How many days a week do you work?

Posted: Jul 13, 2013

How many days a week do you work?  I work as an IC for more than one company and work 6 very long days a week.  Just curious how much others work.  It's not something I would choose to do, but it's necessary right now. Wondered if others were in the same boat.

7 days per week - sm

I work for 2 companies and unfortunately my pay doesn't reflect this 7-day work week, because often times I'm just sitting there praying work will come through. Seems that when one is slow, the other one is and they both pick up at once.

It's hard for me to even take one day off, because as soon as I do an abundance of work will come through and I will miss it.

It depends, but usually 5-6. One full time 8-4:30 MT employee job and then I'll work at night for my other IC jobs that I have. I try not to work Friday night or Saturday at all, but it doesn't always work out that way.

7 days too most of the time, but have two IC jobs - sm - XXX

In general work ranges from 50-200 mins over the weekend, just depends on my Friday. Have about 100 mins today but only because I got a little behind.(other wise would only have about 50 mins today)...got slammed this week....need tomorrow off to recharge...another heavy week ahead from the look of my patient lists for next week.

P.S. the person using "xxx" lower case as their ID is not me.

I work M-F 6-7 hours each.

2 jobs & 7 days a wk is a lot. How do you do it - without getting burnt out? sm

I know you gotta do what you gotta do, but it seems like at some point it would take a toll on your productivity and become hard to focus. By the way, I see you said you work 6, sorry I intended to reply to one of the ones who worked 7. But even 6 is a lot especially when you are putting in long hours.

I have been working 7 days a week, 65-70 hours a week for nearly 10 years. Have not had one week vacation to go anywhere in more than 10 years. I wouldn't recommend this schedule but one does what one has to do to survive.

working so much - wondering

I do feel a little burnt out at times. I guess that's why I was wondering if I was the only one working so much. I haven't had a vacation in more than ten years either. It would feel weird to take one, if that makes sense.

Anyway, I appreciate everyone's replies. It looks like I'm in good company.

unfortunately I guess we aren't the only ones in this situation. Pretty sad, I think. I'm in my 50s and never thought I would be working this much at my age.
This has been a serious issue for me lately - Tired lady

I didn't reply to the original message but I am scheduled to work 6 days a week. I have 1 day off, but if there is work to be done I work. Lately I've been working longer hours because first there is work, but second it seems lately it's taking longer to get my line count in. Don't know why, but what I used to type in 8 hours now takes me 10 or so. But I work because I have bills that need to be paid.

I too am in my 50s and never thought I'm be working this much. It's become a personal issue in my life since I have 3 close friends who are now retired. I always thought I'd be close to retirement in my 50s, but right now unsure if that will ever happen and it's depressing. Been working since 2nd grade. Can't wait until I can retire. Maybe another 20 years.

I have bills to pay, I am hoping to be able to back off some in the next year or two. Have an job opp coming up, if I get it that is, where I can back off some on the MT if I chose to. Will see. If it does not happen (will know in the next 3 weeks) have some other things I plan to do so I can get out of MT in 1-2 years, in any case have had enough after 12 years. It has served its purpose, though probably keep one of my jobs once I head back out to the real world, just in case and also use it for gas and clothes money.

Some here are so dead set against it that it scares me, as well as those that are so set in favor of it. Why does it scare me? Benghazi: Similar to five other government reports, the one released by the House Intelligence Committee on Friday left Republicans in the same position they have been in for two years: with little evidence to support their most damning critiques of how the Obama administration, and then-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, responded to the attacks. So, they say Biden and some "top" Democrats will not be attending. I understand the sentiment, and they can always watch on CSPAN and get the info, I suppose, but I do think they should listen, even if they don't believe he should be here, which I agree, he shouldn't. Boehner has made a large error and Republicans supporting him are being very destructive to our country's image in the world, not to mention further fracturing Congress. Week 2--canvassing For BernieSep 20, 2015
Still some undecideds, which, I find completely reasonable at this point in the process. There are a lot of people who won't get involved for a while. I have to emphasize to them that the primary is important this time and that is the reason we are canvassing. Of course, the message is the same. When we get him on the ticket, he will need the votes in the general election too, but this is about the primary. I did have one that absolutely had never heard of Bernie Sanders.  It ...

The Republican Party Left Me This WeekMar 05, 2011
I had been so hopeful that our country could stop fighting and get things done, but the actions of the Republican party this week convinces me that's not going to happen. I'm very discouraged and disappointed. I don't want to be a Democrat either, but the Republicans' actions are pushing me that direction. Independents, do you feel left out if you aren't connected to one of the large parties? Maybe that's what I want to do. I'm also thinking, after this week&# ...
