I'm working too. I work in house and I am the only one here in the whole office today. We have three transcriptionists and we switch off holidays. I'm kind of glad it is storming here, it makes working not so bad, although I can barely keep my eyes open....only a few more hours to go! Happy Memorial day, hope you are able to enjoy some of it at least!

My hubby's still sleeping, I've got insomnia and got up at 3 a.m. and have been working off and on while Real Housewives of New York plays on the DVR. I working on an IC account that I really enjoy so I can stop and enjoy a bit of my coffee whenever I please, which is such a nice change. I'm off from my FTE gig today, but only because it's my usual day off. Otherwise, it would be a whole different story, LOL!

Are you working long hours today or do you only have to stay on until the work runs out?

So, yeppers, you're not alone...looks like there are at least a couple of us working figuratively working right beside you, LOL!

I have to stay a minimum of 4 hours. It would be nice to stay longer for the time and 1/2 pay, but it's also nice to get back to the kids and enjoy the day with them. I just have to make sure to get all the top priority stuff done--H&P, radiology, consults, etc. After that I am free to go and leave the rest of it for tomorrow! I don't usually mind the holidays, all the phones are off so no one can bother me!If only every day were like this!

At the end of 2010 when I selected which holidays I would work in 2011, I neglected to carefully look at the dates. I'm scheduled to work today, and it's also my younger son's 21st birthday. We bought baseball tickets and had planned to spend the day in Washington, DC. Unfortunately, I'm now stuck at home while the family is celebrating his birthday.

And of course, there's no work available, but I have to be here to check for the couple of reports that will dribble in today. And, I'm sure that later this week I'll get an email letting me know that my line count is short.

Eh, it was my fault for not paying attention in the first place.

Fortunately I have plenty of work. I work 2 private accounts. I make my own hours and as long as I can meet their deadlines, which are not as tight as some, I can pretty much take off a day or two now and then.

Looks like everyone bailed at the place I work and they can't find anyone to help out. Seems odd, with everyone crying poor mouth all the time, that no one would want the dough. Good weather does that to folks I guess.

With Memorial Day having just passed it brought to mind why our service men and women are fighting. To preserve our freedoms and that includes freedom of speech and the freedoms to believe what we want. In planning a memorial service for my mom, I am finding it not so easy to get suggested donation amounts for her pastor, the soloist, and the pianist. They just say, whatever you decide is fine. Do any of you MTs or QAs have fibromyalgia or a form of arthritis which causes you to hurt almost daily and be depressed? How do you cope and work? Just wondering if any MTs are really happy where they're working right now? I need to find a new job, but honestly am not sure I really even want to continue being an MT. Just wondering if I'm the only one who enjoys getting up early and working? Most people I know think that's crazy to want to get up early, especially on weekends. After 20 years MTing, my wrist and hand pain disappeared after starting editing versus transcribing. But now both shoulders ache and I have pain on lifting above head.
