I hope those of you who love Obama still think he's wonderful

Posted: Oct 6, 2013

You should really stop and think what he's doing to a lot of people OUT OF SPITE! Yes, that's what I said....you never saw this happen during shutdowns before. You know about the war memorials being shut down. Here's another spiteful nove that was made. Yesterday, I read that the park service was told they are supposed to make it as miserable as they can on the people. Well, they're doing a good job.

Since they'are forcing people out of their homes, then what's good for the goose is good for the gander...i.e., Obama and everyone else living in homes owned by the government have to vacate immediately.

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The government shutdown is being felt close to home for some locals. They say they're being forced out of private homes on Lake Mead because they sit on federal land.

Joyce Spencer is 77-years-old and her husband Ralph is 80. They've been spending most of their time in the family ice cream store since going home isn't an option.

The Spencers never expected to be forced out of their Lake Mead home, which they've owned since the 70s, but on Thursday, a park ranger said they had 24 hours to get out.

"I had to go to town today and buy Ralph undershirts and jeans because I forgot his pants," Joyce Spencer told Action News.

The Stewart's Point home sits on federal land, so even though the Spencers own their cabin outright, they're not allowed in until the government reopens.

Park officials said property owners can visit only to retrieve belongings; they sent Action News a statement which reads in part, "Unfortunately overnight stays are not permitted until a budget is passed and the park can reopen."

Joyce Spencer said she's alright in the meantime, staying with nearby family, but the move was a lot to handle as a senior citizen.

"I had to be sure and get his walker and his scooter that he has to go in," Spencer said. "We're not hurt in any way except it might cost me if I have to go buy more pants."

The Lake Mead properties are considered vacation homes; one of the lease requirements to own a plot is people must have an alternative residence.

Regardless, the Spencers said it's their property and they should be allowed in, shutdown or not.

I've heard several stories like that, from different states. (sm) - LM

I'm sorry for the people being affected, but glad in the way that at least people are beginning to see the true colors of the Democrats and the downright spite of Obama - their Chosen One. Even Bill Moyers had something to say on the subject. I'm glad the Republicans are starting to act like real men (no offense to the women) and stand up to the tyrant, instead of acting like scared little rabbits. Whether they end up having to back down or not, I say thank you to Ted Cruz for inspiring some of them.

In case you don't know it, it is the Republicans who are holding American's hostage. They are acting like scoolyard bullies by not getting their way in the repeal of the affordable health act. I do not have a crystal ball and don't know if this is a good idea, but my mother-in-law died because she could not get health insurance and could not afford medical care. My brother-in-law has cancer and has had to file bankruptcy because of medical bills.

Here's one of those stories - in Harry Reid's state. - Obama golfs.

He's standing up to the *****. It's the policy of our government to not negotiate ****** (or politicians throwing temper tantrums) and I'm incredibly proud of him for that.

Boehner could shut this down NOW. Could have shut it down last week. All he has to do is put a clean CR bill and allow it to be voted on. He won't because it will pass. The GOP shutdown will continue while the GOP politicians continue kicking and screaming and demanding, "We have to get SOMETHING out of this" or "We have to save face" or "We were disrespected."

They need to grow the **** up and GOVERN which they have not done since PRESIDENT OBAMA took office. They are a pox upon the American people and I'll celebrate when they lose the House in 2014.

Love President Obama and happy to see him FINALLY telling the GOP to put up or shut up.

you only - think he is

[ In Reply To ..]
"wonderful" because you think you are going to get something "free" out of it. and the only person or group who is NOT governing, is HIM. He is supposed to LEAD the other groups, republicans and democrats, and any other group out there, who I am not affiliated with, into the right choices for the PEOPLE, not for any particular group or to pay off any particular special interest. He cannot and will not do that, because he has made promises to these groups and/or people, and if he backs down, he will lose credibility. so stop wanting stuff for "free," and things will look differently for you. He is no president material at all. ugh.

Why do people keep claiming that "free" line - when we all know

ACA is not free? How do you get from here to there?

Obama is ultimately the captain of the ship and responsible for it - whether it sails or goes down - he had 3 chances to accept terms on his ridiculous health care program - including one where Congress did not want to be exempted it from it, as it should be as the constitution says - for ALL the people - which leads to the next question - if it's do darn wonderful, why is Obama exempting himself from it? This man will go down as the worst first half black president in history. Our country is going down the crapper and now, since he isn't getting his way, his true colors are coming out, and he is not caring who that may be. A spoiled brat.

"This man will go down as the worst first half black president in history."

The above statement has been the goal of (at least) Mitch McConnell since the day of Obama's first inauguration, before he had a chance to do ANYTHING. Although he didn't specify race, it certainly wasn't too difficult to read between the lines to see that's what he meant.

I believe you are completely backwards on Obama's kindness to American people. He worked very hard to come up with the ACA, and he compromised with the republicans when he wrote the Act (which is why it needs to be tweaked in so many places that contain republican ideas). For example, Obama wanted a single payor plan, but the republicans were against that (no surprises here).

Perhaps he chose not to sign up for the insurance because he has more money than most Americans. He developed the ACA because he was worried about lower and middle class people who had no access to insurance because it was a rich man's item to have, and many, many single moms, single people (period), etc. simply couldn't afford health insurance unless it had a $5,000 or $10,000 deductible.

