Nuclear Fallout/FBMar 18, 2011So, I've been obsessing over what's going on in Japan because my sister-in-law's family live about 200 miles from where the big stuff happened and we're worried. I found an interesting and informative news article about the radiation cloud already having reached California and a real-time map showing the progression of the cloud. It was just kind of a FYI thing, mostly for my sake, but since the rest of my family is following the news too, we have another too ...

I Encourage You To Watch Sky News About The Fire And Political FalloutJun 16, 2017I would encourage you to watch Sky News about the fire. You will see how the politicians there are taking a lot of hatred from the victims of that high rise fire.

U.S. shoppers spent 6.4 percent more this Black Friday weekend than last year and hit department stores and clothing shops, rather than focusing on discounters as they had done in recent years.

More Good News On The Economic FrontDec 02, 2010NEW YORK (Reuters) - Pending home sales unexpectedly surged in October, hinting the economic recovery has legs. Also, the four-week moving average for jobless claims fell to a fresh two-year low, though new claims were higher for the week.

Restoring America's Economic Mobility...Nov 19, 2016that whoever you are, you have the same chance as anyone else to rise, with pluck, industry, and talent. But they imagine wrong. The U.S. today lags behind many of its First World rivals in terms of mobility. A class society has inserted itself within the folds of what was once a classless country, and a dominant New Class—as social critic Christopher Lasch called it—has pulled up the ladder of social advancement behind it....

Think About This: Illegal Immigration Is The Economic EquivalentDec 28, 2015It makes no difference in terms of the economic impact on wages whether an employer exports the work to where the cheap labor is located, or takes advantage of cheap labor that comes to where the work is located.
The only difference is that one means used to drive wages lower and keep them low is legal, while the other means is not.
Think about it. Just about everyone on this forum hates what offshoring has done to OUR wages, and yet some support illegal and/or unrestricted immigra ...
High Cost Of Low Politics: Expected EconomicOct 20, 2013Excerpt of statement from the NY Times Editorial Board, link to entire statement below.
"Early this year, it was widely acknowledged that the economy was in for a tough patch. The “fiscal cliff” showdown at the end of 2012 had led to higher payroll taxes and had locked in earlier cuts to jobless benefits, while “the sequester” — deep and arbitrary federal spending cuts enacted to end a previous debt standoff — kicked in on March 1. The only consolation at the ...
Southern Conservatives Struggling Over Economic Advancement VersusOct 21, 2012is running into much the same intractable head-butting instead of sensible solutions here as the rest of the country.

Election Day Thoughts ...Nov 02, 2010I used to vote for who I wanted in office because we had credible, responsible candidates - promising, at the least. Now I vote to keep out the lesser of the evils.

1. May we all vote in peace, without threat or harm or intereference.
2. May all who are able to vote soberly cast their vote.
