Anyone with a 401K or retirement fund

Posted: Dec 8, 2016

I am so pleased in my stock increase in my 401K over the past 2 weeks.  If this is Trump effect I wish I would have voted for him but I did not vote for president at all given the bad publicity surrounding the 2 choices I was given and I thought the other 2, Stein and whats-his-name were jokes.

Outstanding growth in my retirement fund I have not seen in years.  Hope our country does as well as the stock market with President Trump in charge.

Many younger people during their formative years have heard - or been taught negatives about America,

[ In Reply To ..]
how evil it is, etc. Maybe a little more optimism is on the way. We haven't had any in the last eight years.

It's morning in America again!

This is such fun watching Trump operate. Of course he is 2 steps - ahead of the media...they are so lame,

[ In Reply To ..]
so unimportant.

From his original announcement day, mentioning immigration issues, etc., the press is chasing HIS stories. He must chuckle as he watches the situation unfold.

I love that he puts out a “tweet” and the media chases that story with outrage, then he puts out another “tweet” and the press jumps over to that new story.

That’s why we voted for him. 65 million of us GOT IT... and proved it on election night. We won’t get everything we want, but this is awesome fun so far, winning is great, his choices for cabinet picks are tremendous and the future is looking bright. Much needed change from the downtrodden, how to take out the USA, how to harm anything American that has prevailed for the last 8 years. Dems just don’t get Trump. We sure do and we’re loving this. Optimism rules.

I concur. It's fun watching the media chase his "nutcracker - tweets", it's DJT's continuing

holiday performance!

End of year hedge fund rebalancing - guess again.

Market is now ignoring Trump effect (see Boeing). I do worry about his reactivity and sensitivity to criticism. He really does not have the temperament to have such clout with business, workers, the world.

How do you explain a billionaire's success and - winning the presidency's temperament issues?

[ In Reply To ..]
I figure if I could just make a million I must be doing something right and my temperament and IQ must be above average. I figure if my family loves me and they are successful I must be doing something right.

So you all think Trump is stupid and temperamental?

What is your claim to success? Just curious as to where Trump enemies are coming from.

The man has not even been in office and people are predicting his failure, even though he has employed 100s of 1000s of people in his businesses, made billions of dollars and was elected president over a career politician who played the woman card.

Just curious of course, not attacking. I want to know where the anti-Trump people are coming from. I do not know Trump and surely most posters here do not so how is it you all are worried about his presidency, IQ and/or temperament.

Because he is, was - and always be

[ In Reply To ..]
a con man.
So a billionaire who created thosands of jobs - and won the presidency is a con?
[ In Reply To ..]
So you believe Trump conned all the people he employs, he conned his loving family, and he conned all the people who want jobs and a living wage who voted for him?

What is the purpose of this massive Trump con?

Do you know a career politician who has accomplished this much? Do you know a career politician who is not a lying con?

By the way, my brother has a home on Trump's golf course in Doral, Florida, met Trump and his family and said he is a down-to-earth person who employs 95% Hispanic people to run his golf course, his resort area, and his hotel. He made my brother's property on the golf course he took over increase measurably in value. Guess Trump conned my brother too.
Yep. "CON" - with a capital "C". - Thats how billionaires get that way.
[ In Reply To ..]

There's nothing noble about being obscenely, filthy rich.
Do you actually know Trump, Bill Gates, or even - a millionaire?
[ In Reply To ..]
Lots of noble people who are thankful for their blessings and want to give back.

How many millionaires or billionaires have you met to come to the conclusion they were cons and not noble?
No, not those... but I live in the Silicon - Valley, and know MANY.
[ In Reply To ..]
I had quite a few as clients in my side-business (non-MT), and with the exception of ONE old-money guy, the rest were pure SCUM. Cheap as all get-out. More likely to stiff me on a bill than those of modest means.

With very few exceptions, most people get to the top, both position-wise and financially, by stepping on others.
Trump has a long history - Hail Caesar
[ In Reply To ..]
of underpaying or not paying people who have worked for him claiming that he didn't like their work and knowing they did not have the resources to fight him in court. He also has a history of spending a great deal of money to fight unionization in his properties. He is not, never has been and never will be a friend of the worker.

The left is just jelous, Trump has had a REAL - job in the private sector,

[ In Reply To ..]
something Obama never had.

At this point, we have more federal workers than ever before. More than 1.4 million people collecting government salaries according to the congressional budget. That’s a 10 percent jump from the time Obama took office. The government has never employed so many people. Including the massive IRS and the new ones hired to enforce Obamacare.

