Meniscal tear/knee brace

Posted: May 18, 2011

Has anyone tried working with a knee brace on?  I am not having much success and cannot afford not to work.  I went to the ER last night and was told I need an MRI and probable surgery, but I don't have insurance.  The ortho doc wants $150 for first appointment.  Very frustrated!!

No, I haven't; it sounds uncomfortable.

Would you be able to use the pedal with your other foot?

Banks Brace For Political Firestorm As Big Bonuses Come DueJan 12, 2010
By Agence France-PresseMonday, January 11th, 2010 -- 11:06 pm Major US banks are gearing up to announce annual bonuses for top executives while bracing for a political firestorm over compensation practices that critics say fueled the global financial crisis. A number of multimillion-dollar bonus payments are likely, even though most of the payouts are likely to be in the form of stock, with restrictions aimed at discouraging excessive risk-taking at many banks. Blocked Tear DuctNov 18, 2010

What's Your Favorite Tear-jerkerSep 04, 2012

We Need Governors Who Bring Our Country Together, Not Tear Us ApartMar 10, 2011
Our country used to be bigger and better than this. I remember thinking back in about 2000 when I was at a big event that things had a different atmosphere, more hatred where we used to be able to disagree and still be friends. It was better recently, until these things happened this week. I'm discouraged and sad. I hope we can do better. I have people I love in both parties as well as Independents. We act like we're out there in the streets of _____(fill in the blank). I don't li ...

Ronald Reagan Wanted To Tear Down A WallNov 11, 2016
For me that says it all.  Trump is a petty little man not worthy to be called a Republican. For people who say the Republican party ignored them or let them down, you let it happen. What I hated most about this political season was that it demonstrated the real coarsening of America--and nowhere was that more front and center than the vulgar arrogance of Donald Trump. ...

Knee InjectionsOct 21, 2009
Have you ever had Synvisc, Euflexxa, Hyalgan, or Supartz injections?  Did they help?  I've Googled it and have read yays and nays.  My doctor suggested I try a series of Euflexxa.  I've had many cortisone shots, but my doctor said cortisone actually makes the cartilage weaker (and I have thinning cartilage), so he doesn't want to do anymore of those, which I hate because they are like a miracle cure! (at least for a few weeks to a couple of months).  Thank ...

Knee ProblemsDec 11, 2012
First let me start by saying that I have had two arthroscopies on my right knee and one on my left for basically worn out cartilage and some "fraying" around the edges of the knee cartilage, but never an outright tear (according to MRI studies all three times).  My knee problems have always started out first with pain, achy-type feeling, stiffness, and a tight band-like feeling around my knee, sometimes hurting on the outer back of my knee (I know I have a Baker's cyst in both knees, b ...

Knee ArthroscopyFeb 12, 2013
I had a knee arthroscopy February 1. I've had arthroscopic surgery before, but these incisions look different this time. There are two incisions about mid-knee, right and left sides of knee, that look like typical sutures tied with a knot, but below these two are smaller incisions with what appears to be a strand of suture running lengthwise across the incisions. Has anyone ever seen or heard about an arthroscopic surgery with sutures like this? I'm a big chicken with a very low pain ...

Knee PainJun 20, 2013
Have been told by orthopod that I have bone-on-bone in my right knee.  He suggested surgery and gave me Tramadol for the pain.  Surgery is not an option financially at this time.  I have been losing weight in order to take some of  the pressure off.  I cannot take the Tramadol and work because it makes me sleepy.    Cannot take NSAIDs because of the GI side effects. Any suggestions on how to deal? TIA ...

Please Pray For My KneeNov 30, 2016
Two years ago, I tore my medial meniscus and was thankfully able to heal in a few months by using crutches and participating in physical therapy.  On Thanksgiving, I hurt my knee again.  There was no precipitating factor other than just walking inside the house.  What is concerning is that I am now having pain even when not putting any pressure on my leg.  Please pray that this heals.  My insurance does not pay for specialists (like an orthopedist) or any imaging studies ...

Total Knee ReplacementJan 10, 2013
I had a total knee replacement thinking I would be better by now and I think I made matters worse.  I never sleep through the night.  I take 2 percocets before going to bed and it relieves my pain, but I am more than 3 weeks out from surgery.  It was supposed to be much better at this point.  I have plenty of work, but I cannot seem to focus on my work in the daytime.  Any suggestions? ...

Knee Swollen, Tight, PainfulOct 18, 2009
Have been having trouble with my knee since about spring of this year.  I had a knee scope ten years ago for some torn cartilage, and the knee did great for the ten years following, but flared up this past spring.  It gets a very tight and full feeling with a big bulge in the back of the knee, and I keep telling the doctor I believe it is a Baker's cyst, but he doesn't suggest anything for it.  He did tell me that is where the fluid goes because it has no place else to g ...

up from a sitting position especially.  I have to stand there a minute to get moving.  Stairs are even hard.  What can I do to keep them bendable?  Is it better to keep bending and exercising them or trying not to?  I hate getting old.  I just hate it.  I'm feeling sorry for myself today. ...

Injured Knee And No Money For DoctorOct 27, 2014
I got out of bed Saturday, and when I stepped down, there was sharp pain to my medial knee.  I cannot walk on it.  Thankfully, there is next to no pain when there is no pressure on it and it is not fully flexed or fully extended.  Medial meniscal tear and/or MCL tear?  I have leftover NSAIDs from a neck problem years ago and some old tramadol, which are helping.  On his way to borrow a walker from a friend, my husband passed a yard sale and noticed a pair of crutches. &n ...

Sports/overuse Knee Injuries?Oct 28, 2014
Hi, I've recently had a knee injury - something I've never had before, so I'm unfamiliar with what to expect.  Have any of you ever had a knee injury such as a sprain or ligament tear, and if so, what were your symptoms and how long did it take to heal?  Did it ever feel normal again? I'm in my 60's, and am still an avid rollerblader.  My knee problems started about 2 months ago, when I was getting a little tired near the end of a 12-mile group skate I w ...

June 12, 1987. "Mr. Gorbachev, Tear Down This Wall!" Jun 12, 2017
Berlin Wall. Begun after Lenin's Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, the Soviet Union existed from 1922 to 1991. With its motto "Workers of the World, Unite!" the Soviet tactic was to train agitators, community organizers, labor organizers, and agent provocateurs-provoking agents. These would organize people with grievances and stir up riots to subvert and "tear down" the existing government. When social chaos caused major domestic disruptions, the public would then willingly accept a new o ...
