I had a knee arthroscopy February 1. I've had arthroscopic surgery before, but these incisions look different this time. There are two incisions about mid-knee, right and left sides of knee, that look like typical sutures tied with a knot, but below these two are smaller incisions with what appears to be a strand of suture running lengthwise across the incisions. Has anyone ever seen or heard about an arthroscopic surgery with sutures like this?
I'm a big chicken with a very low pain tolerance. I've been known to remove my own sutures (because the doctor or nurse pull and tug -- they can't feel the discomfort!), and I want to remove these myself, but am afraid to do so, given the different suture appearance. Do you think the lower horizontal stitches are connected to the upper ones with knots? If so, should I just wait and let the doctor's office remove them?
If anyone knows anything about this, I would really appreciate some advice. Thanks so much.
