My grandson had been complaining of abdominal pain for a few weeks on and off so my grandson made an appointment yesterday with a GI doc, well known in my town. We went to the appointment, I paid the $25.00 copay and it was the shortest doctors appointment I have ever been to. He walked in asked what the problem was and then said well lets schedule some tests to see what is going on. He scheduled both an EGD and colonoscopy on an 18 year old. Never touched my grandson, never felt his belly. didn't order x-rays, ultrasound or anything. In and out in about 2 minutes. My grandson didn't even know what these procedures were or what they were for, until I explained them to him. Doctor never even asked if he goes to the bathroom on a regular basis, if he might be constipated or anything. Just lets schedule these procedure. There is no family history of any stomach issues in his immediate family.
After we got home I was thinking about all of this and I feel as if the doctor just did not do his job, period. I am very upset with him and I want my $25.00 back. Am I wrong for feeling like this? Did he do his job or is he just looking for more money in his pocket? Isn't there some type of protocol they go through before they schedule these tests? Labs, radiology, etc., and then order these tests if something doesn't look right? Or am I just being over protective?
