Wow, what an inspiration they are! They took time out from their busy practices to rally in Washington. This is from late last year. At bottom of page is a COMMENT section containing comments (many of which are recent) from lots of other docs and nurses who couldn't make it to the rally.
Remember that many practices are SMALL BUSINESSES, so these guys will be getting a double whammy from taxes, not just from CommieCare. What does that mean to us? EVERY DOCTOR WHO RETIRES OR HAS TO CLOSE HIS PRACTICE MEANS ONE LESS CLIENT/ACCOUNT FOR US.
;I asked him what he thought about all this healthcare reform stuff.
He asked me if I had an hour, and I said, "I do, but I doubt that you do."
He then explained how he has always been very political and even gives presentations in favor of healthcare reform. He said, in 1994, he had the opportunity to intern at the White House, which was a very special opportunity for him; however, he was against the Clinton healthcare plan.
He told me that he's now in favor of HRC in its present form, but ONLY because it will establish a law that hopefully can be fixed later. His first preference is a single payer system, on moral grounds.
I always liked this doc because I got the feeling that he was in medicine in order to help people and not for the money. (In fact, he runs the residency program for a low-income clinic.) What he told me confirmed that feeling.
I know that HE won't be quitting if the HCR goes through. He'll just be working behind the scenes to fix the flaws that remain. I really "lucked out" when I got this doc and wouldn't trade him for anyone else.
The docs who are only in it for the money can all quit, as far as I'm concerned. I'll take someone whose morals are in the right place any day over greedy, uncaring physicians who are only in it for the money.
understand, you will get to KEEP the doctor you have. I doubt that Obama is twisting his/her arm to quit the practice of medicine.
