Seeing things on TV that I am thinking what?

Posted: Jan 8, 2013

I saw 3 different things this morning that I am puzzled. First, people having baby ultrasounds in their homes inviting all the family for an ultrasound party to let them be the first (along with the couple) to view the baby. People doing the ultrasounds do tell the gender of the baby and that again is not 100% sure each time, even for people who routinely do ultrasound in medical settings. The people doing not medical, say no diagnosis of any kind made but as we all know not every pregnancy is a good one. What if there is a blighted pregnancy and empty sac? With pregnancy becoming more of a show you what I look like, I think the next big thing will be an invite to the conception party. Next I saw Brooke Burke (Dancing with the Stars) cohost and she was talking about her thyroid cancer diagnosis and how she handled it. She informed not only her husband but 4 children and 1 child was 4 years old. He then asked if his father was going to get it also. Possibly the children felt she was going to die. I am not for telling kids every single phase of your adult life. Children sure grow up extremely fast, why have them grow up and face cancer say at the age of 4? And finally. Paula Deen. She is now telling us how to eat to lose weight. I am glad she has lost weight but I do not like fibbers and she said "it is all about proportions. I have always preached moderation for years." Sorry folks but I remember throw on all that butter for taste theme that was preached on the show and now? For some reason she would not be the first person I would go to (or believe) to have weight control. Now off my soap box. ;

A conception party sounds like - a great weekend.

on TV choose to do? Just because they do it doesn't mean you have to do it. Just as they get no say in how you live your life, you can't control how they live theirs.

If you don't like the choices they make, don't watch their shows.

In any event, it sounds like you watch too much trashy TV. If you must watch, choose nature or science documentaries. You might learn something.

Lighten up....Jeeze! I think the poster... - whatever

was just stating how she felt about all of the t.v. stuff. You are picking her post apart which is so like other "mean girls" who lay in wait for posters to come on here, state how they feel about something and then you try to belittle them. You might try to understand instead of throwing rocks at people. Try it once, it feels good.

and needing a hobby. I saw all of this on 1 show this morning which was Good Morning America- not several shows. Oh, this was because I do not have to go to work until 12- I only work part time and as far as the hobby, you should see what I did with all my plants yesterday, 1 of my off days as I only work 3 days a week. I bought clay pots, painted them metallic golds, greens and blues and repotted all the plants. See I do have hobbies and by the way, my favorite shows are animals and documentaries. I have learned quite a big by the way but I am so glad to have people around like you to inform me of such!!

partially joining you on your soapbox - sort of

I'm not a fan of the party and events for every milestone in life - is it a way to get giftst or something from people? I'm fairly antisocial, though, so that may be part of it.

I sort of agree with being honest with the kids in an age appropriate manner. That's a tough call to make, though.

Ah, Paula Deen. I've never been that huge a fan of her, but after the news broke about her diabetes I lost ALL respect for her. Not because she throws butter on everything. I cook heavily with butter myself and butter is NOT what contributes to diabetes. I won't get started on my rant about processed carbohydrates in society's diet today and spare you all.

I lost respect for her because she ate badly for years, developed diabetes, kept it very quiet for 2 years, and now she shills for a diabetic drug manufacturer. That, to me, is just abhorent and I will never use one of her recipes again, no matter how good they may or may not be.

I quit MT for final time after 28 years.  Paid production and told basically to lie on my timecard and not paid for things like fixing QA reports, answering emails, etc. and getting QA'd to death on commas had taken its toll (oh and the illegal slave wages factored as a result of that).  I hadn't cleaned up my office area yet...had that stupid BOS 3 book on the floor and Stedmaniac's Cardiovascular Word Book still on the floor.....well, I went into my office today and my ...

I Am Thinking, Just How Much More The GOPMar 16, 2016
The latest Trump ad is to show Clinton as a barking dog? I am totally surprised by the fact that he acts like a buffoon and curses, shows total disrespect for women, thumbs his nose at the GOP and threatens about what would happen if for some reason he was elected by the delegates, has no clear cut answers to any worldly issues going on and people vote for this? I really and truly believe the ones who are voting for him are the most uneducated, mostly white older people who fall for the firs ...

that the liberals on this board (all 3 of us) should declare a moratorium and not post for a year, come back and see if Mexico has paid for the wall, how many jobs have come back or started coming back, whether ISIS is weaker or stronger, if we are engaged in another war somewhere, whether the rich have gotten richer, whether the poor and middle class are any better off.  After all, it is impossible to argue with those who take Fox News and Breitbart as gospel and write off all the MSM. &nb ...

Here's a great thing to do with cinammon when you need a little pampering:  Put a handful in your tub!  It makes your skin super soft; it's really lovely and relaxing!  You can get cinammon really inexpensively if you can buy it in bulk somewhere. ...

