tried telling her it would not end up good for everyday people like us and she didn't believe it. We told her you're not part of the club. Now she is finding out we were telling her the truth.

My best wishes go out to you and your friend. She will be in my thoughts and prayers.

What provision has even yet been implemented that would cause what you're talking about to occur to your relative as opposed to just the usual insurance-companies-screwing-us-over modus operandi being the reason?

I was wondering the same thing. Blaming ACA for turkey - baster more on target ;-)NM

Unfortunately, we're going to see more and more of this, - the ACA being blamed for everything.

Dang conveeenient for the vets' offices that are probably going to jack up bills 10% or more due to a 2% increase in a piece of equipment that can be sterilized and reused. Etc., etc., ad nauseam. I can just hear the multitude of greedy hands rubbing in glee that they've got a nice new scapegoat to blame all their gouging on.
Some people CAN only lash out blindly. Yet another way - the ACA will serve--as punching bag. :) As for

veterinarian fees, we're winding down our decades-long life as a pet family BECAUSE vet bills had already grown too high. Care we feel we owe our three pets approaching their elder years could conceivably put us in debt for years. Care for new ones over a lifetime?

It's not just that vet fees've greatly increased as two-income households have allowed them to charge more.

It's also that more can now be done for pets, just as for humans, due to modern medicine. But, hey, we didn't have an extra $800 lying around 3 years ago (nothing at all to do with Obamacare) when we paid that to save the life of one of our cats with a kidney obstruction. This is when we made our decision, almost $300 having been paid out the year before.

Simple fact is, treatments that are now routine were in previous decades simply not considered. And, also unlike previous decades, half our country is becoming poorer even as vet charges rise. I haven't researched, but I suspect our own sad decision to not adopt homeless animals in future is being mirrored in many households.

I'm in the same boat. We still have 3 dogs and a cat (lost our 2 elders last year) and my heart is in my mouth every time one of them has a limp or a cough or goes off his/her feed.

And what part of this is supposed to be new? THIS is - why we had to have reform. So, you

[ In Reply To ..]
don't like that venal insurance companies are determined to pay out as little as possible in care for your relative? WHY then were you so determined to keep them between patients and physicians that you opposed all efforts to fix this before the suffering came home to your own family?

If you don't like the way the old recordkeeping systems work, ask yourself WHY you oppose reforming them so that any physician or diagnostic laboratory in the country can pull up her record--one BTW that she would have the right to review for errors and completeness from home.

Ask yourself WHY you think it was a good idea to take as long as possible to phase in reforms so that they're not already in place to help her.

What's happening to your poor relative (I won't ask where she was on all this as so many others suffered over the years) IS a tragedy, and what you should be asking yourself is WHY on earth we all didn't fix this decades ago so that it would have been very different for her.

this has nothing to do with Obamacare - doe

We have a byzantine insurance system staffed largely by ineffective individuals who are merely out-of-the-loop phone and desk personnel. Errors are rampant.

It's terrible that your relative is going through this. I do hope she (or an advocate) tries to escalate this issue to the next level with the insurance company. Otherwise, she should contact the insurance commissioner of the state.

Call the insurance company. Get a supervisor on the phone. It's helpful, when talking to the supervisor, to explain that it will be necessary for you to contact the insurance commissioner TOMORROW if the issue cannot be resolved today. Then, contact the insurance commissioner.

Your relative needs immediate medical care, and I hope she can obtain it at once.

I understand what everyone is saying about the ACA, but according to what her healthcare provider (which is under a division of Medicare/Medicaid) is telling her, this is a DIRECT result of the changes enacted by ACA. I don't claim to be an expert, nor am I the one interpreting the changes. I'm taking the provider's word for it, not blaming the ACA from a personal standpoint. I'm glad it is benefiting some out there - if in fact it is. Her health care was perfectly fine prior to January 1st. Now she effectively has no access to a "regular" doctor. Attack my viewpoint all you want, it is still a free country and you are welcome to it. I'll keep taking the coverage provider's word for it and blame the ACA.

Clearly, your relative needs care she is not getting. It would be irresponsible in this settting to take the provider's word for it. It may make you feel better to blame the ACA, but that's not going to get your relative the care she requires.

inaccurate re: preexisting insurance plan (PCIP) - doe

[ In Reply To ..]
The PCIP is not being shut down; this is inaccurate. Rather: "PCIP is a temporary program for those locked out of the current insurance marketplace. The program has a limited amount of funding from Congress."

"Starting next year, the Affordable Care Act guarantees that all Americans – regardless of their health status or pre-existing conditions – will finally have access to quality, affordable coverage."

Will Universal Health Care Raise Our Taxes?Feb 06, 2016
I see people cringe when Sanders says he will raise taxes so he can get his healthcare system in place. I would welcome a tax increase if it means we do not have to pay insane insurance premiums. I look at it this way, if my family has to pay $1,000 or even $3,000 more in taxes but then we get our healthcare free of charge. We just saved $3,500 to $4,000 over all. I will take 3 grand more in taxes if it means I do not have to spend 7 grand that same year in insurance and medical costs. People ne ...
