Shooter's Fort Bragg connections

Posted: Aug 6, 2012

as are those to white supremacy, major right-wing blogs, plus the 911 tatoo.  Hate speech seems to be an inextricable part of the mix here.  He was stationed at Fort Bragg during the same years when another shooter, convict William Kreucher, shot an officer and wounded 17 others back in 1995.  A more recent shoot-up at Fort Bragg June 28 resulted in the death of the shooter, who turned the gun on himself after killing 1 and injuring a couple of others.  The common thread between these 3 guys, other than ties to Fort Bragg, does not appear to be motive, but rather the gun.  Bang-bang/shoot-shoot.

I think this article helps - shed light on motivation

After a relatively uneventful upbringing described by Colorado family members as “full of love and joy,” the shooter set out on an “Easy Rider” journey in search of independence, a fresh start and to “become involved.” He listed his home base address as Littleton, Colorado during his 20s and 30s, where he moved shortly after the 1999 Columbine shooting, that sparked protracted heated local community debates over gun control laws, gun and goth cultures, violent video games and teen depression.

His road trips took him to destinations around the country, including the 2000 Neo-Nazi Hammerfest music festival in Bremen, Georgia, hosted by Hammerskin Nation, a white supremacist group out of Dallas, comprised of folks who think of themselves as Aryan, Viking and Nazi warriors, wrapped in white pride and BFF to the National Knights of the KKK. Their mentors are fictional goose-stepping NeoNazis, marching in lockstep, the evils of whom Pink Floyd rhapsodized in the 1982 movie release of The Wall. I’m gonna take a wild guess that his California visit may have taken him to Oxnard, Aryan Brotherhood biker headquarters, a street gang and organized crime syndicate of large widespread free world and incarcerated chapters.

He founded a band called End Apathy while forging his identity via the hate-music genre. While in North Carolina, in a 2010 interview with a music promoter, he made a reference to “our sick society” and described his music as dealing with "sociological issues, religion, and the degradation of human life by submission to tyranny and hypocrisy." That language exactly echoes well-known arguable right-wing interpretations of 2nd Amendments rights that unfettered access to guns is not restricted to well-organized state militias, but rather extends to each and every individual citizen and authorizes them to rise up against “tyranny.”…thus lending to his statements the aura of well-rehearsed propaganda.

In the aftermath of the shooting, hate-music producers (and winger gun huggers) are scrambling to dissociate themselves with End Apathy. Label execs have taken to some serious damage control, projecting themselves as “just-say-no” drug warriors who encourage positive lifestyle changes (!) and who shun “shock-jock” mentalities…a band of angels spreading the hate gospel, who wouldn’t THINK of profiting off of the carnage and death laid to waste by their former protégé’s turban target practice at the Sikh Temple.

No thanks to the progs' - unintended consequences

“It is said the path to hell is paved with good intentions.”

White Supremacy just one of the many unintended consequences of Progressive “achievements.”

Now the shooter can burn for eternity with his white supremacist brethren, Charles Aycock, Robert Byrd, and Pitchfork Tillman.

...and it does not shine upon any one party more than another. Intolerance is not a partisan issue, but rather an ignorance issue. All the men you mention were beset by controvery for their views - and for good reason.

Perhaps intolerance is best summarized by Robert Byrd himself, who explained he was a KKK member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision—a jejune and immature outlook—seeing only what I wanted to see...."

blame progressives for modern-day rabid winger racism, evidence of which abounds across the Internet and broadcast airways, are you?

Charles Aycock, who grew up during the Civil War, distinguished himself as the governor of NC who promoted the public school system and died in 1912…a hundred years ago? His involvement in white supremacy is a huge stain on his record, but not one I find terribly pertinent to 21st century right-wing hate politics. The same could be said for Benjamin Tillman, another son of the Civil War who served in the confederate military and died in 1918. After the war, he nurtured a paramilitary persona and was governor of a Confederate state during ante-bellum reconstruction.

Robert Byrd renounced his KKK ties in 1952, which he characterized as a misguided youthful dalliance (during his 20s) centered on anti-communist ideology. Evidently, his views have changed. He advises youth aspiring to public office to “avoid the KKK," calling it an “albatross,” and a mistake. In his autobiography, Byrd says he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision—a jejune and immature outlook—seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions." In 2005, Byrd said, "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologize a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened.

What, pray tell, does any of this have to do with modern-day hate speech plastered from here to kingdom come all over winger media outlets and their promotion of pure race ideals and affinity for armed opposition to “tyranny?”

Would you care to explain what you mean by that? - mbmt

Why do you think white supremacy is an unintended consequence of progressive achievements?

North Fort Myers, FL ?s...SMApr 05, 2014
I'm thinking of relocating from New England in the next 1-2 years.  My father and stepmother lived at Del Turra for over 20 years, and I visited every year and really liked the place.  My father predeceased my stepmother, and she left the house to her niece, so I was out of luck there.  Anyway, does anyone in the area know of over- 55 manufactured home developments they could recommend?  I'd even consider a condo if the price was right.  I don't want ...

Judge Rules Fort Hood Jihadist Aug 22, 2012
I have to admit, the judge's reasoning makes sense: "Forced shaving is not a novel concept in the military,’’ military attorneys said in the judge’s response filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. ‘‘Army regulations expressly authorize nonconsensual haircutting and face-shaving for recalcitrant incarcerated soldiers. … If the judge has authority to bind and gag a disruptive accused (soldier), then certainly he has authority to forcibly shave (Hasan).’’ ...

Fort Hood Heroes Finally Get RecognitionApr 10, 2015
Much to the dismay of the Muslim in the WH, the Fort Hood terrorist attack committed by a Muslim is finally acknowledged for what it was: A terrorist act, NOT workplace violence. That, to me, is one of the most despicable acts I've seen in this WH. ...
