Virginia lawmaker: Children with disabilities are God’s punishment to women who previously had abortions.

On Thursday, Virginia State Delegate Bob Marshall (R) spoke at a press conference against state funding for Planned Parenthood. He blasted the organization for supporting a women’s right to choose, saying that God punishes women who have had abortions by giving them disabled children:

“The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children,” said Marshall, a Republican.
“In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There’s a special punishment Christians would suggest.”

Marshall is also fighting against health care reform, saying that “Obamacare” is trying to take “your soul.” Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has been pushing back against high-profile figures and entities who have been attacking people with disabilities. Nothing against the OP who posted. Thank you for posting this. The article itself was as CJ put...a bunch of crapola.

However, comments like the one you posted is what is wrong in this country. This is not what you get when you vote republican. If you say that, then you certainly have to admit the other is true for Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Franks, and Obama. We could easily say... "dats what you get with your vote for dem". But you know what, each person is different. There are good and bad on both sides.

New repub gov in VA stripped gay protection for state workers out of the law as one of his first acts (had been put in by previous dem gov). You cannot blanket all republicans together just like you can't blanket all democrats together. What is so hard to understand about that? Why can't you get it? With all Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Franks, and other democrats terrible things they done in office, poor judgement calls, terrible things said in office we don't sit and say that's what you get for voting in a democrat.

Each congressman is different. What you and the other person who made that comment is bordering on is communism. The reason I say that is because it's evident you don't want anyone who is a republican in office at any time. Yet there are a lot of good republicans with good ideas. What you want is a one party system. The same that they have in China and what they had during Hitler's reign.

Judge people by their personal conduct and actions and stop grouping everyone together saying nobody should vote republican.

I can "blanket" all repubs WITH their frequent statements that this nation is a christian nation and we should use christianity to decide our laws. Which brings us right back to the crazy guy. Your narrow range of thinking does not even allow for the idea that dems want repubs to be willing to work with them and listen to other views than their own. I study my Bible daily, and there is not one piece of scripture in there that says if you've had an abortion, your future children will be born with defects. This is just his personal opinion, not God's word.
