Looking for a new brand of women's underwear.

Posted: Dec 23, 2016

I used to wear Vanity Fair hi-cut cotton undies until they wanted to save money and started making an inferior product. I wore them for years and years. I like cotton undies and can't find any where the legs don't stretch out. I've been wearing Jockey, but they end up like bloomers after 3 or 4 washes. I've also tried Hanes and Just My Size and whatever other brands Walmart sells. I don't like any of them. Any suggestions? I'm looking for cotton hi-cut or briefs with good elastic around the legs. I used to buy the VF ones at Kohl's, but I wouldn't mind going to a more expensive department store if I can find what works. Thanks much. Merry Christmas.;

Try Bali's Barely There...SM - Old Anon

Kohl's has them, Sears has them. I have hi-cut Barely There panties that I've had for over 5 years and they are in perfect shape, leg elastic's good and waist elastic's good. I wash in cold water and dry on low heat/delicate cycle. They are a little pricey, but heck they last a long, long time.

I have these also, same kind as you! Love them. They are pricier up front, but well worth the price because they are still in excellent condition many years later. I don’t use bleach, but periodically Tide with bleach. They still look great, great waistband, and they’re comfortable. By far better than any other brand.

I know they're great but...SM - Old Anon

Bali took over the Barely There brand, and I can't seem to find the cotton ones anymore, just the microfiber, which I also like. I like the cotton ones for the summer. I wait for the lingerie sales at Kohl's and stock up.

I second Barely There! They're really good and they never wear out. Skamps are fantastic, too. They are very comfortable and I have had Skamps last for 2 years. It makes the price more economical than buying cheap ones. I get mine on Amazon when the price drops or when Kohl's has a sale.

I have seen underwear from Walmart fall apart in a few washes, as well. They also pill horribly, have thin spots, and fade. Their products may have name brands on them, but they are sometimes not the same quality that you would get with the same brand at a better store like Kohl's.

I also wonder how you are washing your undies. I rinse out mine in the sink with shampoo or other mild detergent . . . never regular laundry detergent and never bleach. If you want them (and brassieres) to stay new looking, the trick is to buy them in black.

FYI: If you had recently started using bleach more (or more of it per washing), that could be the problem. Bleach disintegrates elastic. I started not using bleach at every wash, and it helped. Maybe once every 6 weeks, I'll do a bleach wash with the "whites."

Not sure you changed your bleaching habits to more bleachings or bleach per load, but if you have, that could be part of the problem.

Bleach is bad for any type of rubberized/elastic/Latex, including what may be just in the fabric for stretch, not necessarily just the bands.

I started using oxyclean type bleach substitute for my "special" whites and it really IS wonderful. So far, no holes in hubby's white socks either.

Name Brand *OR* Store Brand?Jun 14, 2010
I'm making out my very long list for Grocery Shopping and started thinking about various products for which I simply must have the Name Brand.  I always buy French's Mustard, Heinz Ketchup, Hellman's Mayo and Vlassic Sweet Relish. I buy Ajax Dish Soap and Bounty Paper Towels.  I'd never purchase Store Brand Dish or Dishwasher Soap.  However, I'll buy Store Brand Toilet Paper and Paper Plates. Older Women Versus Younger Women And Trump/ClintonOct 10, 2016
Women who "like" Trump are invariably older and don't like Hilary Clinton because they were raised in an era of economic competition with each for men. In the old days, men generally took care of their women, and some women lucked out with good men and some stuck it out with bad ones. Young women can take care of themselves economically so aren't as threatened by other women so they're more apt to go for HIllary. Older women also don't like Clinton because she stuck with her ...

Stop Telling Us We Have To Pretend Men Are Women And Women Are MenAug 05, 2017
I have a lot of compassion for anyone who struggles with the biological gender with which they're born.  I can't imagine how confusing or painful that is.  However, I will NOT say you are a man when you're a woman or vice versa.  This asinine legislation about the bathrooms does not make sense.   Whatever your feeling is about this issue, ask yourself what is true.  Because the truth may be distasteful to someone does not make it untrue.  If you stru ...

What Brand Of Shampoo/conditioner Do You Use?Jul 01, 2010
What brand of shampoo/conditioner/hair products do you use? Do you switch brands often or do you stick with just one all the time? I ran out of shampoo this morning and had to grab a bottle out of the cupboard that wasn't the same brand as the conditioner that I was going to use. Just wondering what brand of shampoo everyone else uses. I currently have Dove conditioner and Pantene shampoo in my shower. I switch brands all of the time. ...

Here Is What I Would Ask All Women, And Hope ThatOct 21, 2012
First, please use birth control whether it means that "you" have to "shoulder the burden" or not. Yes, it would be "reasonable", "fair", or "right" for men to share this responsibility with you, but please - LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD where a lot of men have absolutely NO control over their penises. Second, please come to the point that you truly comprehend the incalculable value of EVERY human life. Women's Menstrual CupJan 04, 2014
First time I heard about this I thought that is just gross, but I was reading this website for other articles and saw this one that explains it.  Has anyone ever used one and what are your opinions on it.  If all you have to do is buy one cup and it lasts 10 years that would be a great savings on pads/tampons. What does anyone think about this.   http://beforeitsnews.com/survival/2014/01/are-you-still-using-pads-tampons-use-the-menstrual-cup-instead-2-2504750.html ...

Stereotype That Women Have More ShoesAug 04, 2010
http://www.mainstreet.com/article/sm...s&cm_ven=msIBS We’ve all heard the stereotype that women have more shoes than they know what to do with, but a new study provides some evidence for this claim. According to Glamour, the average woman will buy 469 pairs of shoes in her lifetime. All in all, she will end up spending $25,000 on shoes. So ladies, if you’re looking to cut corners, ditching the shoe addiction might be a good first step. This number comes from a survey of 3,000 ...
