I must have scared my mom when I told her I wanted to be a boy. Transgender issues were the furthest thing from my mind. I knew I could never be president because I was a girl. I heard this at school. My teachers always gave the boys the most attention in class and I knew that the same opportunities were not open to me. I even had to argue with my dad that I should go to college--there was no question in my mind that I deserved to go to college. I saw the only things ahead of me were being a nurse, a teacher. secretary or a stay at home mom. I thought I might want to be an astronaut or maybe be in the military or maybe even be the president.
Many things have changed and there are women astronauts and women in the military. But now, little girls who are growing up now will know that yes, they can be president, and they do not have to wish they were boys.
I never thought I would be so excited on the eve of the election tomorrow. Thank you Hillary!