Think about that.
I guess anyone who thinks MT is a *real* job - would think Trumps job is *real*, too.
[ In Reply To ..]
Gullibility is as gullibility does...

That's easy. It can be explained by the - gullibility of his supporters.

[ In Reply To ..]

Could be Trump's supporters are not gullible - and Hillary's were.
[ In Reply To ..]
Who wants a bought and paid for politician who lies when you can have a successful business person who built an empire and employs so many people.
And Drumpf ISN'T bought-and-paid-for? - LOL!
[ In Reply To ..]

Who paid for Trump's campaign? - Who paid for Hillary's campaign?
[ In Reply To ..]
You think career politician's campaign financing comes from big business with big bucks who just like the politician's looks?

Why would Trump the billionaire need money and in turn owe someone who financed him a "favor"?
Because people like him can never have "enough" - money, they just want more.
[ In Reply To ..]

We are judging by his history and his actions - Hail Caesar

[ In Reply To ..]
All this has been mentioned before: Trump University which conned its students; Trump enterprises which have been moved offshore; Trump buildings which have used Chinese steel; a history of underpaying or not paying those who have worked for him and are unable to fight him in court; continued lying, groping women, encouraging violence, supporting white supremacists, impulsive middle of the night tweeting, vindictiveness, etc., etc.

If I had daddy give me a - million dollars

[ In Reply To ..]
I could be successful too.

We don't have blinders on and see him for who he really is. Now I see he is going to still work on his Apprentice show while juggling that pesky presidential job.

Really? Market has tripled since Obama fixed Bush depression - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Market tripled while President Obama tried to put some ethics back into the market. Yup, beside end of year portfolio padding, the greedy are rejoicing over their gift of deregulation so they can re-create the Bush Bubble.

Hang on to your shorts (in more ways than one).

Obama fixed Bush's depression? Unemployment was 5% - during GWB era. Did you get this

[ In Reply To ..]
info from fake news?

Could it be from all the fiat money Obama and the fed - have pumped into the market?

[ In Reply To ..]
Yes. Has Obama run up the debt more than all previous presidents combined? Yes.

Pure media spin. Based on the way economists used to - measure a president's term in

[ In Reply To ..]
job growth, Obama’s would be a loss of 6 million jobs (20 million population growth but only 14 million jobs is a gap of 6 million jobs).

What do you mean - old and burned out

[ In Reply To ..]
you have not seen it in years? When George Bush left office the Dow Jones was at 8000; under Obama it went over 18,000 (before the election).

This is also probably a bit of a bubble.

I feel sorry for whoever is President after The - Donald is gone. WHAT a mess

[ In Reply To ..]
they'll be facing in terms of damage-control and cleanup. Even Bush's mess may not be 100% repairable... so heaven help the next President (and all the rest of us) when faced with a trashed, gutted and looted America in 2020.

To Trump Fortune Tellers - Since you look into the future,

[ In Reply To ..]
Could you give me some winning lottery numbers?

How does the future look for us as more MT jobs are shipped to India?
The writing is on the wall. - Its not rocket science.
[ In Reply To ..]

The writing on the wall I see is the man is - a billionaire success
[ In Reply To ..]
He has the ability to make America great again proven by his own success.

What writing to you see on the wall? Disaster, bleak future, failure? LOL. Good luck with your wall predicting your personal failure. I think I would get a new wall.
And how exactly is that billionaire's "success" - going to trickle down to YOU?
[ In Reply To ..]
Just curious......
It's not - going
[ In Reply To ..]
trickle down, it's going to spray upward and all the rich folks will have their rain catchers spread so thick to make sure none of it trickles down to us peons.

Likely only temporary, until the u-no-wat - starts hitting the fan. (sm)

i.e., Drumpf gets us into a bigger and even worse war than the ones we're already involved in; or it comes to our soil.

401K QuestionJun 27, 2016
I am old enough to start taking money from my 401K without paying a penalty; however, I was wondering, is there a place to put it (all of it) where it will be safe and not on a wild ride like lately? Also, is there a place where it can go without being taxed on all of it up front? Are IRAs subjected to the same type of roller coaster ride as 401Ks? Am I dreaming? I'm just so dumb when it comes to this stuff. Thank you for your help. ...

Ahh, Retirement In One YearMar 11, 2016
Okay, so I got out of MT 3 years ago (for obvious reasons), took a nice little part time job answering telephones for a mom & pop business. I plan on retiring completely in one year, and am trying to get ideas on what you plan on doing (or are doing) in retirement. Or, heck, even if you have many years ahead of you in terms of needing to work-work, I'm open to ideas. I am thinking of volunteer work. I do know that I don't want to sit around and watch movies all day. I'm th ...
