see there is a COLB. NOT the legal long form with physician signatures. There is no state seal on it. This is the first one they posted with no state seal, and then, when that was pointed out, miraculously they came up with one with a state seal. PLEASE. Politifact is run by a newspaper, and hardly the last word on ANYTHING.

Factcheck.org is an extremely left-leaning organization (Annenberg) and it doesn't matter, NONE Of them have the legal long form, which is what people want to see.

This has been hashed and re-hashed. He claims there is a legal long form, he just refuses to produce it.

everyone born in Hawaii has one. It follows that if he was born in Hawaii he has one. By claiming he was born in Hawaii, he is also claiming that he has the legal long form birth certificate that was issued from the hospital of his birth like everyone born in the United States has. Here is the problem. The state of Hawaii will allow people who were residents of Hawaii for a year before the birth but out of Hawaii when child was born can come back to hawaii and obtain a COLB...just like Obama has:

But here is the problem, according to the State of Hawaii, it is possible to register an out of state birth in Hawaii and receive a COLB:

[Â§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State. (a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.

(b) Proof of legal residency shall be submitted to the director of health in any manner that the director shall deem appropriate. The director of health may also adopt any rules pursuant to chapter 91 that he or she may deem necessary or proper to prevent fraudulent applications for birth certificates and to require any further information or proof of events necessary for completion of a birth certificate.

(c) The fee for each application for registration shall be established by rule adopted pursuant to chapter 91. [L 1982, c 182, Â§1]

That does NOT circumvent the Constitution which requires him to be a natural born citizen, meaning he had to have been born on American soil. If he was born in a hospital in Hawaii, as he says he was, then he has to have a long form birth certificate from that hospital with the delivering physician's signature on it.

Frankly, I don't think he has one. I think he was born in Indonesia and his mother came back to Hawaii and filed for a COLB. And THAT is probably why he can't produce the long form issued by the hospital...because he was not born in Hawaii.
