All of these I HATE O posts crack me up.

Posted: Jan 28, 2010

What is the senate for?  What does congress do?  Some of the opinions stated here clearly show nothing but personality conflicts - Bush or O, doesn't matter.

Bottom line - O walked into a disaster when he took office.  The lies about the state of the economy -  Bush did not do that by himself either (congress).  What we heard up until his last 6 months in office was, "The economy is strong."

Perhaps so far in this administration some things should have been done differently (banks come to mind), congress had a big hand in that too.

As far as his "promises" for the future - These are nothing but his goals people.  He cannot do them alone (again, congress).

The Americans cannot blame any 1 president for the SOTU - they really do not have that much power.  I think people in general should be more concerned about congressmen collectively and what brought us to this point.  They are really the ones who control what happens about the war, education, healthcare, bail-outs, and on and on.  It is very convenient for them to claim ignorance of all the mechanics of these issues, and then blame the president.  These are nothing but political games to appease their voting public and therein lies the real crime.

If you don't like O, fine - you just can't blame him for everything.  He is supposed to be our leader - but you when you lead horses to the water, you still cannot make them drink.

Good post. I do remember Bush saying our economy is strong - Holly

Right while it was sliding into a hole, he said OUR ECONOMY IS STRONG.

The people who are bashing Obama, never liked him even in the primaries. I see the same people on here from before the election... the ones that said he was muslim, he wasn't american, he was a socialist yada yada and that he could never win. Well he won and they are just angry because they listen to shock jocks and watch faux news.

I can't believe how ignorant people can be that the republicans have been for the very rich for a very long time.......and nobody typing medical records is in that category.

Right, we need to demand more from Congress - Tired of it

[ In Reply To ..]
All they worry about is appeasing their financial supporters and their election results. They need to become a little more educated about what affects our economy instead of pleading ignorance and blaming the president or anyone else for that matter. The American public is really tired of all the political games and bull. Even the media has a responsibility here that they ignore. All they do is dig up dirt on people - and that is what they think people want to hear. Who cares if John Edwards is a pig? State it, get over it, and go on to more important issues that could be investigated and revealed that have a direct affect on the American taxpayers.

there will always be a group - sab

who will continue to vote for the bloated, red-faced (drinking) white hair republicans like the ones sitting back and smirking in the audience last night. Even though their goal is to reduce the government (read take away any protection for the middle and lower class) and lower tax and restrictions on business (read help the rich get away with more). Go figger.
"bloated, red-faced (drinking) white hair" Sounds like Ted Kennedy!! - could add few more for him....nm

Talk about hipocracy - you want to try and bring up some drunk repub senators? Keep on doing it. Ted Kennedy was a murderer on top of an alkie. Keep it up - I'll provide the liberal drunks in power.

Yeah, he said alot of things - Remember these?

"Our economy is strong." Lied and hid that as long as they could when the country was financially on the brink of collapse. He did not quite make it out of office before it hit the fan and he was the one just handing out checks left and right. Congress right there backing him up and approving everything believing everything.

Or how about the "weapons of mass destruction", or the one I really got tired of is "bring them to justice." Congress fell for that too. Approved every bit of it.

Yep, the minute O stepped into office we heard, "This country is in serious trouble." And now it is all his fault and even Congress will question everything he does or tries to do. They have been burned real bad with lies in the past, and their ignorance to know the difference.

No one wants to address the healthcare issues, the unemployment, the bail-outs, the banks. Heck, the revenue just from Medicare fraud and offshoring would go a long way to economic recovery in this country In the first place, Congress is not smart enough to figure them out. In the second place, and more important to them, they might step on someone's toes by addressing this. Not politically correct. It could affect their popularity.

You would think Congress would wake up and start doing their job. The state of this country for the last 9 years rests squarely on their shoulders.

Truth in advertising - NJ

[ In Reply To ..]
Truth in advertising doesn't seem to apply in political races. Swiftboating may not have anything to do with truth, but freedom of speech rules! Especially if it is exaggerations, out of context, and outright lies! Of course, that same freedom of speech does not apply when people point out the lies.

Rove elevated dirty politics to an extraordinary height and we've yet to come back down to reality.

