Does anyone feel this way about candidates and our elections, US, state or local?

Posted: Sep 23, 2014

Gosh, I cannot understand why they have to spend so much money on elections. The thing is that if these candidates just stated their opinions and were honest with all of us, they'd get elected and re-elected. To me, this is a sick game politics and the whole issue of the problems in our country are not being addressed rationally and with any common sense.

I think they need to educate kids on common sense in schools or otherwise we are going to have a bunch of really dumb kids who will repeat and repeat actions that will not get them or anyone else anywhere at all.

Anyway, I really dread to vote this year in mid terms or presidential in 2016. Honestly, if some of these people run again or for the first time then we get the lesser of two evils to vote for just like the last few elections. I hate that.

Boy, I wish we had candidates who were interested in serving people and not just furthering their careers. I am just sick of them putting their careers before the good of the whole country. Honestly, we need to go back and see what electing some of these politicians has ended up in doing to all of us and our country.

I am sick of lies and coverups and I am most sick of the news  now being not news, but constant commentaries or opinions on some issue or happening. I would like to just hear news, not constant re-runs night after night of the same happening or issue. It is good to talk things over, but enough is enough.

God, grant me a candidate I can get behind. I may not have that many elections to participate in and would like to have voted for one who actually got in and was a good representative of the people.

I would like to have all the loop holes closed when it comes to funding elections. Why not just on your income tax decide how much to donate (like a box) and put the various parties in and then let them have what they have to work with. I am sick of elections being bought and illegal stuff done to get someone elected. This is not what our country stands for.

If you notice, now the example set by these politicians and elected folks are getting used by business, sports, etc. Seems to be if you use something and it gets you what you want, that's okay.

No, I am not naive, but would like a choice for a change and a good one. Just think it would be nice to have a real choice.

Of all the people who may run for pres....there is not a one of them I want as president. This includes both parties! I'm so sick to death of any Clinton or any Bush!!! So definitely no to Jeb AND Hillary!!! There is only one person I would vote for in a heart beat and I'm not even sure if he is running or not.

Please excuse my typo..I meant us...not use. ;) - Trigger Happy

Not really necessary, but if I find a typo in my post I go back and edit it.

Sometimes the less than charitable love to pick through and make nasty comments if you make a typo, so then if you fix it it leaves everyone else wondering what the heck they are talking about, the best revenge.

Red State, Blue State, No Healthcare For You State.Feb 28, 2014
If you live in a red state and are unable to afford health insurance or find the costs to be outrageous, you have no one to blame but your elected officials.  It is a shame, but you can change it by voting the bums out in the next election. I am fortunate enough to live in a very blue state and have reaped the benefits of affordable healthcare. ...

I haven't been around for a while.  Just popped in today 'cuz I thought there might be some interesting discussion about yesterday's elections.  I am surprised there isn't.  All I can say is goodbye and good riddance to Specter and Lincoln! Hello Rand Paul.  (You need not read anything into that statement; I simply think some new blood is a good thing.)  What do you all think of yesterday's election results?  Looks like there will be a lot o ...

In Regards To The Upcoming Presidential ElectionsJul 23, 2012
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1). For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group. (Titus 1:10). and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. (2 Peter 2:3). Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a ...

Debates Obviously Do Not Decide Elections.Oct 12, 2012
I have not been happy with O's performance the last 4 years.  However, I am not sure he is totally to blame for the state of our economy, debt, and job situation.  The R fully admit that what was dumped in his lap was tremendous.  Much of the debt technically does not even belong to O.  The rest, I believe he had no choice, as we were actually looking at a depression.  As Clinton stated, NO president, R or D, could fix these problems in 4 years. Even though I just ...

from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down." --Paul Weyrich, cofounder of The Moral Majority, The Heritage Foundation, ALEC, and considered a founder of the modern conservative movement.  Note, this isn't just about voters on the left--GOP candidates benefit when voter turnout drops across the board, which is how many Republicans found themselves tossed off their v ...

Disputed Presidential Elections Are Nearly As Old AsOct 21, 2016
All of this artificial umbrage just because Trump reserves the right to take a look at the election results before saying whether they should be accepted. "Hrumph! And double-hrumph!! Is it the press who are so ignorant (and apparently forgetful of very recent American hist ...

Nov 2011 Elections Banner Results For Progressives InNov 09, 2011
Not too shabby.  MI - Over-reaching personhood measure rejected 58% to 42%.  A similar agenda was rejected in Colorado in 2008 and again in 2010.  OH - Senate Bill 5 referendum soundly reversed Kasich's anti-union efforts 63% to 37%.  Impressive numbers. KY - Steve Beshear scored a 60%-30%-%10 margin over GOP and independent opponents.  Dems also won in Secretary of State, Treasurer and Auditor races.  Evidently, Palin's endorsement of the GOP contender ...

Democrats Plan To Win Elections With Illegal Alien VotesMar 03, 2015
The Obama Democrats have an audacious scheme for winning future elections. They just plan to import 5 million non-citizens and credential them as voters who will, in gratitude, vote Democratic. The way this devious formula works is stunningly simple. Just get the new Republican Congress (under Speaker John Boehner and Sen. Mitch McConnell) to pass a full-funding bill for Homeland Security without any exception for the funding of Obama's illegal executive amnesty, which will allow Obama to ...

