Please forgive me if this is in the wrong spot, but I need

help asap. I have a heart condition and have known for years I cannot tolerate the heat well at all. I live in a VERY hot and humid state (trying to move asap). DD graduates in 2 weeks., How do I tell her I cannot go because the heat could give me a heart attack and I could die? I do not want to scare her but I want her to know how bad I want to go, but cannot risk my life:( I have been out in the heat only once and almost ended up in the ER. I had to beg them not to take me. I told them I was going right home and laying down with an ice pack on my face, which I did, but my BP was still very high. Any help most appreciated!! I am sure I am not the only parent to miss a graduation, but I feel absolutely horrible about it:(((

the school and explained the situation. Perhaps they could find a way to accommodate you enough that you could attend, or at least attend whatever part she is participating in. May also try asking someone in your doctor's office or social work within your healthcare system. You may have individuals within your reach that may want to find a way to help, but cannot if they are unaware that you could use a little help. Hope you are able to find a way to attend. Once you have asked around, you may want to talk to your daughter. I know that I was more concerned about attending my son's graduation than he was. In the end, I don't think he really cared whether I was there or not. And when I was graduating, I know I didn't care if my parents were there, and actually remember wishing they would't attend.

You might want to google "personal battery powered air conditioner." There are a couple. I have one that's called a desk-top battery A/C that's still around. It's battery powered and you insert a plastic soda bottle of frozen water, and it has a little fan. It lasts until the ice melts, but probably long enough for your needs.
