Annoying yapping dogs.

Posted: Feb 14, 2013

A neighbor of mine keeps having a visitor over who leaves their car parked right under my window and leaves their 2 highly annoying, ear piercing yappers in the car--these dogs are driving me INSANE, and I am beginning to realize that these dogs should NEVER have survived the evolution process!!!!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!

;

you gotta say - something

Our neighbor's dog would bark in the backyard all morning starting at 7:00. I finally called her saying, "You know we love you, but your dog is driving us crazy." She had NO idea and was extremely apologetic. From then on, she kept the dog in the house.

I will say something, but - they don't care.

They stand right by the car, talking over the yapping, and I know they can also hear it from inside the house. I would be less irritated if I thought perhaps they didn't know, but it's obvious that they do know and just don't care.

Sorry I don't have any advice for you. Try closing the window. I have been in your situation. My neighbors (welfare mom, boyfriend and 5 kids in a 1-bedroom apartment) were watching a little dog for their family, and the little kids would let the dog out of the yard. The dog would go running down the driveway in front of my window where I work and the smallest kids running and yelling after it. The dog would actually run into the street and the little ones were not able to catch it. They would yell and scream and finally the older kids would come and collect the dog and the little ones. Such a commotion and it happened 3 to 4 times a day, in the summer, so I could not just close my window. Thankfully they finally were evicted, so I now have peace and quiet. I can only sympathize with you, I know what it's like to deal with people who don't care anything about anyone else and get angry if you point it out to them. Venting here helps some, not much else to do. Hopefully it will pass soon. Good luck to you, I know what you are going through.

Don't assume - Fairminded

Until you speak with your neighbor (preferably when the visitor is *not* there) you won't know how willing she might be to fix the problem. if she is unresponsive, complain to the police.

It doesn't matter if she cares really, but you can give her a chance to fix the problem first.

Yapping dog.... working night shift - cr

[ In Reply To ..]
I lived next door to a small dog that yapped all day long, and I had a job working the night shift and had to sleep during the day, which was impossible. The neighbors were not friendly, low class, aggressive types, and I was actually afraid of them. I ended up quitting my job because I was too tired, and eventually moved. I hope I never, ever, ever have to be in that situation again. I know how how you feel.

Parent Who Is Clingy And AnnoyingJul 26, 2013
Has anyone had any experience with a clingy annoying parent?  I am 36 years old.  My dad is 64.  He and my mom divorced in 2008.  He was cheating.  Well when he has problems with his girlfriend and is not living with her it is like he goes into this very annoying stage where he wants to talk to me on the phone every day multiple times a day.  I have other things to do.  I cannot sit on the phone all the time.  Plus, he is one of those type people that you ...

One Dog Vs. Two DogsApr 05, 2013
We have had our tweenie dachshund girl forabout 10 months.  She is almost 2 years old.  She is dearly loved, so obedient and smart and snuggly.  Lately I have been wondering about getting another dog, solely for the purpose of a playmate for her, so she can wrestle and get more exercise during the day.  I work at home so a lot of her day she is in her bed beside my desk sleeping, or she looks out the window at the yard and watches for dangerous folks near our yard (haha!), gr ...

Dogs With Allergies...Feb 23, 2012
My dogs definitely cannot have poultry or corn, and wheat is questionable.  I am trying to find dental chews/biscuits.  I'm using Zuke's Z-bones right now but the problem is that one of my dogs is just biting/breaking it into chunks and swallowing the chunks, not much good for his teeth and gums!  He chews his crunchy dog food and regular treats so I was hoping maybe I could find some dental biscuits of some sort, but everything I'm finding has wheat or chicken ...

Designer DogsNov 16, 2009
I have a plain old garden variety Rat Terrier. Best known as Teddy Roosevelt's favorite, the RCA dog, and a common dog on farms because they're such good little ratters. But we saw two "Designer Dogs" last week that were so funny. One was a Chug (Chihuahua and Pug combination) and the other two were Puggles (Pug and Beagle combinations.) All of them were cute as could be, but when did mixing breeds stop being mutts and start being Designer Dogs? Is it just because a mutt is a result ...

For Those Of You Who Think That Dogs Can Be Trusted.Oct 26, 2010

Does Anyone Else Have Dogs That Are Smarter Than Them?Jul 17, 2010
I live in the sticks so don't have passersby, have no friends or relatives so I don't get company, and work 14 hours a day so I don't have a lot of time for my little canine companions through the week.  Therefore on weekends, we kinda hang out together.  This includes taking them to the store when I go grocery shopping and they wait in the car, people-watching from whatever window they choose to gaze out of.  During the heat of summer, though, I leave them home.&nb ...

