With young people having to fund this mess, (sm)

Posted: Jun 15, 2013

how on earth does he think he's going to pay for it?  I see a big collapse coming.  This is just California, mind you, but this is one of the cheaper plans.

Young people will be having - to fund the mess

anyway, so what's your point? At least this is a start toward something.

It's a start to something, all right. - me

COLLAPSE

So please by all means - provide solutions

[ In Reply To ..]
to avoid pending collapse. You and yours never had any and still don't.
REPEAL. Start over, but this time include both - parties in negotiations.(sm)

This piece of crap legislation passed without one Republican vote. Now 70% of the electorate don't even want it. The young people who must fund it will choose not to buy it - when I was their age, I probably wouldn't have either. This will leave the rest of us to fund those who don't want to buy it and those who can't afford to pay for it. It will fall on the middle class - again. General practitioners dropping out of the healthcare field like flies. Can't blame them. My doctor had to stop taking Medicare patients. His nurse told me he felt really bad about it, but what could he do? I do understand but I feel for those who are left stranded. They pay so little to the doctors for Medicare now, and it's going down. Obama did say let the old people take a pain pill. I guess that's pretty much what it boils down to.
Then ensure that your - party
[ In Reply To ..]
gains control of the gvt and get it repealed. Like I said before, they never had nothing and they still got nothing.

As far as doctors boo-hooing because they can't afford mansions and yachts, maybe they should skip it and become hedge fund managers if they can't live on what doctors make.
We'll do what we can to throw Dems out in 2014 - May not be enough, but we'll see.(sm)

Making good inroads so far.
That's fine by me - Believe it or not
[ In Reply To ..]
you can actually win elections when you have (even perceived) solutions to problems instead of fear and hate mongering. Good luck with that!

"Obama did say let the old people take a pain pill."

I don't believe this for a nanosecond!

As far as ACA being passed without one Republican vote, that is certainly nothing new. However, the Republicans didn't hesitate to throw a bunch of JUNK into the bill before it was passed, which is probably the reason some people are against it now.

Once we get a Democratic House again, all this nonsense will stop and the bill will be tweaked of some of that junk and made right.

I'm still in favor of a single payer program.
Here you go. First of all, notice how he goes (sm) - Take a pain pill, old lady.

round and around the issue without actually answering what she asked him. (Now 4 years later we're actually pretty used to this). Then he's into "end of life" care. This is the longer version, there is a shorter verson on YT.

QUOTE him as saying, "Take a pain pill, old lady."

You did NOT supply a link in your post.

As far as the shorter version, that made perfect sense to me! Sometimes the older people get, the less surgery they can tolerate. Perhaps an effective painkiller would be an excellent substitute for surgery in some situations.

Either way, it was NOT nearly as cynical as you blew it up to be.
That was my name. It wasn't a quote. - Death panel?

means the same. This time my name is death panel.

young people having to fund this mess - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't understand what you mean about young people having to fund this mess.

Does this help? (sm) - me

[ In Reply To ..]
Young, healthy people need to sign up and chances are they won't with the exorbitant rates.

not particularly - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The piece's statements about cost containment are inaccurate, and there is no evidence to support ths supposition that the program "desperately needs" young people - who typically do not carry health insurance anyway.

The costs described below sound pretty contained:

"The least expensive silver plan for a 21-year-old could cost $216 a month, but those earning only 150% of the poverty line (or $17,235 annually) may pay only $44 after receiving federal subsidies. A 40-year-old may pay $276 a month, or $40 after the subsidies."
So who do you think will be paying for (sm) - Observer
[ In Reply To ..]
people who can't afford it, all the additional people on Medicaid - all the subsidies, where do you think it's going to come from?
I think it's complicated - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I certainly think I do not know enough about the subject to speculate on the dynamic infrastructure of its funding.
I'm sure you're right. - Observer.
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
what are your thoughts about how it is being funded? - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
It's NOT. That's the point. That's why Sebelius is out - strong-arming everyone. (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]
It's already a failure. We were lied to about how it was going to be cheaper and we were going to have better care. I think most of us knew that was impossible. How could you add that many more people on via Medicaid, and have cheaper care? Common sense told most of us otherwise, but he forced it through. Well, now we all have to live with it. I have no idea how it is going to be funded, and neither do they.
who's paying - Roseanne
[ In Reply To ..]
Maybe the military-industrial complex could forego a few of their billion dollars toys.
Yes, and for anyone on this board who wishes to - Libby

see exactly how much they would be asked to pay under the Affordable Care Act, please click link and calculate what your premium might be.

Then compare that to what you're paying today for health insurance.

Oh, sheesh! Yet another Obama so-called "scandal." - No thanks.

I haven't had a car accident in 30 years. Why do I have to pay - car insurance? NM
