How to introduce dogs to kids?

We have had our tweenie dachshund girl forabout 10 months. She is almost 2 years old. She is dearly loved, so obedient and smart and snuggly. Lately I have been wondering about getting another dog, solely for the purpose of a playmate for her, so she can wrestle and get more exercise during the day. My dogs definitely cannot have poultry or corn, and wheat is questionable. I am trying to find dental chews/biscuits. I'm using Zuke's Z-bones right now but the problem is that one of my dogs is just biting/breaking it into chunks and swallowing the chunks, not much good for his teeth and gums!