WHAT ARE PEOPLE THINKING??Mar 28, 2011
I went to lunch today for a change in scenery.  I had a cold bay shrimp salad with a butter herb vinegrette dressing and a passion fruit tea.  It was nice on the patio today, warm with a slight breeze and I was happily munching away when all of the sudden I started to CHOKE!  I mean for real, gagging, retching choking!  As if that wasn't bad (and embarrassing) enough, NO ONE WOULD HELP ME!  It seemed as if a whole 2 minutes went by until I ran from the patio into t ...

by another employee of my company.  She has suffered many hardships since working for this company.  She has lost her home, her car, and recently had to visit a food pantry just to get something to eat.  She didn't specify in her post, but I'm certain she has tried to find something else for quite a while now, for I think we all know that jobs aren't nearly as easy to come by as they used to be.  I have been thinking a lot about her lately and will be praying f ...

Justice? I Am Thinking NotApr 29, 2013
Sitting here on the pity pot.  Just found out that the neighbor that burned our apartment building to the ground bought a house and recently a $30,000 hour.  This occurred AFTER the insurance company said he had no income to go after.  Here I sit still struggling and he is living life to the fullest.  I am still struggling to pay for the necessities.  Makes me boiling mad.  He has never apologized at any time for the chaos/damage he caused.  Don't believe ...

I'm Thinking Thyroid?Oct 08, 2015
Okay, for the last month or so I've come to realize my hair is exceedingly dry.  I normally have to wash my hair every other day because it is oily, and even though this is great that I don't have to wash it so often, it is a real change from what I am used to do.  So far I've let it go 4 days, but by the looks of my hair, I could go longer.  It doesn't seem oily at all.  Also, at night I'm a furnace (this has been going on for a while though).  ...

Just Thinking About Something Related To Politics And MTMar 15, 2011
Wouldn't it be great if we had an MT union (not going to happen; too late for that) and we see headlines that say, "We are troubled because union MTs make 12% MORE than non-union MTs."   Just a thought. I think that might be a very good thing. ...

I Do Not Understand The Democratic Way Of ThinkingOct 09, 2012
I have had numerous "debates" with some of my friends and family on the democratic way of thinking. They say republicans help the "rich get richer" and republicans are "greedy," etc. What I don't understand is how democrats cannot understand the simple concept that the rich will STAY rich no matter how many taxes they have to pay in. The "rich" are the ones who create the jobs. The oil companies (I will admit their profits are excessive), but they provide MANY jobs, corporate companies ...

and I remembered the debate in which President Obama pointed out that Mitt Romney didn't have an actual plan outlined and that if anyone had gone to him with an idea without the plan outlined, that person would have been crazy to invest in it...kinda thing.  I find that funny actually.  Didn't we do that with Obamacare?  Pelosi said we had to pass it to find out what was in it.  As far as having a plan, what happened to Obama's plan when he ran in 2008.  ...

AARP. I Am Thinking About Joining AndSep 14, 2015
I went to the movie Saturday. You almost have to rob a bank to go now. The popcorn for the medium size was $7.00. Ticket prices before 5 o'clock were $8.00 per person regardless of age. This got me to thinking about AARP. I do not think the prices would be any different for the movies but for other things. If anyone has AARP could you tell me a little about the savings you have found. TIA ...

Republicans Have Some Deep ThinkingJul 21, 2017
Most of us know that this whole administration is filled with cons and shady characters.  How long will the republicans stay "loyal" to him?  He's threatening Mueller who is head of the investigation against members of his administration and him.  Republicans better wake up if they want to save themselves. Married And Lonely... Thinking Of Doing The UnthinkableMay 06, 2011
Oh, I so know I'm going to get flamed for this, but I need to say it anyway.  I've been married over 25 years.  Husband and I get along okay most of the time, but sex life has never ever been of the very frequent type.  I'm sure he thinks it's all me, and maybe it is much of the time.  I think part of that is because, you know, if you don't have time for me all day and all evening or any other time, I don't feel all that warmed up to you just bec ...

Something I Was Seriously Thinking About Today While Watching CSpan 1,2,3Sep 21, 2012
If Congress wants to pass bills/laws, WHY DO THEY WASTE HALF THE DAY IN GENERAL SPEECHES? Senate Democrats are complaining about bills in the House that have not been voted on and the House is complaining about the Senate sitting on bills passed by them.  As of today, there are now 40 jobs bills sitting in the Senate not voted on and today is the last day in session until after the election.  I think the House has already left to go home. Harry Reid is blocking votes as they are rehas ...

Thinking About Crime, The Economy And Social UnrestNov 17, 2015
So I was thinking, if I was a criminal, what sort of crime would I do.  I could only think of economic reasons.  There was not one crime for money that I thought would be worth doing and going to jail over.  Selling drugs, burglary, banks, jewelry stores, kidnapping, fraud and swindling.  Nothing would be as good as a good paying job.   If everyone had a job that provided the basics of life, we could do away with at least 50% of the crime and a lot of problems would fix ...

Smart People Knew This Would Happen But Others Weren't Thinking Apr 12, 2013
It's so funny all the protests going on about border security. Illegal immigrants think the borders should be open to all (which would include terrorists). They protested against Marco Rubio yet when asked, didn't know who he was or what he represented in immigration reform. He is a Republican, that's all they knew and were told by SEIU and AFL-CIO. If they want to be citizens of this country, they have to learn about the government and pass tests regarding how our country works. ...
