What do you do when the Congressional Research Service, the completely non-partisan arm of the Library of Congress that has been advising Congress—and only Congress—on matters of policy and law for nearly a century, produces a research study that finds absolutely no correlation between the top tax rates and economic growth, thereby destroying a key tenet of conservative economic theory?

If you are a Republican member of the United States Senate, you do everything in your power to suppress that report—particularly when it comes less than two months before a national election where your candidate is selling this very economic theory as the basis for his candidacy.

Initially released on September 14, 2012, the study—authored by Thomas Hungerford who is a specialist in public finance at the C.R.S.—correlated the historical fluctuations of the highest income tax rates and tax rates on capital gains dating back to World War II with the economic growth (or lack of the same) that followed....

CONCLUSION?

“The reduction in the top tax rates appears to be uncorrelated with saving, investment and productivity growth. The top tax rates appear to have little or no relation to the size of the economic pie. However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution.”

This Congressional report tears the whole foundation out - from under Romney's economic plan. No wonder

suppressed. Of note, President Truman, looking at projected economic growth for the rest of the century (which came true) expected working class incomes to DOUBLE over what they were then. Of course, we let our pie cutter fall into the hands of a powerful few, and that didn't happen.

Maybe this truth will mark a definitive end to the second Gilded Age era of greed - built on the original lie starting in the 1980s.nm

of the 47% out there that either think Romney is so great or their blind hatred for Obama is so great that they're unwilling (like Congressional Republicans) to even help with this economy a little bit.

Romney wants to LOWER taxes on the wealthy by another 20% (via his "across the board" tax decrease) and receive even LESS revenue than they pay now, and when these everyday Romney people vote for him, they will find that he is only worried about the rich -- not the other 47% of American people, as he stated.

I post from Forbes articles and get dislikes. You post from Forbes and get likes.

It's a real shame that some posters on this board won't weigh facts, just decide to hate posters and their links that don't agree with them.

Your link just verifies my point.

Have a nice day.

Don't you always? After, google the subject and find - DOZENS of discussions. Links had already

been posted to N.Y. Times and, I think, Washington Post articles.

Then, of course, pick and choose as you're inclined. People who search for truth find it. People who search for lies to support a lie find lots of those too. That doesn't make those kinds of people equal. In all this time, truly, I can't remember a single instance where you acknowledged a truth unless it seemed to support a lie. But then there are precious few of those, aren't there.

Sorry to disappoint you but I've also posted links - backwards typist

to NY Times and Washington Post plus Examiner, besides the ones I listed in an earlier post, yet got dislikes, probably from you.

I don't hit dislike just because its a certain poster. If I did that, I wouldn't have time to research any news items. LOL

You can't even take a joke, so you made my point again.

Income Inequality May Take Toll on Growth By ANNIE LOWREY WASHINGTON — Income inequality has soared to the highest levels since the Great Depression, and the recession has done little to reverse the trend, with the top 1 percent of earners taking 93 percent of the income gains in the first full year of the recovery. Obama Job GrowthOct 06, 2014
"What’s now clear is that the Obama administration policies have outperformed the Reagan administration policies for job creation and unemployment reduction. Even though Reagan had the benefit of a growing Boomer class to ignite economic growth, while Obama has been forced to deal with a retiring workforce developing special needs. During the eight years preceding Obama there was a net reduction in jobs in America. We now are rapidly moving toward higher, sustainable jobs growth." ...

According to author Leo Tolstoy, born at the very end of the Little Ice Age, in quite a cold country: "The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he already knows, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him." That Job-growth Crushing ObamacareNov 12, 2015
We know, for example, that in 2014 – the first full year of ACA implementation – the job market in the United States had its best year since the late 1990s. Indeed, hiring in 2014 was so strong, it surpassed literally any single year in either Bush presidency, and even many of the years in the Clinton era. Postscript: I’d be remiss if I neglected to note that new jobs are being created in the health-care industry at an extraordinary pace. The industry added more ...
