Working with republicans

Posted: Nov 28, 2010

Keep voting republican folks. Pretty soon there will be no one left who can afford to live here except a few mega rich and their staff which will include private physicians and folks to oversee the paperwork on all the jobs they created in other countries. ;

Did you read the whole article or just the first paragraph? - Backwards Typist

I think you saw "Republican" in the first paragraph and quit reading after that. Trying reading the second paragraph.

"Budget proposals from leaders in both parties have urged shrinking or eliminating tax breaks that help make employer health insurance the leading source of coverage in the nation and a middle-class mainstay."

Tom Daschle  and said there's no short-term prospect, "but in a tax reform (and) deficit reducing context in the long term, the prospects are much better."

He opposes repealing the tax break by itself, but says he would be "willing to look" at it with other changes that improve access to quality health care while reducing costs.

Doesn's sound like this is all Republican to me. Anyway, they're just throwing ideas around right now. Nothing is written in stone.

I read the whole article. It's the pub's idea, and - looks like

the dems are talking about working with them on it. Caving to the pressure.

Read the post I just submitted. (nm) - Backwards Typist

I think you saw "both parties" and blocked out "repealing - the tax break by itself"

You should not accuse folks of seeing the word "Republican" and stopping there. You're starting to sound like someone else on this board.

There are other articles out there on this subject too should you be interested in looking.

Am a bit surprised Tom Daschle is quoted - he is ex-senator

[ In Reply To ..]
Isn't he employed as a lobbyist now? (just like many former insiders) I do not think he is actually an official representative of the Democratic party now.

No, that is happening with the democrats in charge - Evil Republican

[ In Reply To ..]
If people keep voting democrat, until that party changes back to the party of the people (like it was 40-50 years and more ago) things will just continue to get worse and worse. Higher taxes, higher health care costs, etc, etc. (that's what America has had with the democrats in office). Until we have politicians in both parties who start working for the people (which we haven't had since probably as far back as Reagan or JFK, if not further back), it will only continue to get worse.

Your statement encompasses what is in there now. Americans throughout the country are losing their homes and can't afford to live here pretty much. Homelessness is on the rise, people can't afford health care, etc. The few mega rich and their staff to include private physicians, etc..., well excuse me for pointing out the fact but that is both democrat and republicans.

What we need is a person to lead the country who will bring both parties together. We were promised that with Obama (HE promised us that), but when he took office he did a complete about-face and divided the parties further. Now all I see is the democrats/progressives, etc with so much hatred towards the conservatives for no good reason.

Your statement "Keep voting republican folks" is a good example of that. There are good and bad in BOTH parties. Neither party is perfect and both parties have their flaws. What we've seen is that congress has been democrat for the last 2 years and things are going downhill so fast we're on the express train to he!!. It is the decisions of the democrats who have put us in this place. They have been in office for the past two years and they are the ones who voted on issues/bills. Then they can't even take responsibility, they have to blame everything bad that has happened under their reign on republicans, when republicans have had nothing to do with it.

Right now all I know is that if I vote for democrats it will only get worse. That is why the majority of the country voted in republicans this last election. They knew things were bad under democrats, so its now time to give republicans a chance to fix things.

There are a lot of good democrats and there a lot of good republicans. Now if we could get rid of the bad and keep the good then things would improve.

And until we can get a leader who can bring both parties together and stop demonizing the party they don't belong to this country will never get along. We certainly don't have it with PO and he shows us each time he gives a speech.

In full appreciation of your passion for the - republicans

[ In Reply To ..]
You are sadly mistaken and stating the obvious, such as there are mega rich of both parties, doesn't change a thing.

Thanks for your appreciation - Evil republican

[ In Reply To ..]
My passion is for any person in politics who works for the people of the country. I've supported and voted for people in all parties (even voted green party one year). There are many good politicians who are republican, democrat, independent, and other parties. Unfortunately for the past 2 years all we have seen are the bad ones.

Yes there are mega rich in all parties and you are right, it doesn't change a thing. The democrats have still been in charge for the past two years. Things have gotten worse, and taxes, health care and everything else has gone up. People are continuing to lose their homes, and families all over the country have been losing their jobs and having to go to homeless shelters because they cannot afford to live anymore (and it doesn't matter when it started, it's been continuing on under a democratic congress).

Your opinion that I'm mistaken is just that...an opinion. But I and over half of the other country got it right at election time. We all decided to vote out the politicians who were not working for us and were basically self-serving and driving this country down the ditch, and we all voted in people we believe (hope, although hope is such an over-rated word since the election 2 years ago) will be able to fix the mess the country is in and get working for the people again.
You are - welcome

Funny how the vote goes back and forth isn't it? All based on opinions like yours and mine. Back and forth and back and forth and back.

how congress can do anything about the big insurance companies and their lobbyists who are those politician's pockets? I am not sure if Obama's healthcare policy is going to help me or not since so much of it doesn't even go into effect for 2 or more years. I also realize that the dems have been pretty much a do-nothing congress and the pubs filibuster, so nothing gets done. Too much polarization and no working together for us the people. I would like to see someone and I don't know who that is put a stop to these darn insurance companies continuously raising our premiums and nobody stops them. It's all about greed in my opinion and I have lost hope that those elite at the top really care about the good of the people when money talks to loud. It is very disheartening to say the least. I am SO sick of politics and the pundents and the rhetoric that I could scream!!!!
Totally agree with you - I can't wait until the insurance companies

have to provide health insurance rather than CEO bonuses. We can't give up--we have to keep being informed (with facts) and voting for those who advocate for the consumer and not the companies. There are some.

David Frum To Republicans: Stop Working For Fox And LimbaughMar 26, 2010
03/26/2010 David Frum used to be a speechwriter for the GW Bush administration. You may remember him as the guy who wrote the "Axis of Evil" statement for Bush's speech. In 2003, he moved over to working for the American Enterprise Institute as a Fellow. This week, Frum had a "parting of the ways" with the AEI, and is now unemployed. He was fired, in other words. On Sunday, Mr. Frum wrote on his website, FrumForum, that health-care reform had been a debacle for the Republican party, sayin ...

Working While Pregnant...smDec 30, 2009

Do any of you MTs or QAs have fibromyalgia or a form of arthritis which causes you to hurt almost daily and be depressed? How do you cope and work? I am so afraid I have developed fibromyalgia (which is something that tends to run in my family), and I am finding it very hard to sit and work 40 hours a week at a computer. Anyone Else Like Working Early MorningsAug 19, 2012
