Anyone else addicted to tweezing chin hair? since I turned 50--sm

Posted: Jul 29, 2013

I have sprouted all these black hairs on my chin. A man would be proud to have them. Can't afford electrolysis though.

I have 2 particular ones that I go after every 3-4 days. - L&L

Luckily for me I am very fair haired still and they don't show up too visibly; they just feel like wire, tho.

Me too! I hate the little buggers! - AgingBah

I wish there was some little, affordable home zap kit that would permanently remove them!

Alas, even blonde hair shows badly in my sideburns. Epilady is okay for the neck and chin, but much too painful for the face itself.

I used to only have a couple but now I've got about 10 and my mustache is growing in pretty thick, too. I also have eyebrow hairs growing down onto my eyelids and my actual eyelid hair has to be trimmed before I can tweeze it. I'm expecting chest and back hair any day now. Started when I hit my early 40s with blonde hair, now it's full on black curly and hard in my late 50s. Yeah another one of those joys of growing older nobody told me about.

I have three of them so I braid them. - LOL - funny story inside

[ In Reply To ..]
No, I don't braid them, just joking. Funny story. Went to the dentist not too long ago, had to take some Valium before I left. Got home and realized I had only put one earring in. Told my friend they probably didn't even notice I was missing an earring cos I forgot to pluck my big ol chin hair. LOL

Tweezers! - Never leave home without one!

Chin hairs! Ugh! How can they spring out an inch overnight???

Just be glad you don't have ear hair.

I started that when I turned 30. - Poor me.

I am constantly running my fingers over my chin in search of new hairs. :(

Dang Chin Hair - How Do You Deal With It If You Have It?Jan 12, 2010
You know that old saying that every time you pluck a gray hair, 2 more grow in? Well, now that I've passed 40, I have the pleasure of chin hair - something I never had before.  Good grief.  Black ones too.  Not those really fine white hairs.  And I swear - for every one I pluck, 5 more grow in.  My MIL says she shaves every day.  My SIL and I pluck.  However, I worked with a girl who used to work for a derm doc and she swears that laser tre ...

Question About Hair. I Am Older And Have Rather Fine Hair But I Do Jan 24, 2017
get it foiled with some color in it.  I have been thinking about a curly perm but I am not sure what kind to get and I would have my hairdresser do it.  I dont want a fuzz ball so I am wondering if anyone here has tried this on colored hair just streaked color.  I want a good perm that would last for a while and have curl to it but not tight.  My hairdresser does not carrying prems anymore and the company they deal with does not sell them either.  They are expensive ...

Husband Is Addicted To The Gym. Jan 17, 2013
This is the stupidest problem ever, but my husband is addicted to the gym.  He doesn't stay all day, but he goes every day.  He gets off earlier than I do and goes.  Then I get home and am expected to cook dinner while he is there or while he is showering afterwards.  If I don't cook, he will go get fast food.  He does NOT cook . His gym time has precluded us from doing other activities such as keeping our grandkids in the afternoon/evening and he has even ...

I've wk'd at home for 10 yrs and have very few "close" friends to share w/ but  thought some fellow MTs, might "get me."  The last 3 months have been rough.  The comp I loved for those 10 yrs was bought, my pay and self-esteem tanked, my accounts were suddenly gone, I spent 10-12 hrs/day trying to get in an 8-hr shift, hubs didn't understand, cat was lost by sitter while I was OOT, and my g'ma died the day I got back.  Doc prescribed an antianxiety med as ...

Has Speaker Boehner Turned A Page ToNov 07, 2012
"Mr President, this is your moment.  We want you to lead."  He's calling on him to "make good on a balanced approach."  "Lets find the common ground that has eluded us."  He messaged a willingness to consider higher taxes as part of a tax code overhaul "under the right conditions."  He then turned around and referenced past budget talks he had with the president, who Boehner said "endorsed the idea of tax reform and lower rates, including the top rate of lower than ...

Gowdy Turned The Tables On The Media.Jun 23, 2016
Congressman Trey Gowdy turned the tables on the media and asked them questions about Benghazi. The silence was deafening. Best video clip I have seen in months. I hope you watch it, it's only 3 minutes. The Media should be embarrassed by Congressman Trey Gowdy 's questions. This is most certainly the most embarrassing event that has occurred in the last 16 months. The burden falls on the media who have not done anything to investigate this. https://www.youtube.com/em ...

Just Turned C-Span On And They Are Debating The 2012 BudgetApr 15, 2011
There are a bunch of people in the gallery that have been causing a commotion. The Chair is getting furious since this is dragging out longer than it's supposed to and has now stated and told the Capitol Police that prosecution may take place. What the heck is wrong with people nowadays? Disrupting a democratic process like this was never the American way. Respect for the process (not talking about the politicians) has to take place in an orderly way. Just because some don't like what ...

