Women's menstrual cup

First time I heard about this I thought that is just gross, but I was reading this website for other articles and saw this one that explains it. Has anyone ever used one and what are your opinions on it. If all you have to do is buy one cup and it lasts 10 years that would be a great savings on pads/tampons.

What does anyone think about this.

I used one a few times about 12 or 13 years ago (I had a hysterectomy in 2001). In theory I thought it sounded great, but with actual usage found it to be a big bloody mess. It was pretty gross. Part of the problem may have been my tilted uterus (?), but it just didn't work for me like it was supposed to and inserting it was just yuk. Maybe they're better now, or maybe it was user error, but I think I tried 2 or 3 times and then just said "forget it."

In theory, it seemed like a great idea, but it was a lot more trouble than it was worth. Getting it in was no treat. Getting it out was a challenge because it would develop a vacuum and stick so that you had to collapse it, which kind of defeated the whole purpose of THE CUP. The facilities would instantly resemble an abbatoir. And then there was the question of rinsing it. And you. (Good luck getting to a sink. Especially in a public restroom.)

Give it a try, though. Your manual dexterity may be better than mine. Stock up on black undies and liners!

which came out about 30 years ago. It actually looked pretty much like the one pictured in the linked article. I was not impressed. They were tedious to insert and messy to remove and empty. I have to say that the linked article really sounds like a TV informercial, a glowing endorsement. I suppose you could give it a try to see if YOU like it but I didn't.

I can't even tolerate using a PAD that I have to actually see the blood, no way could I remove a cup, empty its contents and boil it. I have to use a tampon, pull it out without looking at it and insert new one and move on. I can't imagine that many women use this, but who knows.

I'll take my hysterectomy any day over that! - UGH factor x10 on that cup! ;p

I am so blasted ticked off that I am not in menopause and at this rate probably won't hit menopause til I'm 108 years old!!!!! (I'm 53). I'm SICK, SICK, SICK of my blasted, freakin period! I hate it! Always have. There is no use for me to have one. Never had kids and having an ectopic pregnancy and removal of 1 tube and ovary pretty much guaranteed me to never have kids. Unfortunately I HAVE THIS BLASTED PERIOD!!! AND freakin PMS, DMS and AMS (before, during and after). It sucks I can tell you that! I'm sick of buying personal products and feeling like you know what for a week, sick of working through cramps, sick of leaking, SICK SICK SICK of it. Yeah, yeah, yeah at 53 I should be used to it. Yeah, I'm used to it, it doesn't mean I don't hate it.

Okay, just had one of my PMS episodes. Thanks for letting me vent. I feel better now. LOL Okay, had to back out to post this little note. When I hit post reply my code was some numbers with the letters PMS in it ROFL.