My Run Down Of The GOP CandidatesAug 20, 2011
After doing much research, I'm leaning towards Santorum.  Perry and Romney are nothing but democrats in disguise. As much as I like Bachmann, I just don't think a conservative woman has a chance. As much as I like Herman Cain, his lack of experience scares me. I'm on the fence about Ron Paul.  I like the way he stands on a lot of issues, but he stills come across to me as a little nutty and I don't know if he just doesn't present himself well or what. Any ...

Which Candidates Do You Like?Mar 01, 2014
It seems most threads begin with something or someone people don't like - I'm more interested in what/who you do like? :) I don't know of anyone on the horizon that would fit the bill, but I'd like to see someone who isn't a party puppet - someone that isn't afraid to step outside of party lines to put the country first, rather than party politics - but they'd lose financial support if they did. And let's not forget all those lobbyists' money they ...

Conservative Leader Weyrich: "I Don't Want Everybody To Vote...our Leverage In ElectionsNov 06, 2012
Shortly before the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980, Paul Weyrich — a principal architect of today's Republican Party — scolded evangelicals who believed in democracy. "Many of our Christians have what I call the 'goo goo' syndrome — good government," said Weyrich, who co-founded Moral Majority with Jerry Falwell. ( "I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of the people. They never have been from the beginning of our countr ...

Elections Bring In Trailblazing Lawmakers With Potential To Reach New HeightsNov 09, 2014
Just one excerpt from this article: FOX NEWS: Utah Republican Mia Love is atop most lists, even if her arrival to Washington took longer than expected. Love’s House race victory makes her the first black female Republican in Congress. “This is historic but it’s not because of the color of my skin,” Love told Fox News on Wednesday. “It’s historic because Utah has decided to elect a person based on their principles.” ...

State-by-state Map Of Climate ChangeJun 13, 2012
The below link is to an article that has a map showing the temperature changes by state since 1970. This is not necessarily a political issue in itself, but our response to it is. I live in one of the states that is showing the most change. Due to my way of life, I have been very conscious of the weather changes in my lifetime. I first started noticing thunderstorms in January. We should only be having blizzards in January--it was kinda fun. Then we started having tornadoes in September an ...

Rich CandidatesFeb 02, 2012
I'm wondering why the talk is suddenly anti-Romney because he's rich?  If my info is correct, John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry had a net worth of about $750 million when he ran for president (along with 5 or 6 very luxurious homes) but it didn't make him look like a bad guy - just a rich guy.   In other words, at what point did it become a bad thing to be a rich presidental candidate?  Personally, I don't care how much money the candidate has.  I' ...

The Two Candidates And Their Agendas. Oct 30, 2012
The No Agenda Myth There are plenty of legitimate reasons voters (and the media) should be disenchanted by the  campaigns, but the idea that we’ll be voting in the dark is not one of them. Yes, the candidates have been reluctant to publish some unpleasant details of their policies. Most presidential candidates in modern times don’t, for the understandable reason that details can be cherry-picked for attack ads. Yes, identifying Romney’s plan requires some gue ...

Candidates' Deficit Plans Don't Add UpOct 01, 2012
As the government closes the books Sunday with a $1.1 trillion deficit for the year, which required borrowing 32 cents for every dollar it spent, budget analysts have little confidence in either presidential candidate's plan to address the accumulating debt, now at about $16 trillion. The Republican nominee promises to balance the budget in eight years to 10 years, but he also offers a mix of budgetary contradictions: higher Pentagon spending, restoring cuts that Democrats made in Medicare ...

Messages To Our Presidential CandidatesFeb 14, 2016
I believe every single American medical transcriptionist should contact all candidates running for president and inform them of our plight (competing with India for our jobs) as well as the fact that the majority of the American population is probably not aware that their personal and medical information could potentially be sent to India. Some of the candidates have talked about bringing jobs back to America, but none has mentioned this issue. Let's inform them. I have provided an alpha ...

Message To BOTH Party Conventions: Nominate Other Candidates.Jul 02, 2016
A demonstrably corrupt grifter versus an adolescent amateur.  This should be our choice? I can't vote for either of them - not out of unwillingness, but because it's a classical Hobson's choice: Eenie-meenie-minie-moe, Who is worse I do not know. Republicans - pick someone who embodies Trump's positives, i.e. America First.  It's been too long, and much too long.  THE GOVERNMENT OF EACH NATION IN THE WORLD SHOULD PUT ITS OWN INTERESTS FIRST.  We e ...

It's Been Awhile Since I Posted To This Forum. With Republican Candidates Gearing UpAug 19, 2011
and throwing their hats into the ring for the upcoming elections next year, I decided to sift through the archives of this board, going back to 2008 election and up to Obama's inauguration.  It was interesting to read all the very heated posts on both sides of the party lines.  In January of 2009, the last thing I posted on the subject of Obama was: "Time will reveal King Obama's inexperience and shortcomings." It made me wonder, where are all those passionate Obama support ...
