It's been awhile since I posted to this forum. With republican candidates gearing up

Posted: Aug 19, 2011

and throwing their hats into the ring for the upcoming elections next year, I decided to sift through the archives of this board, going back to 2008 election and up to Obama's inauguration.  It was interesting to read all the very heated posts on both sides of the party lines.  In January of 2009, the last thing I posted on the subject of Obama was:

"Time will reveal King Obama's inexperience and shortcomings."

It made me wonder, where are all those passionate Obama supporters that posted back then?  This boards has become relatively quiet compared to back then.  So I wanted to ask the Obama supporters then and now, How do you feel now after 2-1/2 years under Obama?

Some posters positively gushed over Obama and his ideas for healthcare reform and his stimulus plan.

Personally, I knew in 2009 that Obama was not the savior all his supporters thought he would be.  I can only hope that time has revealed to his supports what the rest of us already knew.

The Obama supportes also posted running countdowns of days, minutes, and hours until Bush was out and Obama was in.  Perhaps now we can start the countdown for Obama's final days in the White House cuz I don't think he's getting a second term.

;

I think he's trying, but he took on a mess that - may never be able to be fixed.

I honestly believe that this particular term, it wouldn't have mattered whether a Republican or a Democrat, or anyone else, had won this past election. What they inherited was the worst mess anyone has ever made of the country and the government. It took 8 long years to get us into this mess, and it'll probably take 20 to get us out.

If we ever do.

It has taken longer than 8 years - sm

I'm so sick and tired of everything is Bush's fault BS. Yes...he is partly to blame but Clinton didn't help us when he demanded banks give risky loans so everyone could own a house. That worked out well for us.

I agree to a certain extent that I don't know if anyone coming in after Bush's administration could have really pulled us out of this hole. However, Obama is digging the hole deeper. His policies, spending, etc. have done nothing but make our economy shakier than it was under Bush.

I've said it before and I'll say it again....Bush made things bad...Obama is making it worse.

Obama doesn't deserve another term and many other politicians should be voted out as well. Let's get rid of the republicans who had no trouble spending like crazy until it become unpopular with the American citizens....they need to go too!

Besides, I still say Obama's airstrikes on Libya without the approval on congress is unconstitutional and that on top of his spending is enough, IMO, to give him a permanent vacation.

I agree. Obama has made it SO much worse. He is not - cleaning up a mess, just making it bigger.

He has no experience to handle the economy or healthcare! We need a leader. Obama is not THE ONE.

Corporations run this country now. It does not - matter who is president SM

now except for the social issues. I vote progressive on social issues so I will definitely not be voting republican.

Was waffling, thinking, deciding, wondering - then today, bam! I just decided, I'm gonna do it!  I've got about a month to churn stuff out - make some big pieces, then some smaller things (lots of smaller things), some fun humorous things.  Just to guage interest, before I start putting stuff on eBay or Etsy. I tried to find the message and answers but unable to do so. One person was very informative about a child she knew, perhaps related? One person talked about a test to give a child to find out what he knew, how to learn, etc. and I need some more input if possible. The mother has tried to and the only thing they did was test the child to see if he spoke English, yes to that but he is not focusing. I told the mother every school system should have something in effect to help students because seem ...

My Understanding Of This ForumFeb 22, 2012
I love to discuss political issues in an intelligent fashion, and I have friends w/ vastly different opinions than my own.  Sure, sometimes it gets a little heated because we are committed to our beliefs.  Thing is, we can sit and discuss the issues w/o calling each other nasty names and judging each other.  Maybe I'm a bit naive, but I can't understand ehy we can't address issues w/o personally attacking each other.  Some of the posts here would make a stellar ...

It Looks Like This Forum Is Aflame. Is It SomethingSep 14, 2012
I heard some of these right-wing Middle Easterners are aflame over Masonic-Jewish conspiracies, which made my hair stand on end. Just Curious About Non-MTs On This Forum. SmNov 26, 2012
I saw part of a post the other day where someone said there were posters here who are not transcriptionists. How many are there? Guess I just assumed that everyone who frequented here was an MT.  I am just curious why you are hanging around a political forum that is part of a transcriptionist forum.  Obviously, you are allowed to post here, but just find it odd you would want to hang around with us.  LOL.  It must be boring here with so many other political forums to post on. ...

My Run Down Of The GOP CandidatesAug 20, 2011
After doing much research, I'm leaning towards Santorum.  Perry and Romney are nothing but democrats in disguise. As much as I like Bachmann, I just don't think a conservative woman has a chance. As much as I like Herman Cain, his lack of experience scares me. I'm on the fence about Ron Paul.  I like the way he stands on a lot of issues, but he stills come across to me as a little nutty and I don't know if he just doesn't present himself well or what. Any ...

Which Candidates Do You Like?Mar 01, 2014
It seems most threads begin with something or someone people don't like - I'm more interested in what/who you do like? :) I don't know of anyone on the horizon that would fit the bill, but I'd like to see someone who isn't a party puppet - someone that isn't afraid to step outside of party lines to put the country first, rather than party politics - but they'd lose financial support if they did. And let's not forget all those lobbyists' money they ...

Rich CandidatesFeb 02, 2012
I'm wondering why the talk is suddenly anti-Romney because he's rich?  If my info is correct, John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry had a net worth of about $750 million when he ran for president (along with 5 or 6 very luxurious homes) but it didn't make him look like a bad guy - just a rich guy.   In other words, at what point did it become a bad thing to be a rich presidental candidate?  Personally, I don't care how much money the candidate has.  I' ...

The Two Candidates And Their Agendas. Oct 30, 2012

Yes, the candidates have been reluctant to publish some unpleasant details of their policies. Most presidential candidates in modern times don’t, for the understandable reason that details can be cherry-picked for attack ads. Yes, identifying Romney’s plan requires some gue ...

The level of political discourse on this forum is petty and childish far more than informative or objective. Candidates' Deficit Plans Don't Add UpOct 01, 2012
As the government closes the books Sunday with a $1.1 trillion deficit for the year, which required borrowing 32 cents for every dollar it spent, budget analysts have little confidence in either presidential candidate's plan to address the accumulating debt, now at about $16 trillion. The Republican nominee promises to balance the budget in eight years to 10 years, but he also offers a mix of budgetary contradictions: higher Pentagon spending, restoring cuts that Democrats made in Medicare ...

Messages To Our Presidential CandidatesFeb 14, 2016
I believe every single American medical transcriptionist should contact all candidates running for president and inform them of our plight (competing with India for our jobs) as well as the fact that the majority of the American population is probably not aware that their personal and medical information could potentially be sent to India. Some of the candidates have talked about bringing jobs back to America, but none has mentioned this issue. Let's inform them. I have provided an alpha ...