If we could get away from the National Enquirer mentality, maybe our elected officials wouldn't be so afraid to speak up and speak out. Until we, the electorate, prove ourselves able to hear and discern the truth, we won't be getting as much of it as we deserve.

I don't hate O. I don't hate anyone. I've strongly disliked people but never hated anyone.

I've stated here before - a president is like an NFL QB - too much credit when things go right and too much blame when they go wrong.

You're right - Obama is supposed to be our leader. When is he going to start actually leading instead of throwing ideas around or apologizing to other countries for the U.S.?

Maybe you could also give Obama advice and tell him - to stop blaming Bush too.

[ In Reply To ..]
...and what gets me is, the Bush economy (and I am no W fan) was actually very good until the 6th year when democrats regained control of Congress. They were even warned of the Fannie/Freddie disaster (good ole Barney), but chose to ignore it. Bush even TRIED to fix Social Security, but the dems in Congress opposed that. Obama has tripled our debt in one year and NOTHING is improving as of yet. I hope it does, but his condescending lectures and socialistic view of how money works is really frightening. You think Bush was bad? He is worse.. much worse.

Your post doesn't go far enough but its a good start - smokethis

[ In Reply To ..]
You are right on that CONGRESS writes and passes law, but they can't get it passed without the president (except for veto-proof bills).

So they work hand in hand - the president signals what he wants and often gets it from Congress.

But neither Congress OR the president is really in charge. In a corrupt capitalist society, imperialist to boot, there are OTHERS controlling the CONGRESS.

Until or unless Americans get a clue just how deep the corruption runs, they are destined to be bamboozled by BOTH main parties who only TAKE TURNS in power to give the APPEARANCE of democracy.

OBAMA WANTS to be a better figurehead, but he is still a figurehead and has very little real power.

So SMALL PEOPLE who want to point fingers at individual people like Bush OR O are missing the bigger picture.

Outstanding post! - Sick Of It~

Too many misinformed opinions, too many hot-heads, and not to mention posters who know nothing of our system and how it works. Have posted here before only to meet with rude insults and total ignorance to my point. I read here from time to time and simply can't believe the uncivil hostility either - not something I care to participate in and it is quite honestly the only reason some people come here. Fine for them I guess.
Totally agree. That is why I have sworn off - Colleen

So, while Granholm was ranting and waving her arms around like a crackbaby, when she got to the "brilliant" auto bailout, supporters were screaming approval and waving FORD signs.  Not Chevy or Chrysler - FORD. Umm...Ford did not take auto bailout money. Time after time this week, the DNC delegates illustrated that they don't have a clue what's going on, but can they get any DIMMER than this?  Hoo-boy!   ...

Earlier, I gave you the DNC delegates proudly waving FORD banners while the auto bailout was being touted from the podium.  Of course, Ford didn't take bailout money. GOP Opposition To Rice On Libya Attack Begins To Crack; McCain CouldNov 26, 2012
From the Washington Post: "Republican opposition to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice as the next secretary of state began to crack Sunday as Sen. John McCain said she was “not the problem” in the White House’s handling of the Sept. 11 attack in Libya and suggested he could be persuaded to swing behind her possible nomination." “I think she deserves the ability and the opportunity to explain herself and her position,” McCain, R-Ariz., told “Fox News Sunday.” ...

Psychology Of Hate, 7 Stages Of Hate.Aug 27, 2012
I got to wondering once again what is behind some of the behaviors we see on a lot of forums, so I went looking. This link discusses one model, explained by a former FBI behavioral analyst, that is easy to apply to on-line forum discussions, where behaviors would, of course, play out in the first four stages. (The discussion on skinhead groups can be skipped over, if desired, with the actual 7 stages explained below.) It was the last section, though, on how indulging in hate tends to play out ...

"GOP Resolve On Sequester Begins To Crack"Feb 07, 2013
Commentary from the Washington Post: "There’s been a good deal of chatter to the effect that Republicans still retain leverage in the sequester fight, because some of them are willing to let the sequester happen. But Politico reports that GOP resolve is cracking, with GOPers privately conceding that they’d prefer to reach a deal, because the politics of allowing deep spending cuts, a gutting of defense, and a major hit to the economy are too dangerous. Of course, GOP aides ...
