More fairy tales? - Smitty

[ In Reply To ..]
These little conservative fairy tales using farm animals to make a point are embarrassing. Not surprising, however, considering the source. Fairy tales have been used to control the masses since ancient times.

you may not want to hear it from... - a conservative viewpoint

[ In Reply To ..]
but how about some common sense and a little dose of reality. I have never heard of fairy tales being used to control the masses, possibly and maybe to help the liberal/feeble-minded though.

The only fairy tale is the one you live in. - just me/hmmm

[ In Reply To ..]
It's not just the conservatives saying this. The fairy tale is the one you live in saying everything is just peachy-keen.

Well sorry, but it isn't. More people are continuing to lose their jobs, more homes are continuing to be foreclosed. Companies are moving overseas. It's getting worse and worse and I've heard people of many political parties and even some observers from other countries say we are pretty much heading into a depression if not in one right now.

Time to wake up.

We were on the way back up and then Dubai dropped its bombshell, rocking stock markets worldwide.

Isn't it scary when Big Business has so much control over how our little lives go? That's a good argument for regulation I would think. When the stock market reflects how the rich spend or don't spend and that impacts my daily life, I need some protection from rampant greed and speculation.

Good observation - just me/hmmm

If anyone thought I was blaming the current president for the economic "woes" of the country I am not. It was just an interesting article I thought that everything is not peachy-keen as some people like to think, and your observation of Dubai was very keen. So many other countries play a part in our economics. Then there is the feds and what they are up to, and people like Soros, Rothchild's, etc (from all over the world) that could inflate, collapse, or anything they want to do to our economy that could plunge us into a depression. I just don't believe that is a "fairy tale". I've been reading a lot about what is happening in the stock market worlds. It's just all very unsettling that as you say - big business has so much control over our lives.

Thank you for your post. I definitely agree with you on this.

Amen, sista! I couldn't agree more! (nm) - Nikki

Why We Are In A RecessionJun 11, 2012
We are in this recession because of the largest financial meltdown since the Depression, brought about by total lack of regulation of the financial industry.  Do you really think we can climb out of this in just a few years?  Do those of you who want to get rid of Obama want to put back the people who brought about this recession in the first place?  Unless there is some oversight of the financial industry, the same thing will happen again.  The Dems may not have been able to ...

Worst Of US Recession OverOct 12, 2009
The worst U.S. recession since the Great Depression has ended, but weak household spending as the labor market struggles to create jobs will slow the pace of the economy's recovery, according to a survey released on Monday. The survey of 44 professional forecasters released by the National Association of Business Economists (NABE) found that 80 percent of the respondents believed the economy was growing again after four straight quarters of declines. "The great recession is over," said NA ...

Is Janet Yellen Trying To Trigger A Recession ForMar 09, 2017
Trump might want to put a call in to Janet Yellen. The Fed is supposed to be a neutral, independent entity. However, that myth went out the window when Bernanke “gifted” QE 3 to Obama in 2012 to aid with the latter’s re-election bid. The Yellen Fed seems to be even more committed to defining the Fed as nothing more than a leftist establishment mechanism. Back in October when it still looked like Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 Presidential election, Yellen commented that she was c ...

From The Atlantic: " I'm about to share a statistic that you should remember every time you think about the Great Recession, and why the recovery has been so painstaking. It's going to illustrate precisely how devastating the downturn was for your typical American family, and the size of the hole we've been trying to dig ourselves out of. Ready? Here goes: Between 2007 and 2010, the median net worth of U.S. households fell by 47 percent, reaching its lowest level in more than fo ...

Depression, What To Do?Sep 22, 2011
As horrible as it sounds, I hate my job.  We have new QA's and they're horrible.  Nine years of working for the same company and I suddenly find myself unable to get out of bed in the morning.  I'm so tired all the time and dread working.  I'm lucky to have a job and naturally can't quit it but does anyone have any suggestions on how to pull yourself out of this funk? I've started getting out once a day and walking and that takes all I have but t ...

Depression Is NotMay 20, 2016
I remember at the worst of my depression, people would say, even church goers that I was feeling sorry for myself. Then I would get the you are not a victim. I beg to differ about the victim. At any rate, I got mad when people would say that I was feeling sorry for myself and I stopped going to church if the pastor would say that in a sermon. That is one of the worst things anyone can say to someone. It is not guilt I felt as much as anger that my own Christian brothers and sisters in Chri ...

Depression, Etc.Jan 18, 2015
If I am not mistaken there were those in the Bible who suffered from depression and they followed God. Now my opinion is that it does not help anyone to say to them that they are having a pity party. That person is trying to explain how they got to feeling as they do. Others can depress you with their actions albeit deliberately or whatever. To criticize anyone going through a hard time by saying this turns me off. I have heard preachers on TV start talking about pity parties. Okay, lastl ...

MT DepressionSep 08, 2015
Anyone just sit and cry doing MT - not because the report is depressing but because you are just so down about your job?  It makes it worse when you are older and you feel like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place.  By that I mean you are and "older" MT and really do not want to train for anything new but can't quite retire for a few years.  It just stinks. ...

Depression In SeniorsOct 19, 2009
My boyfriend's parents are quite elderly and mother is slightly demented but alert and oriented most of the time. They sleep until 11 or 12 noon daily and go to bed around 10 p.m. The rest of the time they drive to McDonald's for 2 meals a day and otherwise sit in chairs staring at the TV (which is turned all the way up, rest of the house dark). The father is cranky and argumentative, increasingly so. The family calls them "happy as clams." I see depression -- they would appear to have ...

TOLD YA! We're In A DEPRESSIONAug 24, 2010
This has been obvious for MONTHS, but now finally the "dirty word" has been uttered in mainstream media. (I and a few others have been posting it this board for weeks.)  We are in a DEPRESSION, not a RECESSION. Depression And The LordJan 10, 2015
I have a question. A deeply religious person told me once that people who have depression, have it because they haven't found the Lord. Explain, please. Does that mean (in their belief )that people with depression are being punished?? Also, I know some very deeply religious Christians who have found the Lord and still suffer terribly from depression. In other words, they found the Lord, but still have depression. So, that doesn't make sense to me. No Bible quotes, please. ...

Has Anyone Ever Taken A Homeopathic Medicine For Depression?Apr 14, 2011
I've tried several of the traditional medications for depression - Prozac, Effexor, and Zoloft.  They work for a while, I had some side effects, but then they stopped working and the depression came back every time.  I've heard more cons than pros about St. John's Wort, so I'm not sure I want to go that route, but would like to hear from anyone else who has tried the homeopathic route and got good results (or bad, so I know what to stay away from!) Severe Depression And AnxietyMay 16, 2016
