We’ve all heard the stereotype that women have more shoes than they know what to do with, but a new study provides some evidence for this claim.
According to Glamour, the average woman will buy 469 pairs of shoes in her lifetime. All in all, she will end up spending $25,000 on shoes. So ladies, if you’re looking to cut corners, ditching the shoe addiction might be a good first step.
This number comes from a survey of 3,000 women conducted by GoCompare.com, a British-based group that lets you compare insurance options for businesses and households. “The survey… shows that the average woman has about 19 pairs of shoes – three pairs with heels, six pairs of flip-flops, sandals, ballet pumps or wedges, three pairs of boots and four pairs of ‘foxy-style’ shoes for nights out. They also have two pairs of work shoes and another two or so ‘random’ purchases,” the Daily Express reports.
Earlier this year, another British study came out claiming that women spend $180 a year on makeup, which adds up to be $13,000 over the course of a lifetime. Similarly, a U.K. company reported last year that the average woman spends nearly $4,000 in their lifetime on bras.
As much as these studies may highlight how women can save more by not spending, they also make me wonder how much time Britain has spent studying the spending habits of women.
