War on Women

Posted: Dec 8, 2014

If there's really a war on women, why doesn't the White House help us in this profession of medical transcription?

(I know there are men in this profession, but the majority is women. No offense intended.)

War on whole country - anonie

[ In Reply To ..]
I hate to burst your bubble, but I doubt Mr. O, think really cares. O honestly have never felt he cared about anyone whatever or whomever it is unless they agree with him entirely.

Seems that all we hear are hateful words and people trying to divide us, men and women, old and young, black and white, and it goes on. I feel bad for our military as well. We are going to need them in the coming years with the world situation the way it is.

I almost cry when I think of the kind of world my father was in WWII for and the world we know now and particularly our country would really upset him as well as that generation. I know it is hardly anything like what I grew up in. Too many bad changes and not enough good ones. I really think the heart of this problem is the fact that people are desperately unhappy and frightened about our country and what we stand for. Lack of jobs and strong families are what we need to help us pull out of this depression.

I hope someday we can really make good changes and get back on track before our country and its people just plain give up. Giving up to the government is not what I want to see nor do I want to do it, but I am too old for this fight.

Let's please not start war on women again. Women have come a long way. Same holds true for blacks and whites.

I just wish that all police would try something else before shooting to kill or taking down someone so harshly.

I think it comes from too many movies and TV programs about how tuff the cops are. We need to respect all of them. They protect us. What would it be like if people just ran rampant over all of us, yet we do need to tackle problems, though let's not make it against race and gender. We have so many problems that need to be addressed.

So what has that got to do with it? - Informed voter

there were two bills introduced in 2010 to stop offshoring our jobs, one in the Senate-S. 3816 (Creating American Jobs and Ending Offshoring Act) and one in The House-H.R. 5622 (Stop Outsourcing and Create American Jobs Act of 2010). Both failed. Oddly, the Republicans unanimously voted against the bills.

The same thing happened in 2012, Republicans blocked an anti-offshoring bill in the Senate. Pretty sure Boehner did not bring this up in the House.

If you are a new to the legislation process, I suggest you go to Wiki or Google.

I am sure the new Republican controlled Senate and House - sm

I am sure the new Republican controlled Senate and House will take action to end off-shoring as soon as they are sworn in in 2015.

.

I think you're the one who's "new" to the legislation process. - Read the bills, then comment.

[ In Reply To ..]
Where to start? Okay, let's just put it this way. Both of these bills had ridiculous provisions, and when you read them you'll see why no one in their right mind would have voted for them - except for lunatics like Bernie Sanders the communist.

For instance, the Senate bill included in Title II a penalty for any American employer who hired people offshore unless he could "prove" to the government that such position wouldn't take employment away from an American.

Now, you just think about that for a minute, in the context of all of our transnational companies - all of them having to "prove" something like that any time they hire someone for one of their foreign operations.

This kind of crap legislation is NEVER floated for the purpose of passage because it can never pass. It's floated as a publicity stunt and in order to fool people - like you, for instance.
I really like the idea of companies providing proof - Great idea
[ In Reply To ..]
I would start with a few transcription companies. Oh yeah, the Republicans voted this great idea down.
Uuh...yeah if you want commerce to screech to a halt. - Good thinking.
[ In Reply To ..]
This wasn't a "transcription company" bill. It would have adversely impacted thousands of companies that have legitimate overseas operations.

You know, lots of people don't know it, but "outsourcing" isn't a one-way street costing Americans their jobs. There are lots of people who are employed right here in America by foreign companies, too. As an example from just one industry, we have foreign car manufacturers that are operating American plants, employing thousands, and transforming the economies of some places in our country that were starving for jobs.

What sounds good at a level of shallow self-interest doesn't turn out so great when you drill down. Like it or not, we live in a global economy - one that benefits all of us, often in ways that most people don't imagine and never stop to think about.

The reality is that there is no practical way to "stop offshoring" without imposing some kind of draconian, 18th-century "protectionist" measures (like these bills) that would ultimately, and without the slightest doubt, come right back around and bite us in the tukkus, because what's good (or bad) for the goose is good (or bad) for the gander.

Because they are, and it's not only the migrant workers. It's also construction jobs, restaurant jobs, hotel jobs, other service jobs, etc., etc. You can thank your president for this mess.
I think I answered your question in my post, employers should. sm - Rosie

hire American citizens and legal residents before workers from other countries. It may surprise you to know that the falling education levels in the US, especially in terms technical and engineering fields, forces many companies to hire people from other countries to fill their openings.

path to citizenship, especially for the "Dreamer" children. I also think that employers should try to hire American citizens where possible. Unfortunately, advanced education has become increasingly less important in this country and other countries have surpassed us in almost every category.

Not new to legislation process - anonie

[ In Reply To ..]
Funny how you judge my post as being someone uninformed about legislative process.

Not the case. I doubt anyone would vote on something that contained no real help or changes it so that companies don't really have to do it by some loop hole.

So you go ahead and demean me. I know what I know. I have lived a long time now and have watched history you probably only learned in inaccurate history books developed by the left.

I am really sorry you put so much stock in bills that never make it to laws or that lack the teeth to make a real law.

Older Women Versus Younger Women And Trump/ClintonOct 10, 2016
Women who "like" Trump are invariably older and don't like Hilary Clinton because they were raised in an era of economic competition with each for men. In the old days, men generally took care of their women, and some women lucked out with good men and some stuck it out with bad ones. Young women can take care of themselves economically so aren't as threatened by other women so they're more apt to go for HIllary. Older women also don't like Clinton because she stuck with her ...

Women's Menstrual CupJan 04, 2014

Stereotype That Women Have More ShoesAug 04, 2010
http://www.mainstreet.com/article/sm...s&cm_ven=msIBS We’ve all heard the stereotype that women have more shoes than they know what to do with, but a new study provides some evidence for this claim. According to Glamour, the average woman will buy 469 pairs of shoes in her lifetime. All in all, she will end up spending $25,000 on shoes. So ladies, if you’re looking to cut corners, ditching the shoe addiction might be a good first step. This number comes from a survey of 3,000 ...
