We live sort of in the country on a cul-de-sac gravel road. All of the houses are less than 5 years old and sit on 1-1/2 to 3 acre lots. It is beautfil in here with all the big hardwood trees and nice big yards. Everyone keeps their yards mowed and clean EXCEPT of course the one next door to me. Our lot is 1-1/2 acres and his is 3 acres. He mows a strip down where our property lines meet and on the other side of his yard where the property line meets the other neighbor. Only sometimes does he mow the front yard, once a month, and hardly ever the backyard. He has nice hardwood trees in the front but he has NEVER mowed around them, just right up to them and then leaves the weeds about 10 feet out around all the trees. He said he "hates yardwork." Don't know why he built on that lot if he does not want to mow. All of the neighbors (8) talk about them terribly because of their yard. He has a few crazy things lying around in the back yard like wooden steps out in the middle of the yard that go nowhere, what he calls a "shed," and for some reason there is a a door propped up against a boat. Been there for months.
The thing is, they are very very very nice people. Their kids are sweet and polite. They are active in the church. They always speak like they are your best friend. I feel terrible about the way the neighbors talk about them and they don't know it. I want to say something but I am afraid I will make them angry or hurt their feelings. Actually it is no one's business how ugly their yard is I guess, but with very little effort their yard could be beautiful. Should I say something in casual conversation? What?