One Dog Vs. Two Dogs - Update :)Apr 13, 2013
We adopted a standard dachshund today from the humane society.  I found him on Petfinder.com.  We had to drive about an hour away to get him but oh, what a sweetie.  He is only 8 months old but he isn't hyper at all.  Very laid back for a youngster.  (He hasn't even barked once!)  His tail wags constantly and he loves everybody in the family. But best of all, our tweenie dachshund loves him!  She has engaged him in play over and over.  He is stil ...

New Channel Going To The DogsJul 15, 2013
Plenty of things will grab a dog’s attention: squirrels, tennis balls, funny smells, other dogs. But a TV channel?Absolutely, say the makers of DogTV, the first cable network to deliver 24-hour programming for dogs. The idea, they say, is that flipping on the channel while you go out for the day will keep your pet stimulated, entertained and relaxed. Call it “Sesame Street” for those who will never learn their ABCs.The shows on DogTV are actually three- to six-minute segments f ...

Itchy DogsFeb 19, 2014
Has anyone tried the new "miracle" drug for itchy dogs, Apoquel? It had remarkable results in Europe, and was finally approved for the US in January. My vet is impressed with it, and says he sees results within 4 hours. I was concerned about where the drug is metabolized, since my dog is very old, and I don't want to give him anything that's metabolized in the liver or kidneys. This is apparently very safe, and the only possible reaction is diarrhea which quickly resolves after a da ...

Two Dogs DiningJul 28, 2017
I was on YouTube and my eye caught a short video of 2 dogs dining. It was something that had me LOL, so funny! How these 2 dogs were made to keep still and not go running off is amazing, but it's well worth checking it out if you need some comic relief in your life...Just search for Two Dogs Dining. Apparently, there are several different ones. The one I saw showed them in a kitchen? Too funny... ...

Flea Treatment For DogsDec 02, 2011

How To Introduce Dogs To Kids?Jun 11, 2010
I have gotten serious with my boyfriend to the point that we are considering moving in together.  I have 3 children (6, 5, and 3) and he has 2 small dachsunds that are pretty much his world.  My kids are with their dad for the summer and will be back shortly and the only thing I'm worried about is if his dogs will be okay with my kids.  I know one of them is just as loving as she can be, but the other is very picky about certain people.  Everyone I have introduced to her ...

Question About Male DogsJun 02, 2012
I have a male puppy who is about 9 months old. I have only had females so this is a real change for me! He likes to pee on everything. I realize he is marking his turf. The problem is...this is MY turf! If I have him neutered, will that stop this behavior? Also, will it make him less hyper? I know he is a puppy and is supposed to be energetic but it's beyond that. He may just be high-strung but he just does not stop! I am going to have him neutered for the health benefit anyway but was just ...

Shaving Dogs And CatsApr 28, 2013
I am an animal lover and am all for making them comfortable in the summer months, but please keep in mind that an animal's coat/fur PROTECTS them from the heat/sun.  By shaving them to the skin, you are just setting them up to get even hotter outdoors and possibly burn their skin. Their coat also protects their internal body from shifts of temperature indoors or out. A pet groomer is NOT going to tell you this--they make a good chunk of money shaving hair off pets.  If you don&# ...

Update On The Chickens And My Little Girl DogsJul 05, 2010
The chickens visit us daily.  I had been nervous about letting my dogs out when the chickens were here because the dogs go absolutely bezerk when they are at the window.  It they could break that window and get out there, they probably would.  So a few weeks has passed . . . The dogs sit at the window now and just calmy watch the chickens do their thing.  The other day, 2 of the dogs were in the window and I could not get their attention.  Looked out the window and ...

Floppy-eared Dogs With Ear Infections? Aug 05, 2012
Does anyone have any nutritional advice or home remedy for my mixed breed/predominantly pointer/hound who has chronic ear infections?  My vet gave us this stuff and we are washing his ears out every 2 days.  (Cannot wash more often as it dries his ears out too much).  We also have some ear drops, but he still scratches at his ears like he is being tortured.  There are days when I consider clipping his ears on the top of his head with clothes pins just to keep them aired out.& ...

Warning! Chinese Jerky Making Dogs/cats SickOct 23, 2013
This is BS! (CNN) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has a message for veterinarians and pet owners: If dogs or cats get sick after eating jerky pet treats, let us know. The agency says it's received reports of more than 3,600 dogs and 10 cats that got sick after eating jerky pet treats since 2007. Of those cases, the FDA says, more than 580 pets have died. "This is one of the most elusive and mysterious outbreaks we've encountered," said Bernadette Dunham, direc ...