The goal of the republicans (and they are succeeding right now in doing that more) is to move as many middle class people as possible into the "poor" category, kind of like wringing water out a washcloth. They're apt to get mileage out of this stunt for a while before they have to think up a new hurt to bestow upon everyone but the rich. A new "attack on the homeland" would not surprise me in the least!!!

I AGREE AND APPRECIATE PRESIDENT OBAMA'S STANCE - roybrit

I absolutely agree with PRESIDENT OBAMA. The republicans do not care about the everyday citizen. They have always been primarily concerned about corporations. I appreciate PRESIDENT OBAMA’s sticking up for health insurance for people who otherwise would not have it. My family is fortunate, we have health insurance and have always had health insurance. We have worked hard and have paid off our homes. The Affordable Care Act is the law of the country and this foolish temper tantrum by the republicans cannot and will not stop it. THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Oy, *******? - sd

Obama cares NOTHING for the everyday American citizen. It doesn't matter if you have health insurance, Obamacare is going to change it for you whether you like it or not - I have health insurance also, but my plan is being canceled now because Obamacare is in the works. You will see just how all your hard work paid off when you pay double the premiums for coverage you don't need or want, but is included inthe plan. THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Destroying American piece by piece.

{caps denote emphasis, not yelling)

People, use your heads. The ACA is a law THAT HAS BEEN HASHED OVER, VOTED ON, AND APPROVED BY ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT, right up to the Supreme Court. Dems and Repubs did, in fact, do a lot compromising before the law was passed.

What is wrong are the holdouts thinking they can change a law by attaching it to the federal budget. That's just not how it works, and those who think it is need another 8th grade civics lesson.

Personally, I don't like every single thing that is in the ACA, but much of it was needed and way overdue. But, I digress, because that isn't the point of this whole current mess.

The point is, it's a passed law. The only ones holding the country at ransom are those who think they can repeal a law by such antics.

Hey, if they want to try to effect changes, fine. Just do it in the proper way without making the rest of the country suffer.

It really is as simple as that.

In response - to your post

what you wrote: "THAT HAS BEEN HASHED OVER, VOTED ON, AND APPROVED BY ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT, right up to the Supreme Court." is exactly right... except that it was not voted on an approved by the American Public. It was railroaded through by all levels of govt, because they do not have to participate in it!! Its just another scheme designed to take money from the taxpayers of this fine country and to make themselves and their special interests more wealthy. They could seriously care less if the people have insurance at all... they just want a bigger piece of the pie... the money that the insurance companies are making off the public. they found that there were some people who did not have insurance, and were not paying insurance companies, so they decided to change that and force people to buy insurance. They knew there would be objections, so they tried to make the pot look sweeter by saying it would be "cheaper." well, some people are now finding out that it is not going to be cheaper, and they will still have to pay exorbitant sums to "insurance companies," under the guise of the govt. but still only making the govt richer and the public poorer. They just want us to work, and work hard, to earn more money so we can just hand it over to them, so they can hand it over to all the other countries of the world who do not need or deserve it, just so govt can get more "stuff" from the other countries... like drugs, guns, and weapons of mass destruction. It is all a game, and I for one do not want to play!!

You may very well be correct on some of those points, and frankly, I'm not here to argue the merits, or lack thereof, of the ACA. It's not germane to this discussion.

I'm simply pointing out that it is, in fact, a law, and in order to negotiate or change a law, you follow protocol in doing so. Keeping a huge population of the country from working in an extremely shaky economy is most definitely NOT the way to do it. It's a standoff, plain and simple, one of the most unproductive ways of coming to any kind of compromise. And, make no mistake, it has to be about compromise from all sides (and no, I'm not interested in the he/she said back and forth lies that both sides are spewing)

They ALL need to put the rulers away, zip up, and get on with the business of working on the budget. THEN start working on changing certain aspects of the law. Not all of it, by any means. A lot needed, and still needs, to be changed in this country when it comes to healthcare. But, again, that's a different debate.

Whoa. They can adorn their tin hats - with them

hang them all over the brims, off their glasses, all over their bodies, even use them as earrings.  Certain favored partisans trying to be oh-so clever can even get away with flashing slogans in public using the more carnal connotations of the metaphor with impunity, but as soon as a perceived enemy says it out loud, WHAM!  Down comes the censorship sledgehammer, AS IF it weren't the TPs that inflicted the ridicule all over themselves....then AND now.  LOL.  This all done under the banner of patriotic FREEDOM.  Such a sham.

the only sham - being perpetrated

is this government! which really is not a "government" at all, but a fancy name for corporate rule... I have no affiliation with any particular party, even tea baggers, but at least they are trying to initiate change from the norm, and I give kudos for that. whether they are right or wrong in their methods is another subject, but at least it is an attempt. That is more than our so-called president is doing for this country.
Changing the subject - does not change
[ In Reply To ..]
the accuracy of the other post's substance. The TP has no one to blame for the self-inflicted ridicule that comes their way outside their own ranks. Chalk it up to lo-info organizers who have no use for vetting, whether it applies to candidate picks, agendas, messaging or something as basic as choosing a party name. Then again, they just can't seem to get anything right. Par for the course.
neither can the president... - cannot get anything
[ In Reply To ..]
right. He hasn't since day one and still cannot. he is not even trying anymore...it's just "do it my way" and that's it. he will not even negotiate. what kind of government is that??

p.s. I can change the subject anytime I want if I feel it is relevant. Not your concern.
TPs just love to play dodgeball, - don't they? nm
