I agree with a lot of what that article said actually. However, in the case of Shirley Sherrod, she admitted to not using her full force to help a farmer merely because he was white. No matter how you try and spin that....that is racism...racism that she herself admitted to when she told her story. Sherrod rightly lost her job just like Mark Williams was rightly kicked out of the tea party for his racist blog.

And some are so determined to undermine - the message that they

When you tell a story about the personal - sm

growth you went through from looking at someone different because of their color and later realizing that shouldn't have been an issue....that is a great message and I applaud Sherrod for that. However, her speech to the NAACP said nothing about her personal growth until the very end and some of her statements she used to tell the story were very racially insensitive....not to mention the reaction from the crowd.

No matter what her story is today, she admitted to allowing her prejudices against a white person interfere with her ability to do her job and give 100% to the person who needed her help.

You can talk about redemption all you want but when you use terms such as "his own kind" in a speech about race...that is a racially insensitive comment.

She also said that the farmer was trying to show he was superior to her. She never said how. She made it sound like that is just something white people do. Kind of like Obama's comment about his grandmother being a "typical white person." Well...how is a typical white person? How was this farmer trying to show his superiority to you? These are racial comments no matter how you look at it.

I applaud her for working with that farmer and coming to the realization that she had to help him as well no matter what color he was. However, the way she presented this story was racially insensitive and admitted her past racism in regards to her doing her job properly.

Her changed opinion on helping a white person doesn't change the fact that she allowed race to interfere with her job.

Great Article On Boehner By BBCOct 08, 2013
"On a very simple level, the closing of most of the American federal government can be pinned on the ambitions of one man, Speaker of the House John Boehner. ... This Congress is held in the lowest public esteem since the invention of public opinion polls. And the Republicans are more disliked than the Democrats. Once seen as a skilled dealmaker, Mr Boehner isn't able to make deals. Never seen as an ideologue, he has now relinquished control of the Republican policy agenda to the party&# ...

Knee InjectionsOct 21, 2009
Have you ever had Synvisc, Euflexxa, Hyalgan, or Supartz injections?  Did they help?  I've Googled it and have read yays and nays.  My doctor suggested I try a series of Euflexxa.  I've had many cortisone shots, but my doctor said cortisone actually makes the cartilage weaker (and I have thinning cartilage), so he doesn't want to do anymore of those, which I hate because they are like a miracle cure! (at least for a few weeks to a couple of months).  Thank ...

Knee ProblemsDec 11, 2012
First let me start by saying that I have had two arthroscopies on my right knee and one on my left for basically worn out cartilage and some "fraying" around the edges of the knee cartilage, but never an outright tear (according to MRI studies all three times).  My knee problems have always started out first with pain, achy-type feeling, stiffness, and a tight band-like feeling around my knee, sometimes hurting on the outer back of my knee (I know I have a Baker's cyst in both knees, b ...

Knee ArthroscopyFeb 12, 2013
I had a knee arthroscopy February 1. I've had arthroscopic surgery before, but these incisions look different this time. There are two incisions about mid-knee, right and left sides of knee, that look like typical sutures tied with a knot, but below these two are smaller incisions with what appears to be a strand of suture running lengthwise across the incisions. Has anyone ever seen or heard about an arthroscopic surgery with sutures like this? I'm a big chicken with a very low pain ...

Knee PainJun 20, 2013
Have been told by orthopod that I have bone-on-bone in my right knee.  He suggested surgery and gave me Tramadol for the pain.  Surgery is not an option financially at this time.  I have been losing weight in order to take some of  the pressure off.  I cannot take the Tramadol and work because it makes me sleepy.    Cannot take NSAIDs because of the GI side effects. Any suggestions on how to deal? TIA ...

Please Pray For My KneeNov 30, 2016
Two years ago, I tore my medial meniscus and was thankfully able to heal in a few months by using crutches and participating in physical therapy.  On Thanksgiving, I hurt my knee again.  There was no precipitating factor other than just walking inside the house.  What is concerning is that I am now having pain even when not putting any pressure on my leg.  Please pray that this heals.  My insurance does not pay for specialists (like an orthopedist) or any imaging studies ...

Knee Swollen, Tight, PainfulOct 18, 2009
Have been having trouble with my knee since about spring of this year.  I had a knee scope ten years ago for some torn cartilage, and the knee did great for the ten years following, but flared up this past spring.  It gets a very tight and full feeling with a big bulge in the back of the knee, and I keep telling the doctor I believe it is a Baker's cyst, but he doesn't suggest anything for it.  He did tell me that is where the fluid goes because it has no place else to g ...

Injured Knee And No Money For DoctorOct 27, 2014
I got out of bed Saturday, and when I stepped down, there was sharp pain to my medial knee.  I cannot walk on it.  Thankfully, there is next to no pain when there is no pressure on it and it is not fully flexed or fully extended.  Medial meniscal tear and/or MCL tear?  I have leftover NSAIDs from a neck problem years ago and some old tramadol, which are helping.  On his way to borrow a walker from a friend, my husband passed a yard sale and noticed a pair of crutches. &n ...

The video in this touches on a few other points.  Perhaps listen with an open mind and maybe you will see how this "fine tuned" machine is running. ...
