Our democracy is not working anymore

Posted: Nov 1, 2016

I am amazed how lies and innuendo can possibly steal an election.

1.  FBI director coming out and saying there might be a problem (but has not even seen the e-mails).

2.  The Birther's who wanted to disenfranchise our country's first black president.

3.  The Swiftboaters throwing manure on a Vietnam vet, Kerry.    (Makes me think of Trumps 'bone spur' that kept him out of the draft and Trump saying he doesn't like vets who get caught and are prisoners of war --McCain.  Oh yeah, then Trump's disrespect of the Khan family who lost their son in combat.)_

4.  The Florida vote fiasco where they were going to drag out the election of the president by studying hanging chads to death.

I am so sick of Trump and all the Republicans who support him.

Did you know women have only had the right to vote for 94 years? - way behind

[ In Reply To ..]
Women need to fight back against the sexism, even sexual assault, that is perpetrated against them--especially from the Republican candidate for President of the United States. Makes me wonder how the women of this country put up with it. It is going to get worse if Trump is elected.

Things got better under Obama? Things got better under Bill Clinton? - (no pun intended for sure)

I don't know what alternate universe you live in, but where I live I don't see Trump as the threat to women here. It's Hillary Clinton who's been raking in huge piles of money from those who oppress and abuse women on a staggering scale unlike anything seen here in the United States. It's Hillary Clinton who viciously savaged and abused her husband's victims. It's Hillary Clinton who looks the other way when her BFF's husband is sexting young girls (which she knew about since 2011).

Get a grip, woman, and use your brain.

There is no sexual assault from the candida you wrote - In fact....

There are law suits pending for those women who are falsely accusing him of things he did not do. There are witnesses to prove they are lying and it is coming out that Hitlery has paid them to falsely accuse him of something he did not do.

Oh, and by the way, did you hear about the sexual assault of minors by that woman and her girlfriend. Pics were found among the emails.

Good example of lies and innuendo - nm

Trump has bragged about his sexual assaults! Where is your proof of claims that Hillary is paying his accusers who agree with Trump that he assaulted them? What e-mails with minors?

Candida, I like that - suits Trump

A disgusting yeast fungus, growing and threatening to overtake our democracy.

You've been drinking the Koolaid a long time - nolieshere

If Kerry had become president, we'd have had WWIII and worse.

I feel sorry for you. You have been blind for some time where your politics come from.

If you really looked at the Democratic record, outside of president Kennedy, the only good president who was Democratic, you would see exactly how corrupt they are.

I have to wonder what our country would have been like had JFK and Robert Kennedy lived.

Let's start with the fact that - this isn't a democracy.

[ In Reply To ..]
It's a constitutional republic. "Democracy:" Rules of men. "Constitutional republic:" Rules of law.

Actually, America is a DEMOCRATIC constitutional republic. - I see this error all the time.

[ In Reply To ..]
Of the various classes of governmental structure, America falls into the class of a democracy. You're talking about a SUBSET of that class, not the class itself.

...and your abbreviated definition is wrong as well. Democracies such as the United States are governed by the rule of law, not of men. In fact, that is one of the hallmarks of our democracy. Constitutional republics have no special claim on the "rule of law."

Exactly! Woodrow Wilson started calling it a democacy, and - he started calling the free market

capitalism. He was a progressive leftist.

Our Democracy Is DyingDec 15, 2014
In case anybody hasn't noticed, democracy in America is dying now. This isn't an overstatement; it's a fact. Corporate interests dominate our politics so much at this point that our government, for all intents and purposes, is merely its handmaiden. Whatever Wall Street wants, Wall Street gets. Corporatism is the new order of the day. One political party stands for it; the other political party won't stand against it. The word inertia means the tendency of an object to move ...

Announcement: The US Is No Longer A Democracy. Sep 08, 2016
...that is little different from the feudal system that existed in England at the time of the American Revolution. No, we don't designate "lords, ladies, dukes and earls" as such, but have no doubt that they exist. No, we don't have a king...or do we? Thomas Jefferson knew something about the insidious ways in which power becomes concentrated in the hands of the few, and used in ways that benefited the few to the disadvantage of the many. He predicted that every generatio ...

In The United States, Democracy Is A LieApr 20, 2013
Do you ever wonder why it seems we’re always having the same fights over public policy? Why is it that after we get off our butts, stand in line for hours at the polls, cast our ballots, and are told we “won,” nothing seems to get resolved? Aren’t elections supposed to have consequences? What happened to “We the People”?Americans grow up believing they live in a democracy, indeed the world’s greatest democracy. Too bad that’s a lie.Consider gun con ...

Democracy Requires An Educated ElectorateMar 02, 2016
I recently learned that the reason education through high school in our country was "free," (though obviously paid for by taxes) was because in order for democracy to work, you have to have a well-educated electorate, i.e., you can't turn over the decision-making process to people who are not well informed.  Looking at the demographics of the Trump supporters, which reveal that so many are NOT well educated, and not well informed enough to see that a President of the United States ...

I Told You That Obama Was The Threat To DemocracyMar 04, 2017
...and now we know that he tapped Trump Towers in the month before the election. This is worse than Watergate by far. We know he has moles inside the intelligence agencies, DOJ and the State Department. He is using the information they provide to try to take down the duly-elected President of the United States "either by resignation or impeachment" as someone close to Obama has said. We know about the Obama DOJ slush fund funneling $billions to leftist organizations, which is a violation of Fe ...

Good News For Believers In Representative Democracy.Nov 07, 2013
The question was, would angry Democratic voters turn out for a midterm election? The GOP was betting it all that they wouldn't. Well, angry black voters did. Approximately 10% of the population, they were 20% of the voters who said Get Lost to Governor McDonnell and his would-be successor Ken Cuccinelli.  Even more specifically, angry black women voters turned out. 91% of them voted for McAuliffe/against McDonnell. I'm sorry to say white women actually cut strongly for McDonnell, ...
