I made the mistake of looking up some old classmates on LinkedIn. I was better off not knowing.

I know just how you feel. I too have looked up old classmates and friends and have discovered everyone is doing much, much better than me. Really disheartening. Not that I'm not glad for them and their successes, but I feel I too have worked hard for the last 40 years in my chosen field and after surviving buyout after buyout Nuance is what I end up with??? Must have done something really bad somewhere along the line to deserve this.

there was some solace in knowing one of them was an alcoholic transient, several were stuck in abusive marriages, and that I wasn't the only one who was unemployed. Many were unhealthy, and some have died already. So I count my blessings that I have my health, my freedom, and no one tells me what to do!

doctors, one a dentist, several teachers, a nuclear physicist, nearly all went to college and I never felt in awe of any of them, did not think I was lower, glad to know that we had such a great group of kids. Know no one who was into drugs, alcoholics, homeless but then I am a child of another era, and glad to say so. I have been at every single high school reunion that we have, got another coming up next year and already planning my entrance style!

I've looked up many of mine; in fact there is a reunion site with bios and all the rest of it. 3 that I graduated with (in 1964) are published authors. One of them who was the class vice president and a real big shot back in the day had the synopsis of her book from the inside cover on the reunion site. It actually had a misspelling in it. LOL

Misspellings. You can find those anywhere - and everywhere. I have found

misspelled words in ad for high end furrier out of Alaska in high end magazine, found in a newspaper posting about a dry cleaner being 1 of the best (had that hanging in the cleaners), see on TV news all the time, saw on neon sign outside DQ advertising chiken (?) sandwich, see on menus constantly, the president of our neighborhood sent out asking us people to be sure and not liter so people seem obvious to the misspelled words around them, just do not see them as we would.

from my family didn't have the opportunities (money) to further our educations and we had a super-dysfunctional upbringing, but while they're all extremely successful financially and career-wise, I actually think I'm "happier" if that makes any sense. I feel like my quality of life is better.

Anybody else have a body complex where they ALWAYS feel fat, or is it just me? I would LOVE to be happy with my body, but I can't and it frustrates me. They're threatening to sue the Tucson Police Department because the police department wants to destroy guns turned in via their buyback program. A lot of doctors that I transcribe for are telling their patients as old as 18 not to get any kind of radiology done that they might not need because of the risk of cancer later in life. Every year since my 2000 wedding have spent Christmas Day with hubs family (have daughter by another marriage, grown and out of the home).