Is There Any Help For My HairMay 01, 2011
I understand as we grow older our bodies change, skin gets saggy, wrinkled, loses elasticity, etc and our hair changes.  What I'm wondering is this.  Is there a product, vitamin, or whatever that can make your hair look younger and healthier.  Growing up I had beautiful hair, soft natural curls that the hairdressers said people would die to have curls that are natural like that.  Now at 51 years old my hair is coarse, and frizzy.  I can find some curls here and ther ...

Dog HairJun 14, 2011
For those of you with dogs that shed (like my Golden), can you share you grooming schedule and favorite brush? I've used to use a rake but found a tool that's cheaper than a Furminator (sp?) and doesn't rip the skin. It's made by Oster and called a Shedzilla. I've been brushing him every couple of days but this time of year, I'm wondering if I should do it more often? I like to do it outside to keep the fur out of the house as much as possible. ...

News Is Casey Turned Down Visit From Her Mother. BafflingJul 11, 2011
Cindy is sounding screwier than her daughter.  Why in the world would Cindy want to see Casey after accusing her son and her husband of incest?  What would they talk about?  Would Cindy want to know about the accidental drowning? Would she ask Casey who hid the body, how it got to the swamp area near their house, who double bagged and duct taped the drowning victim?  Would she ask about the incest?  The commentators are all fired up that Casey would turn down ...

Flashback: Clinton White House Turned Off Cameras For PressJun 29, 2017
With mainstream media reporters telling their audiences that the end is nigh over the Trump White House decision to hold fewer press briefings on camera, few are mentioning that the move is not without precedent — with President Bill Clinton’s White House turning off the cameras in the ’90s because they weren’t “necessary.” The Trump administration has been reducing the number of press briefings available to cameras in recent weeks, triggering horror from many in anti-Trump press ...

Hair Falling OutFeb 04, 2012
I am devastated right now.  I had long, thick beautiful hair and over the past couple of months I have noticed a big change in it.  Now it is falling out!  Long strands just letting loose.  At this rate, I will be bald in a couple of weeks and that is not an exaggeration.  It doesn't even look or feel like hair.  It is shriveling up and is very light and falling out!  How and why can this happen and will it stop?  Has this happened to anyone? ...

Help - Need Hair Color FixFeb 01, 2010
A few days ago I colored my hair black.  The box said (and looked like it would be a soft black), and it turned out way blacker than I imagined (if that's possible).  I usually go brown, but the reason I went black was to try to get back to as close as my natural color while the gray is coming in.  I really didn't want to color my hair, however, between the brown I last colored it, the gray coming in, and the "soft" black that was mixed in with the gray I had too many co ...

alopecia areata, have you tried any home remeadies that have worked?  I have gone to the dermatoloigst, have received 3 sets of cortisone shots to the scalp so far, no luck, just a few fine hairs coming in.  It should have all grown back at this point from the injections.  So now we are waiting a year to see if anything changes (been about 2 years already so looks pretty permanent right now).  Doc gave me samples of Protopic but basically said she did not expect it to work bu ...

Do You Wash Your Hair Every Day?Jul 02, 2010

I shampoo/condition my hair every day as I cannot stand the feeling of my hair being dirty or greasy-looking or whatever. Pink HairAug 03, 2010
Can anyone recommend a product that will cover gray/white roots without turning my hair a pink color?  Some years ago I was using over the counter color and was actually approached by people, telling me my hair was "purple."  I told my stylist and she said the over  the counter products have a violet base, and when applied to brown hair it gives a pretty highlight.  If you apply it to hair that has lost its color it soaks up the violet color and that's what you see.  ...

Wen Hair Care?Apr 15, 2012
Battling insomnia last night, I watched an infomercial for this product and the thought behind it makes sense to keep one's hair at its healthiest (especially if platinum blond, like I currently am). Hair Dye What To Buy Tired Of ColorsilkDec 03, 2009
I have long hair that usually takes about 3 boxes of dye.  I usually only do it about 2-3 times a year and do the all over color each time because my color tends to fade.  I think hair dye might be one of those things that you get what you pay for.  I usually buy the Colorsilk ($2-$3 at Walmart) because it is cheaper and I am usually broke.  This year I think I will splurge a little and buy a more expensive brand.  In the past I have tried the Herbal ess. and Natrual Ins ...

I Am About To Frost My Hair. Any Tips?Nov 09, 2010
I actually have Loreal in a box but also went out a year ago and bought the individual products.  I finally have the nerve to do it as my hair is dull mouse brown and long - and now looking lifeless and bland.  I am 50 and want to enjoy long hair for a bit longer before I chop it off for convenience sake.   Should I make small streaks or bold. No More Brittle Hair Or Dry Skin.Sep 20, 2010
If any of you have problems with brittle hair and dry skin, try a shower filter.  The water in your shower is filled with chemicals, minerals, and the same or more amount of chlorine as swimming pool water.  I just purchased an Aquasana shower filter.  In less than 1 week, I have noticed a tremendous difference in the softness of my hair and skin.  It is like showering in pure spring water.  There is no way I would ever go back to using plain shower water again!  ...
