Wonderful words of a Democrat President....

Posted: Nov 27, 2010

John F. Kennedy, from inauguration address:

We observe today not a victory of a party, but a celebration of freedom- symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning - signifying renewal, as well as change.  For I have sworn before you and almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears described nearly a century and three-quarters ago.

The world is very different now.  For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.  And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe - the belief that rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution.  Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans - born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage - and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

I agree with Sarah Palin's assessment that it is hard to imagine a Democrat president voicing these sentiments today, and harder still to imagine he or she meaning them.  The Democratic Party has changed...and I find that sad to the point of tears.  I hope the party of my parents has not gone forever.  I say with complete sincerity that I hope - and pray - it finds its way back.

Your conclusion is like a - false Christian quoting from the Bible

You can find a verse for whatever wrongful point you want to make, and use it for whatever selfish purpose.

Disgusting. Not surprised Ms. Palin has something to do with your assessment.

I would not expect you to understand...you are not part of the solution....yada yada. - sam

You just underscore the sadness.

Yep, and dems can rarely lose gracefully. They - are too blinded by pure hatred these days.nm

?? McCain was VERY graceful/gracious... However, - remember Os inauguration and how

terribly the DC crowd treated Bush as he flew off? I was embarrassed for the country at that point... totally shameful, but not surprising.

That was an excellent speech by JFK - Democrat party sure is not what it used to be

I'm not a Palin fan. I don't ever listen to her. Don't hate her but I just don't care for her so I just never listen to her, and I sure wish she would just go back to AK and stay there and quit running around saying nobody else in the party wants the job of POTUS so she'll have to be the one. Aaks!

I think there may be very few democrats, less than a handful - or maybe half a handful...well maybe even less, one or two (but then that's a stretch), who do not agree with JFK's speech. It would be nice if more democrats spoke up, and the ones who still have the beliefs from the party 40 or 50 years ago would break free and form their own party. It's been so infiltrated with haters, psychopaths, liars, and mentally unstable and imbalanced people (not all but most of them). They certainly don't hold the same values as the Democrats from long ago. I've read many articles from people all over the world about this, and read an article written by a psychiatrist, bout the fall of the democrat party. It is very sad.

Who are the haters, psychopaths, liars, and mentally unstable and imbalanced people? - I would love to know.

Well, I was ambivalent about Sarah Palin until I read her last book... - sam

I took my own advice because I wanted to know her. Let's just say I feel differently now. Whether or not she could be President, the jury is out on that one; however, I do find that I agree with her in a lot of things regarding this country and life in general. It is nice to hear about someone in their own words and not to take the media slant for gospel.

And, after reading her book, my opinion of her has changed. You can learn a lot about a person who writes about themselves and not just their political leanings. As I did from President Obama's book. I recommend both.

Would you care to share what SP's assessment - is as it relates to JFK

I don't have the book.
Buy it. it is worth the read. nm - sam

Dissing The President...a Secret Service Agent (a Democrat)vows NOT To Protect The Jan 25, 2017
The Democrats have introduced a deadly strain of citizenship in the wake of the tumultuous presidential campaign: If you don’t like the outcome of an election, pay no attention to the law and substitute your own do-it-yourself presidency. Two Democratic congressmen, one a senator and the other a member of the House of Representatives, have introduced an amendment to the law to prevent Donald Trump from carrying out his presidential duties. Elsewhere, a Secret Service agent, assigned to pro ...

I can hardly believe my granddaughter will be turning five next month.  My daughter asked me what foods would be a good idea.  There will be ice-cream and cake, of course, but I've drawn a blank, as most kids won't eat more than 2-3 foods anyway, at least my kids wouldn't at that age.  Anyone with any suggestions would be most appreciated! ...

Wonderful Nature ShowNov 16, 2011
Tonight I just finished watching "My Life As a Turkey" on Public Broadcasting.   Anyone who loves animals and nature would love this.  It is about a man who found and incubated wild turkey eggs, raised them and lived with them in the forrest for 1 1/2 years.  This was truly an inspirational film and so beautifully demonstrates the bond between man and the animal kingdom.   I would be interested to hear what others thought of this wonderful story.    T ...

You should really stop and think what he's doing to a lot of people OUT OF SPITE! Yes, that's what I said....you never saw this happen during shutdowns before. You know about the war memorials being shut down. Here's another spiteful nove that was made. Why I Voted DemocratNov 04, 2009
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 THIS IS ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC...   Why I voted Democrat: I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my horse. A Conversation With A Staunch Democrat...Dec 07, 2015
I had the occasion over the weekend to have a conversation with a former neighbor, a staunch liberal democrat from New York. We used to have many discussions over the past years about politics, always polite, always respectful. In fact, she is one of the few liberals I know who is not full of vitriol and hateful rhetoric. What she told me this past weekend shocked me. She admitted to me that I had been right all along about BO and his ineffective leadership. She said she never felt so helpless ...
